We have a HOUSE SHOWING today!!!
Crossing my fingers it’s someone who came to the open house and is returning for a final visit before making an offer. First-time home buyers have 2.5 weeks to go for their tax credit, so it’s now or never!
I got up at 5:26 and made the house re-sparkle
Folded laundry. Vacuumed. Cleaned 3 bathrooms (which just needed a light touch). Made breakfast. Cleaned up the kitchen. Straightened all living areas.
And still managed to blog and enjoy a House Hunters with my breakfast! (One set in Raleigh, NC too!! They never come to NC!)
In an effort to dirty less dishes, I made a SIAB with hot tea today!
The Vita-Mix
- 1 cup Trader Joe’s frozen berries
- 1 banana (small-medium)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 scoop Vega Vanilla Chai
- 2 tbsp raw oatmeal
- Toppings: Nature’s Path Granola + melted/hardened coconut butter (I’m running low!)
Golden Moon Teas sent me this lovely sample basket of many of their flavors!
I was ooohing and ahhhing over the flavor choices! Vanilla Jasmine. Coconut Pouchong. Caramel Chai. Vanilla Mint. Moroccan Mint. Sugar Carmel Oolong. I’m excited to try them all!!
Today I doubled up for extra caffeine – hope I don’t get a coffee headache 🙁 Vanilla Mint + Irish Breakfast. LOVED the vanilla mixed with mint. One of my favorite flavor combos!
I just take a tbsp of milk in my tea –

Filling!
Off to do some real work!!

Also, I don’t know if you’ve ever done this, but try adding a few almonds to the smoothie- in the vitamix. Adds amazing flavor!
Freya @ Brit Chick Runs says

I love smoothies in the morning 🙂 I added Amazake to mine today – have you ever tried it?
Kath says
Never heard of it!
Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin says
Those tea flavors sounds incredible! I’m excited to hear how they taste.
I stopped drinking coffee sort of accidentally last week after being an every day and sometimes two-a-day coffee drinker and managed to get away without any headaches. Good luck!!

Thanks!!
Kath says
Windows Live Writer
Hannah says
Ooh, I can’t wait to hear what the coconut tea is like! I’ve had tea flavours akin to all the others you’ve got there, but never a coconut tea. Keep us updated! 🙂
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
I hope your house sells!!!!
Have a great day!
Daniel says
I hope everything goes well with the house with all of the effort you’ve been putting into it!
What kind of milk do you use for your SIAB? (At least this one) It seems like plain milk and water would be a little too un-sweet, even with the banana, but I could be wrong – I’m just wondering if the water dilutes it too much or if it’s still tasty~
Kath says
Regular organic cow’s. It was plenty sweet – esp. with the Vega.
Mellissa says
Sending good luck vibes your way! All it takes is that one right buyer. House selling is stressful and moving just adds even more stress to that.
I watched that House Hunters too, they had some really nice options.
Erin (Travel, Eat, Repeat) says
Oooh, I’m totally jealous of that tea basket. Looks amazing! 😀 Hope the house showing goes well.
Ann @ Appalachian Appetites says
Keeping our fingers crossed! I’m sure your house looks great if you watch HGTV! Love it!
Donca says
Sugar carmel oolong and carmel Chai both sound amazing! I’m excited to hear how they taste.
Good luck with the house viewing:)
Lauren says
All of those teas do indeed sound amazing. And you are a workhorse!
Jo says
Kath – thanks to you, I am now addicted to green smoothies!! Which is a good thing. I experimented the other day because I had run out of spinach (and I had just been baking chocolate beetroot cake) by making a beetroot SIAB – I just blended beetroot with a some different fruit and it was delish! If you haven’t already, you should definitely give it a try. Its not like the spinach ones where you can’t taste the spinach, you can taste the beetroot (well, I suppose that depends on how much you use) but provided you like beetroot, its really good.
Kath says
I’m not the biggest fan of beets…
Jo says
fair enough – I used to hate beetroot and love it now.
You would like chocolate beetroot cake though – I made one and took it to work and not one single one of my colleagues guessed the “secret ingredient” – including one guy who claims he hates beetroot so much it makes him physically vomit (Drama queen? never!!) . Best excuse in the book – eat a chocolate cake just so you can eat beetroot!
Jenn says
I love a little milk with my tea too! Good luck with your house showing today.
Lauren @ Eater not a runner says
I love vanilla flavored teas…yum!
Good luck with the house showing!!
Christina says

I love House Hunters! I live in Wilmington and there have been one or two episodes here and I always try to figure out what neighborhoods they are in!! Good luck with the house showing…hoping it’s an offer!! 🙂
Kath says
I’ve seen that one!!
Meg says
I used to be addicted to home shows like that. When I need a good distraction from schoolwork that’s where I turn to 😉 or blogging, of course!
Vanilla Mint tea sounds AWESOME 😀
Enjoy your day and best wishes with the house!
Meg
Danielle (Coffee Run) says

Kathleen says

rachel says
this is a bit off subject of your post, but how do you differ eating on recovery days when you’re not exercising as opposed to days when you work out?
Kath says
Not much. It’s all about the squiggly line!
Courtney R. says
I love house hunters-especially when it is in NC. They did a past show in Charlotte, but I can’t remember if it was a House Hunters or one of those “get it sold” type shows.
Kath says
Saw that one too! They were big Panthers fans?
Jenny says
Good luck with your house showing!

Chelsea (Chelsea's Chew and Run Fun) says
Best of luck omitting coffee from your morning routine. I had a seriously hard time quitting, and ended up falling off of the no-java wagon. I made my first smoothie in a bowl recently, and it was divine. The only thing missing was the coconut butter, which I’m anxious to try in it! Best of luck with the showings.
Heather (Heather's Dish) says
you’ve had a super productive morning…way to go! i’m sending good thoughts y’alls way in hopes that your house sells soon!
Jenny D. says
good luck on your house showing! My husband and I are about to close on our first home this week!! Exciting times:)
I was curious about how you’ve gone about getting products to review. Is this something that has just built up over time or are you signed up with a particular agency? I’d love to do something similar but just don’t know where to begin.
Thanks:)
Kath says
Companies just find my blog and email me. And OpenSky sends me products to test out as well.
Emma says
I recently have been given the task of compiling health book newsletters for subscribing patrons at my library (I’m nearly a professional librarian… 1 1/4 semesters!). I need help! I thought, “Who better to turn to than all the wonderful health bloggers out there?!” If you have any suggestions for me, pleases check out this post and leave a comment: http://lifeinthestacks.wordpress.com/2010/04/09/health-books/.
Thanks so much!
Morgan @ Life After Bagels says
I hate cleaning. Two summers ago the owner was selling the condo that we were renting and we had to show the place which really stunk because we weren’t getting anything out of it but had to make it sparkly clean as well.
I hope that they LOVE it and give you a great offer !
Lisa @ Early Morning Run says
Good luck! I hope this is the one!!
jaclyn@todays lady says

Erin (Texan Couture) says
Good Luck on your house showing!
Those teas look really good! I have never heard of that brand. I would now like to try the Irish Breakfast though!
Ally says
Hey Kath,
I looked at your Open Sky shop for the Artisana Coconut Butter, and noticed it was described as “low in fat,” with 114 cals and 10g of fat per 2 tbsp serving. I recently purchased the coconut butter and it has 186 cals and 18g of fat per serving. Are there two different varieties / variations of this product? Please let me know.
Thanks, and i LOVE your blog!!!
Ally
Kath says
Ally,
The jar is correct – I have reported the typo to OpenSky on the site. So sorry about that!
Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter says
Good luck on the house showing!!! I’m crossing my fingers too 🙂

Greetings from Canada!
I just had my very first bowl of overnight oats and woke up earlier than usual, thanks to your influence! Blueberries, almond milk, a pinch of sugar and some ground flax, I feel wonderful! As a new comer to your blog, I had a suggestion to avoid much confusion. Do you ALWAYS do overnight or are some of them cooked? I felt like if you put the overnight recipe right at the beginning of your ‘Tribute to Oatmeal’, people would not be as confused over whether to cook them or not (as some other comments say this also). I actually had to google whether or not you were cooking them before finding the recipe!
Just a little thing to help newcomers out, otherwise am loving your blog.
Thanks Kath.
Kath says
Nooooooooo I almost always COOK THEM FROM SCRATCH!
The only time I do overnight oats is if I write “Today I had overnight oats.”
Otherwise I’m making whipped banana oatmeal
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
I envy people who can do so much before work. I’m lucky if I can do my hair, get dressed and eat breakfast. I’m getting better though.
Lily @ Lily's Health Pad says
Good luck with the house showing! I have so many childhood memories about having our house on the market, as we moved several times before I was 12. After the showing, my mom and I would inspect the carpet in order to see if it had been walked on. If they actually walked around rooms, our theory was that they were more interested in the house.
Michele | aka Raw Juice Girl says
Wow. You’re on a ROLL!!!
Fingers crossed for your house!!! 😀
Dee says
OMG, look at those flavors! YUM!

Your Saab today looks really good and I have almost everything to make that. So I think I’ll give it a try.
SallyH @ accountablelife.wordpress.com says
That tea basket is enviable! This whole post just makes me feel relaxed. I don’t know how you keep up with the house cleaning without getting stressed–I so hated keeping my house spotless for showings. It’s hard work!
