The Baker got up extra early to bake off fresh rolls for breakfast for everyone with the pizza dough leftovers
I had mine topped with butter and jam. So doughy, so delicious.
A hard boiled egg for some protein. Eggs are a near perfect food!
Fruity
Two cups of joe
I prefer one-bowl breakfasts, but sometimes I really enjoy a "part of this complete breakfast" plate. All that’s missing are the cartoons!
We’re digesting, maybe going for a short walk/run, and taking the 12:30 ferry to Wilmington to have lunch with blog reader Holly. Justin and Amanda are arriving this evening!
Naomi(onefitfoodie) says
they look so doughy and delicious! So lucky to have matt as your personal baker!! 🙂
Madeline @ Greens and Jeans says
I agree with you on the whole bowl thing, but every once in awhile a hodge podge is pretty perfect, especially when you have rolls fresh out of the oven! Can’t beat that!
Kailey says

fresh rolls are the best! I got some sourdough starter from my father in law – so excited about it! We made sourdough pancakes, biscuits, and bread last weekend and they were all amazing.

stephanie says
hi kath-
Your vacation looks fabulous! Up here in DC it has been waay too cold and snowy for outdoor runs, I’m beginning to feel like a hamster with all the treadmill time I’m logging.
Two questions:
1) When you and Matt move to Charlottesville, i assume he’ll be opening a bakery there? Do you know where it will be located exactly?
2) Do you have any upcoming trips to Cville planned? I’m returning next week to start my final semester at UVA 🙁 If you do, PLEASE make sure you hit up Feast (a gourmet grocery store/cafe- their sandwiches are to die for and they use the best ingredients) and Bikram Yoga Charlottesville!
thanks!
stephanie
Kath says
Stephanie,
No idea where the bakery will be yet. We’re going to start looking for locations after the new year, which will probably include a visit. I might not be able to make it with my work schedule, but Matt will be up for sure. I’m hoping to go too if I can squeeze it in!
Karla says
I love how colorful your breakfast looks! Berries are delicious and the buns look so perfect!
amber says
LOL at part of this complete breakfast!
Heather @ The Joyful Kitchen says
What a fantastic breakfast! I’d love some of those rolls really any time of day 🙂 Eggs are such a great way to squeeze in some protein, too!
mary ann says
that is pretty much my ideal breakfast. I love my oats, but I feel so brittish when I eat a biscuit, roll or crumpet with a hard/soft boiled egg. Light but nourishing…. looove it!

Those buns look amazing!! The Baker is very talented. Have a fun run!
Katie says
Wow. You are lucky to have someone to make you fresh bread before you even get up in the morning!! I am jealous. The smell alone would be enough to get me up and out of bed!
Jenni says
why have you only been posting twice a day for like the past week?? just wondering because i am a faithful reader and have been missing the 3 a day posts! I understand you are probably busy though!!!
Kath says
‘Cause I’ve been on vacation!! 2 a day is a lot more manageable when I’m not at a desk all day.
Becky says
Whenever I don’t have oats for breakfast I kind of feel disappointed afterward. Kind of like I am cheating on my good old favorite:) Cooking Light has a little blurb on oats and toppings this month that you will have to read!
Enjoy the vacation, or rather, continue to enjoy!
Paula says
breakfast rolls…Lucky! Breakfast looks perfect!
Sarena says
Great looking breakfast! I love playing with leftover pizza dough. I made cinnamon rolls a couple of weeks ago with the leftover dough in the fridge! So easy and so good! Have fun with your friends!
April says
Kath,
Do you feel it’s easier for you to run such long (in my opinon) distances because you played soccer? Or when you started, did you have to spend more time to build yourself up? And if you did, about how long did it take for the running to start getting easy? Thank you!
P.S.
Love your blog! Read every day!
Kath says
April,
I am of the mind-set (ironically) that running is mostly mental. I knew I’d have no problem jumping from 5 to 6 miles before I even did it. Or 6 to 7. And I started the same way with 3-4 and 4-5. You can go out there and run as far as you want if you wanted to (although your body might not be primed and ready to handle it without injury long-term). So just know you can do it. There’s no shame in stopping to walk some if that helps.
Jil says
The plate looks delicious! and is a much healthier “part of this complete breakfast” than …say Lucky Charms. haha Those buns … (okay, I’m five and just giggled a little )… look phenomenal!!
Mae says
Kath, you and your husband win the “Best leftover users of 2009” award! You inspire others to think past wasting leftover dinners, fruits, veggies, and even dough to creat new experiences. Wonderful!
Kath says
Ha – thanks!
Katie says
Those rolls look crusty and yummy!
Hope you’re having fun.
Happy Day,
Katie
