Because I am going to get back in it in and read! I started Anita Shreve’s Resistance last night. Good so far!!
It’s rather wet outside
I’ve also been shopping for commercial trash cans for the bakery. Not what I should be doing on a cozy Saturday morning!
Breakfast was a yogurt bowl full of plain yogurt, cubes of GH Cinnamon Chip bread, toasted buckwheat, chia seeds (a ground kind I was sent as a sample and do not prefer!), GH Jam, banana and pretzel peanut butter.
That would be Flying Squirrel PB – Pretzel Pizazz. Nothing is more satisfying than the crunch of a pretzel!!
Peppermint tea
Later!
Justeen @ Blissful Baking says
I’m debating what to eat for breakfast right now – the yogurt bowl looks so good! I think I’ll go make one for myself 🙂
JenATX says
i do not prefer ground chia seeds either… i cannot wait until i finish this package I have; i’ve been working on it since June. Sheesh!
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
mmm love the colors in your oatmeal today, I need to try that Flying Squirrel PB, sounds delish!
have a great weekend:)
Stacey (The Home-Cooked Vegan) says
That is EXACTLY how I started my Saturday morning too! Except with cereal 😉 We are supposed to be getting a massive storm this afternoon, luckily I have two books to keep me occupied 😀
Enjoy your lounging around time! 🙂
Sarah says
It’s gross weather here too.. I planned for a run this morning but think I’m going to wait it out.
Your oatmeal got me hungry!
Time to eat!
Lea @ Healthy Coconut says
What does the ground chia seed taste like? Similar to ground flax? I love the crunch of the whole chia seed.
KathEats says
Yeah it’s like ground flax. I find both rather boring.
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
That looks sooo good! Like an Elvis bowl!
Valerie @ City|Life|Eats says
Yay for cozy Saturday mornings!
Molly says
Do you think the girls of Flying Squirrel have squirrels on staff in charge of collecting the nuts?
KathEats says
🙂
Parita @ myinnershakti says
Oh lucky you! I so wish I could get back into bed and read right now! Maybe tomorrow…
Laura says
Question: I’ve been dying to try your dough boy smoothie, but I lack a fancy powerful blender. Would it work in a small-ish food processor?
KathEats says
Absolutely. It’s just overnight oats, blended up. You could even partially blend and still get a good doughy taste. So if you have something that blends, yes it will work
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
Mmm… pretzels. YUM! I love yogurt bowls. Ever since trying full-fat Greek yogurt, it’s hard to go back to the 0%! lol
Joyce @ Flowing to Fifty says
Oh, that’s a perfect rainy morning breakfast. I vote for more time reading and less time shopping garbage cans. Except that there are probably some pretty sexy cans out there (no pun intended!).
Stacy @ Every Little Thing says
Seems like it’s a rainy, crappy day in much of the US. Have fun hanging out in bed! I’ll be doing the same 🙂
Lucy @ The Sweet Touch says
It is cold and windy here in St. Louis that’s for sure! Sometimes it’s nice because it gives you an excuse to cuddle in a do nothing:)
Stacy @ Every Little Thing says
ooo I love finding St. Louis bloggers! I’ll be following you from now on 🙂
Lucy @ The Sweet Touch says
Awesome! Going to check out your blog right now:)
Katie @ Nourishing Flourishing says
I think going back and reading in bed = a perfect Saturday 🙂 Hope you get a break this weekend!
Cindy says
I don’t think I’d like ground chia seed either. I like the texture of them!
Heather says
I keep forgetting to bring home pretzels to try in my breakfast!
Hope it dries up later in the day.
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Definitely sounds like a perfect day to get back into bed.. curl up with a good book and ready! Enjoy!
Baking Books says
Rainy days demand that you stay in bed. Absolutely. I vote for staying in cooking up something hot and baking some bread…and sending some to us 🙂
Pretzel. PB? I had no idea such a thing existed….
Amanda (The Nutritionist Reviews) says
I would love to try pretzel PB. Yum!
[email protected] says
At least there’s no snow 🙂 We have snow here! And I never make my bed on Saturdays!
Haleigh says
Delicious yogurt bowl. It’s definitely a nice day to stay inside and rain here, too. Enjoy!

Karen says
I too am enjoying a comforting bowl of oats and tea on this rainy Saturday in the midwest I’m longing for an absorbing (non-fiction!) read, but can’t seem to find one in my ‘to read’ line-up that captures my attention. I do have a 50% off B+N discount coupon burning a hole in pocket though…Please do let us know how you like Resistence.
Have a relaxing day, Kath!
Tracy says
Karen, I’m enjoying Katie Couric’s new book: The Best Advice I Ever Got. The profits go to a non-profit scholarship fund, too. Just thought you might be interested!
Karen says
Thanks,Tracy! I ended up purchasing Unbroken, which garnered universal raves. Excited!
Sunya says
Love the pretzel pb. In fact, love all the nut butters from the Flying Squirrel ladies. Great tip once again. 🙂 Enjoy your reading! I am heading out to the farmer’s market.
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
Enjoy your book! It snowed here last night 🙁 so all I want to do is sit around and read!
Nancy-The Wife of a Dairyman says
Nothing better than to crawl back into bed on a rainy Saturday morning:) Enjoy!
Christine @ Burning It Off says
It’s raining here too… the perfect weather for staying in and curling up with a cup of tea and a good book. That looks like one awesome power breakfast!
Julie (Food & Other Things) says
Pretzel peanut butter sounds like a great breakfast topping!
Michelle (The Runner's Plate) says
I’ve never heard of ground chia seeds. . .interesting.
Enjoy your time reading!

Cereal has never looked so good. 🙂 And pretzel peanut butter? Add some chocolate to that and it is perfect!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says

Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
Pretzel peanut butter? Be still my heart!
Courtney @ the granola chronicles says
Sounds like it’s the perfect weather for reading in bed. Enjoy!
Jess says
Too bad about the ground chia seeds—sounds one of those ideas that’s awesome on paper but just doesn’t quit work in real life.
It’s a gloomy, chilly Saturday here in New York too—hoping a hot yoga class will wake my brain up a little. Enjoy your book!
Cait's Plate says
I hear ya! It’s DEFINITELY a stay-in-bed-and-read type of day around here too! I’m excited for some spring weather, but in the meantime I won’t complain on cozy days like these where I can just stay in and bake! 🙂
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
that PB sounds so good! for some reason, I’m still trying to “wake up” fully. 😛
Sarah (Running To Slow Things Down) says
I love Saturday mornings! 😀
I wonder why the chia seeds were ground. They’re so much better whole and “poppy-ish” in my opinion. 😀
Your breakfast looks lovely! 😀
Katie says
Its a rainy day here and Im going in bed to read too! I just got my fitness done for the day and now relaxation!
Kristi @ KristiAteIt says
Pretzel peanut butter. Sounds really good. I might try to make something like that…I’ve never attempted to make a nut butter before.
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I didn’t make my bed today either, but thats because I’m sick. Yuck.
KathEats says
Oh sorry 🙁
Emily @ Savory and Savage says
Your bowl looks especially pretty today.
A Saturday morning spent reading? Sounds like heaven 🙂
Luv What You Do says
I love a lazy Saturday! I am planning on heading back to my bed too!
BTW, I also loved Anita Shreve’s TESTIMONY if you haven’t read it yet.
Miranda @ Working Mom Works Out says
I’m jealous…. of the book reading not the trash can shopping. Enjoy!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
mmm yogurt bowl and shopping online–what could be better?! Have fun!!
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
I’ve been addicted to yogurt bowls lately. I used to have oats every single morning..but now it’s all yogurt!
Khushboo says
Yogurt is so much more tempting now that the temps are shooting up! Love the sound of that peanut butter.
Kiran @ KiranTarun.com says
Rainy days like these are best spent with a good read and tea or coffee 🙂
Jenny (Fit Girl Foodie) says
I’m always debating whether I want oats or a yogurt bowl for breakfast because I never think a yogurt bowl will fill me up. Yours really looks like it does!! 😀
Erin says
I think Resistance is my favorite Anita Shreve book! Fortune’s Rocks and Sea Glass were also quite good. How did you like the Thorn Birds?
KathEats says
Uggggghhhh The Thornbirds. It was so long! And I didn’t really love it at all 🙁
Alexandra says
I had PB + J oatmeal for breakfast too 🙂 But, sans banana and instead strawbs.
kelly says
What type of Chia seeds do you recommend?
KathEats says
Just the regular whole kind found in the bulk bins (likely the spice section) at places like Whole Foods. Just don’t get something ground in a bag.
Hannah says
I think I might have to crush pretzels into my sunfower butter tonight. Thanks Kath!
Katherine: Unemployed says
who makes their bed anyway? people who don’t need mothers? bah…
Shelby says
I was wondering. . . how much yogurt you put in one serving? and this looks AWESOME!!!!
KathEats says
About a cup
Shelby says
Thank You! I can’t wait to enjoy this for Breakfast!!!!
Lindsay says
Kath- Did you find a trash can? Would it be recycling and industrial if the honey still comes in a barrel? You could use an empty one.
KathEats says
That’s a cool idea, BUT – we’d have to use an entire barrel before we could transform it into a can and we’d need a trash can before we open!
Melissa @ Journey to Marvelous says
The yogurt bowl looks yummy!!
