Happy AM!
Happy Friday!
Happy morning off!
Last night might have seemed wild [especially with my killer typo at the end ; ) ] but it was actually pretty tame. I woke up with a smile at 6:26 and came down to a killer Dough Boy Smoothie!
In the blender was 1 cup of milk, 1/3 cup oats, 1 small ripe banana, 1 tbps chia seeds and a sprinkle of cinnamon. I put those together last night, gave them a stir and blended this morning. No yogurt today (didn’t want to open a new tub) and it tasted juuuuust fine.
On top I put bluebs, buckwheat, and crumbled raw granola I’m trying out for OpenSky
All I gotta say is that clusters rule! The texture of this SIAB was awesome!!
Also, can you see how the blueberries kind of get hugged by the smoothie? This is my favorite smoothie thickness! I don’t like them too liquidy or icy – I like them smooth, fluffy and pillowy and thick enough for toppings to float!
I’m doing both of our laundry, and working a few things at home. Then I’m pumpkin pumping, showering at the gym and sending Matt home for a rest while I take over the afternoon.
Matt’s fraternity brother Dallas is getting married tomorrow!! We have friends coming to town and are hoping to meet up with them after work today. Yippee! It’s only too bad Matt has to bake sweets tomorrow, which means a 3AM alarm clock.
See you again beary soon!
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Your typo at the end of that other post was great…I loved it. It just showed that you have a life, and that to err (and drink wine) is totally human…and great 🙂
The granola in this post…mmm, good! And all those bloobs. Love it!
Sounds like your weekend is going to be hectic and fun…as per usual 🙂
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
I’m still envious of your virtual event, but I did manage to get a tasting of my own in. 🙂
Blueberries are fantastic right now. Our local WF is selling them for $1.99 today!
faith says
ours is too, I’m heading there asap!
Baking 'n' Books says
$1.99? Wish I could head there!
I was just going to ask if you knew of any GF Granolas – and then I scrolled down and seen that! Exciting – I love Nature’s Path Hemp and Flax granolas but never see any alternatives. And the flaky cereals don’t cut it.
Monika @ Powered by Paprika says
Mmm that smoothie looks good!
Happy friday 🙂
Molly @ RDexposed says
Hope your night out with friends involves some cerveza! Have Matt check to see if my beer comment in today’s post was acurate-assessing a clean beer glass!
kate says
woaahhh that granola looks awesome cant beat the clumps im jealous of your breakfast!!!
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
Just had to go and read last nights post, as I hadn’t yet. Too funny. 🙂
I’m traveling (flying) today, and wish I had KERF-packed travel eats with me!!

Jil @ Big City, Lil Kitchen says
I love the consistency of the dough boys!! and this looks amazing.
Sara says
Your smoothie looks great – do you blend those in a regular blender? Or the Vitamix?
KathEats says
I only have a vita-mix now – it’s my one and only
Lauren at Keep It Sweet says
Great start to the day, happy Friday:-)
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
I also like that texture for smoothies — just thick enough to hold the toppings but not so thick that it tastes like sludge.
Not to pick on you, but shouldn’t it be “berry soon” since you’re writing about blueberries? 🙂
KathEats says
NOPE!!! 🙂
Hope says
Delicious smoothie! 🙂 Have fun hanging out with your friends and the wedding! 🙂
Khushboo says
Ohh raw granola, i’m intrigued! Have a great time tonight with your friends- perhaps it’lll be so wild that Matt can just go directly to his shift after the shenanigans? ;)!
Katie says
It is a happy Friday morning here. Love the floating toppings. I totally agree with you on the thickness making such a difference. Enjoy your morning off even if it involves doing laundry. Sounds like you have some fun to look forward to this evening. Boo on the 3 AM alarm clock. My internal alarm clock seems to be set somewhere between 3 and 4 lately and I don’t need to be up that early! Maybe I should get a job at our local GH!
Natalia - a side of simple says
Now THAT is my ideal smoothie, plus the GF granola 🙂 Happy Friday dance!
Donna @ Love, Run & Travel says
I’m going to have to make that smoothie for breakfast tomorrow!
The blueberries look perfect
Enjoy your morning off 🙂
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
I love when granola has big clusters. I need to learn to make good granola with lots and lots of clusters!
Laura Jane @ Recovering Chocoholic says
I read your post last night, but I totally didn’t notice the typo! I had go look at it again. I love sweets, but I might think differently about them if I had to get up at 3am to make them!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
3am on a Saturday? Ouch!! The granola clusters look enormous – and delicious! 🙂 Have a great day Kath!
Meg says
Friday daaaance (bonus dance-age cause of your morning off 😀 )
Enjoy the sun!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
The typo was just funny after all the wine talk! I need to try oats in a smoothie. I think that’s a mixture I could get used to! Have a great day Kath!
Cait's Plate says
3 am – ugh. I don’t know how Matt does it!
That dough boy smoothie is amazing – I keep meaning to try it. Though I don’t have the clusters which I think TOTALLY make it. Looks like I might need to head over to OpenSky 🙂
Miranda @ Working Mom Works Out says
Looks yum. I haven’t had great success with doughboys. Maybe I’ll try again.
And “beary soon”? Is that a hint?
Hannah says
Um, I’d like to be hugged by a smoothie. Yes indeedy I would.
Leah: The Kind Weight Watcher says
WOW, that looks delicious! I love your gorgeous green bowl.
Flourchild says
Have a wonderful Friday ! Your yummy bowl of goodness has inspired me to have the same this morning!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
When you said you were “pumping” today I was like “wait, what!?” Definitely thought of it in the “baby” sense of the word! Too many bloggers are pregnant!
KathEats says
Hahah – yeah not that kind of pump!!
Carol says
Glad you have the AM off.
That granola looks amazing! Can’t wait to see the Open Sky deal:)
Have a great one!
Robyn @ Blueberries and Oats says
Enjoy your morning off!
All I can say is that Matt must be very passionate about his job! 3 AM is crazy!
Valerie @ City|Life|Eats says
I had a SIAB this morning, and totally agree regarding the pillowy texture – sometimes I get mine too icy, sometimes too liquid. But today it was just right.
🙂 I am going to keep an eye out for the granola, as I recall they do not use cane sugar to sweeten it, plus it is gluten-free and vegan 🙂
cassie says
love the granola.. especially the tropical granola.. sounds yummy
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
That smoothie looks just perfect!!!
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Enjoy your morning off, Kath! Happy Friday 🙂
Another week under your belt with the bakery. Woohoo!
Susan (Oliepants) says
I love granola and blueberries on smoothies – it adds the perfect crunch and texture.
Stacey says
What brand of granola is that and where other than opensky can you get it? I am allergic to gluten so anything gluten-free is exciting!!!
KathEats says
International Harvest I think? Whole Foods might have it
Andrea @ Onion in My Hair says
Gotta have that crunch!
Jess says
Do you and Matt still sleep in the same room when he gets up at 3 a.m.? Or separately so you can sleep through the night?
KathEats says
Same room (same bed!) His alarm goes off and he gets up pretty quickly and goes to the shower. He puts all of his clothes in our guest room to get dressed in there and that helps tremendously! I barely even notice him anymore.
Elizabeth says
Hi Kath, I wanted to ask about the buckwheat on your smoothie. Are those just straight up raw buckwheat groats? If so, you don’t find them too tough to chew?
KathEats says
Buckwheat is crunchy raw, so it’s not tough. These were toasted though, which makes them have more flavor and more crunch
lynn @ the actor's diet says
enjoy the morning off – and i’m jealous you have a wedding to attend this weekend! it’s been so long since i’ve woken up and sang “somebody’s getting maaaariiiiied” (from “muppets take manhattan” – and if you don’t know what i’m talking about kath, ADD THAT MOVIE TO YOUR QUEUE STAT!)
KathEats says
🙂
Gina (Yogattude) says
Never tried cinnamon in my smoothies…I’ll have to try it this morn!
Angel7 says
I agree with what you said about the thickness of a smoothie. It looks yummy!

Ella says
Wow Kath, a virtual wine tasting at your home! You guys are soooo wild!! 😉
Sarah says
I would always rather have my mornings off than afternoons. Mornings are my favorite time of the day.
Agreed with oat clusters. They are the best!
Ashley @ the fit academic says
Happy morning off! Bet it feels fantastic! The clusters look so yum
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
I haven’t had a dough boy smoothie in way too long, and that one looks especially delicious and fluffy!
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
Those granolas look AWESOME!!
Steph says
My 3 year old daughter and I just had our first Great Harvest experience here in NH! We split a Savannah Bar in the car and dove into the Cinnamon Chip bread when we got home! Yum. We have a Coconut Muffin waiting for us tomorrow morning! Delicious! Hope everything with your bakery is going well; the Nashua bakery is wonderful!
Steph says
Oh and I almost forgot…we bought some Groovy Granola too! Can not wait to try it!!
KathEats says
Whee!
Justeen @ Blissful Baking says
We had the same breakfast this morning! Except I used some Greek yogurt along with the milk – I like the tang!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I love SIAB! I am obsessed. And with stuff floating on top. YUMM.
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I love it when smoothies are thick enough that the toppings don’t sink! That’s always the sign of a perfect smoothie. 😉
Lauren @ Lawfully Wedded Wife says
That smoothie looks awesome! I just picked a boatload of fresh bloobs so I will be having this tomorrow!
