I’m being kicked out of my house again today! Not sure what I’m going to do, but it’s kind of fun to have to be out and about. (Although I’m sure it would get old!)
No sign of sickness from me, but I did just bite into a moldy chocolate and accidentally swallowed some…
I read blogs and cleaned all morning. It’s amazing how many things need touching up in 24 hours. Sinks, toilets, showers, floors, counters. The house looks great, and we have another beautiful day for showings! 6 groups came by yesterday and 2 seemed interested. Crossing my fingers and toes for some activity today!
I showered and made lunch at noon. I’m just going to take today off of exercise (although I may go for a walk while I’m out because my stiff legs could use loosening).
Pizza pizza! More leftovers! Wish I could have baked these in the oven, but I didn’t want to dirty up a pan before the open house, so microwave it was. Still tasted great though!
Item two was a leafy salad
Romaine, red pepper, carrot, and QUACKERS! What a great salad topping these made! Still loving them Gena 🙂 I drizzled the salad with the usual: EVOO and honey.
A POM spritzer
The molded chocolate 🙁 I guess I didn’t realize that since these had cheese in them they needed to be consumed quickly. I should have frozen the leftovers. D’oh!!!
I compensated with some of Chelsea‘s orange chocolate!

moldy chocolate?! I have never heard of such a thing. Then again, chocolate never stays in my house long enough to become moldy. 🙂
Run Sarah says
Your leftover pizza looks great! Pizza always tastes better the second day around!
Freya @ Brit Chick Runs says
I’ve never heard of mouldy chocolate either..I thought chocolate was one of those foods like cous cous or something that just seem to last forever and ever…well, you learn something new every day!
Have a great adventure 😀
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
Never knew that chocolate molded…. hmmmm….
Have a great Sunday!
Hannah says
I accidentally ate some moldy tomatoes yesterday, but I figured that I was already so sick that it was hardly going to make much of a difference! 😛 I’d be far more devastated to have to throw out chocolate though…
Nicole, RD says
Chocolate can mold? Sad! I knew it could get a little “dusty” when it gets older…but mold? 🙁 Sad day!
Have a fun adventure!
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Glad you’re not feeling any sickness today! But EWWWW about the moldy chocolate. Just last week I polished off a granola bar and found the SKIN of one of those little hard worms in the bottom of the wrapper. Yikes!
Ameena says
I love to freeze everything, including chocolate! It defrosts so fast and stays totally fresh that way.
Cole says
Bleh, mold. Quackers rock though
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
Moldy chocolate? Yuck!
We never have chocolate long enough in our house for it to mold 🙂
Jeanna says

Leftover pizza is one of the best things ever!! Good luck with the house showing!
homecookedem says
Kath, have you ever tried heating pizza up in a skillet on the stove? I swear it’s magic!! If you haven’t ever tried it, you need to!! You’ll never heat up pizza any other way. It’s amazing and I’ve converted many people since I first tried it out. Have a good day and good luck with your house showing today!! 🙂
Kath says
Yeah, but I didn’t have time to dirty a pan!
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
It would get real old to get kicked out every weekend. Although it might be fun at first to go to a coffee shop and hang out with friends.
rustique says
I have this suspicion even moldy chocolate is halfway decent.
Allie (Live Laugh Eat) says
Bummer they were moldy–they look so chic. Hope you find a fun place to take an adventure today.
Danielle (Coffee Run) says
I didn’t know chocolate could get moldy?! Not that I keep it for long enough to get to that point 😉
Lauren @ eater not a runner says
Sorry about the not-so-hot chocolate! Can’t wait to hear about the adventure 🙂
Sara says
hey kath,
i know today is your day off running — but i just wanted to tell you that you have really inspired me to try running. i commented a few weeks ago that i wasn’t sure how to increase distance past 1-2 miles — and with your advice to just keep at it and run more often — today for the first time in my life i ran almost 4! ok, it was really slow (5mph), inside on a treadmill, and nowhere near the time/distances you run, but i’m actually starting to enjoy it, have faith that if i keep at it will be able to increase speed and length, and hoping to have a new outside hobby when the weather in chicago gets warm again! for someone who thought they would never be a runner, thanks so much!!!
Kath says
Congrats!!!!!
christie @ honoring health says
Yikes. sorry about the moldy chocolate!
You may have said this before and I probably missed it but what are you guys going to do if your house sells before you are ready to move?
Kath says
We’ll move in with Karen. I sure hope it sells before we’re ready to move!
lk - healthy delicious says

Kath says
Yes, it was green inside!!

i’ve never heard of moldy chocolate! sounds pretty icky though…hope your afternoon is wonderful!
The Paris Food Blague says
ha! i thought you meant molded chocolate, like chocolate shaped in a mold. but from commentaries it looks like the chocolate was actually moldy. that seems to work better with cheese than chocolate..hmmm.
gorgeous beautiful colory-ful meal, by the way! looks healthy
Meghan@traveleatlove says
We are back and forth about putting our condo on the market. I am crossing my fingers for you guys!

Good luck with the open house! I’m so sorry you had to eat moldy chocolate, how horrible!! Enjoy your “out and about” time!
Stacey@http://stacey-healthylife.blogspot.com/ says
That pizza looks so good even the second time. I’m going to great harvest this week and getting some dough.
Samantha says
K, I hope that when you move to your new home you will treat yourself to a new set or 2 of pyrex storage containers (or the like) glass dishes with plastic lids. I was surprised to see all your plastic wear in your fridge the other night. I fear the toxins coming from those plastics! Best wishes with the sale of your cute house.
Sonia - Master of Her Romaine says
Moldy cheese chocolate?!?! WEIRD! When I was younger I used to peel a bunch of strings from string cheese and wrap them around chocolate coins…I was strange, but it was delicious!! Hehe…
I have a question for you! I absolutely love your sense of style- you always look so put together and “clean,” if that makes sense. I was hoping for some fashion advice! I have a grad school interview in a week and modeled some outfits on my blog. Do you think any are suitable?
Thanks!
Kath says
Thanks Sonia 🙂 I’m sure your outfits are awesome!
Julie @SavvyEats says
Bummer that it was moldy! I LOVE Gail Ambrosius though… she actually went to the same Pilates studio as me!

I just made a salad like that to eat with my supper and I just might have to try some honey and EVOO on it.
Shawna Coronado says
Really love honey & evoo on any greens!
I also am a big fan of re heated pizza – it is mucho better the next day.
Ellen says
Wow! Not that I don’t like health food to start with, but you make it look soooo appealing! The colors are gorgeous.
I once bit into a piece of Easter candy that was like a year old. Mistake! I thought I’d never get the awful taste out of my mouth!
Gabriela says
Holy Moly!
Delicious eats 😀
That pizza looked great… 😉
Have a great week, Kath!

christina cadden says
All your food looks great!
Erin says
Hey! Where’d you get Gail Ambrosius chocolates!? Those are made *literally* down the street from my apartment in Madison, WI! I was so surprised to see that box when I scrolled through your entry! 🙂 They are delicious…though I’ve never had a moldy one… 😉
Kath says
They were sent to me by the Wisconsin Cheese Board!
Ginny says
To avoid dirtying a pan I always put some aluminum foil down and then heat the food. When it is done just discard the foil and put the pan back in the cabinet. I know this is totally lazy bit it beats washing the pan.
AnnQ says
Moldy chocolate? Yuck! 🙁
The WORST think I’ve ever eaten (by accident) was a 1/2 graham cracker with maggots on the bottom.
That was 12 years ago and I seriously can’t eat a graham cracker without checking underneath first! (and I didn’t eat them at all for literally seven years after that….SO gross)
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
i like the idea of being forced out of the house….
Joan says
Sorry your chocolate was moldy! It’s because it was filled with marscapone, which doesn’t last more than a week. Gail made those specially for the Wisconsin Cheese Cupid for Valentine’s Day and doesn’t sell them online for just that reason.
Just so you know, many gourmet chocolatiers don’t use preservatives in their chocolates and you should eat them within two weeks or refrigerate them. That is, if you can wait two weeks. I never can. If they don’t have cheese in them, they won’t be moldy, necessarily, but they won’t taste as good. It’s kind of like eat good bakery items — they just don’t taste as good after a few days.
I
Kath says
Yes, I’m so sorry I did not eat them faster!! Next time I will know 🙁
Ayla says
Kath
I just ate half a chocolate truffel. It tasted odd so I looked at the remainder. OMG it had a green mold between the filling and the chocolate shell. I feel a bit green now myself. Didi you have any effects from your encounter of the moldy kind???
I’m a bit nervous as mold can be a very toxic substance
Kath says
No, I didn’t feel any effects. Sorry you had the same experience!
