Afternoon happenings included a hurrrcut!
Followed by ice cream for a snack! This was birthday cake from Chaps and SOO GOOD!
And a lovely walk downtown and back
And then – we welcomed in the new stove!
[Old stove. It was sad to say goodbye because it was in a magazine with me!]
But the new stove is a beauty with FIVE burners – two super burners – and cool features like self cleaning!
I was about to say “This is the first brand new un-used stove I’ve ever baked in!!”
….But that IS NOT TRUE!
Does anyone remember this accident of 2008!?
That resulted in us buying a new stove for our old house!?
So this is actually stove #2 for us! [Love that this one is flush with the countertop!]
Farewell white stove [we are donating it via a friend]
After stove receiving, I put on shorts and went on a walk with my friend Eileen!! What’s sad is that I put on my two biggest pairs of non-maternity shorts and they did not fit!! They buttoned, but they were way too tight in the waist. Luckily I buy maternity clothes before I need them, so I pulled out the lovely paneled shorts for the first time. So comfy! But the flesh color is so gross looking! [Stomach is a-growin’ this week!]
After our walk, Matt and I assembled dinner.
Good ole sardine salad [using sardines in lemon olive oil] with Food Should Taste Good lime chips for dipping. Matt minced a carrot and put in mustard and mayo. It’s been a long time since I had sardines and I’m supposed to be having them at least once a week for nutrition!
The baked sweet potato was perfectly baked in the new oven! 400* for 40 minutes.
And we had lemony green beans on the side.
My stomach is alternating between being really full and really hungry. I can’t decide which it is – and if I should have a HS snack.
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
Are those cherry blossoms? So pretty! And I’m jealous of your new stove!
Cheryl @ Happy is the new healthy says
Mmm, that dinner looks delicious, but I think the ice cream looks even tastier. Something about the warm weather coming ridiculously early here screams for ice cream!
Your hair cute looks great, by the way. And I can’t wait to get out of student housing and into a real kitchen some day. Simple pleasures. Right now my apartment kitchen is so tiny I can’t open my fridge all the way 🙁 .. 2 more years of school, one of internship, and then I’ll think about how I’m going to get myself a decked out kitchen!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Haha the flesh paneling is an awkward color, granted I don’t know what other color would make more sense!? Ahhh and that ice cream sounds delicious!
Vivi @ My.Beautiful.Air says
love the haircut! mmm those sweet potatoes look SO delish! have a lovely evening!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
yay! new stove! so fresh ‘an so clean! 😉
Allie@LiveLaughEat says
Your hair is so short! I like it though. Perfect for these crazy hot temps. That stove fits your kitchen perfectly. That made me oddly happy.
Kaila @healthyhelperblog! says
Haha! You now basically have the same kitchen as me! Same stove and fridge! They are both AWESOME!!
Cm @ Lazy Healthy says
I am not pregnant, nor have I ever been, but those shorts are lookin pretty comfy to me.
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Love the haircut! Oh and ya gotta love those panels on the maternity clothes! Love that the little one is growing! So exciting!
Kathy W. says
Love the new fridge & stove! I remember you getting the new stove at your old house, but, weirdly, not the broken top on the old one. Maybe I missed a post back then…
(and I’ve been saying for months I need a French door SS fridge and a five-burner stove.)
I guess you’ve become a gas stove lover after all!
Maria says
A new stove/fridge and ice cream. There’s not much more one could ask for.
You look positively glowing!
Tiffany says
You look so beautiful! Haircut looks great and the shorts are cute!
Hope you have a wonderful evening 🙂
Megan @ Megan's Munchies says
I totally remember that from 2008!!!
I love birthday cake ice cream!!! Wish I had some now!
Sarah (I Dream of Beets) says
You look so glowy, the ice cream reminds me of summer, and your stomach is adorable. Those are three reasons why I’m lamenting my evening of grading and packing, my non-ice cream eating, and my non-pregnancy. However, it’s no small consolation that it’s 70 degrees out and that I’m packing for a week in San Diego:) From your pictures, though, I’m bringing my new kids Patagonia fleece. Love that the kids sizes run so big.
Laura says
hair looks great– you look so spring-like and fresh!
Erika - The Teenage Taste says
Dinner looks delicious, Kath! Now I really want some sweet potato fries! 😛
katie @KatieDid says
ahh the shorts! I do like the pink though you’re kind of right about the nude part hehe. And mmmm love sardines!
dee says
Cute haircut! I love getting new appliances, I always cannot wait to use them. Ha. Your fridge and stove make a very nice pair. 🙂
Chetney (Czesia Lives) says
I love your new haircut!!
Siobhan says
You look so much like your mom in the first pic! Congrats on your pregnancy Kath!
Mom says
Fun!
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
Your stove is awesome! I bet you’re gonna be whippin’ up all kinds of awesome on that thing!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
Congrats on the new stove. It’s beautiful! And that incident in 2008…EEK! Bet you were freaking out and shocked, all at once. Yikes!
And I love the side storage area/cubby bins on the side of the stove. Enjoy all those glass jars for the next 9 mos or so, til baby starts crawling 🙂
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
i have never heard of HS snacks before — although i have one almost every night! a small bowl of oats helps me sleep… or so i tell myself 🙂
Gina says
Laughing at the HS snack! I’m currently finishing up my clinical rotation for my Dietetic Internship and have now found myself using medical abbreviations in my everyday life. 🙂 Your blog came to mind today when we had a visit from our local Great Harvest owners in Greensboro, NC for RD day — they came bearing GH gift bags filled with two mini loaves for all! Mmmm
KathEats says
That was nice of them!
Dena @ 40 Fit in the Mitt says
Your new stove is so cool looking! I also noticed that your smile is bigger and brighter since you announced your pregnancy! Your happiness really shows Kath
Jen says
Eek! What happened to that stove?!
Love your hair! It looks even blonder – did you have the color done? Pretty.
KathEats says
I didn’t, but blowdrying in layers really brightens it up
Samantha says
Lovin’ the hair! And the stove!
Stephanie Hobbs says
So much exciting stuff in this post! I LOVE your new haircut, and whatever girl those shorts look awesome!! Too cute!
The stove I so pretty! Wish ours was flush with the countertop too!
Jessica says
What is a super burner?
Why are you supposed to be eating sardines weekly?
Love your haircut! Isnt a haircut you like one of the most refreshing feelings?
KathEats says
It’s a really hot burner that heats things fast.
And sardines for nutrition!
J3nn(Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
Those shorts are so cute. Maybe a white panel might have been more stylish, lol.
Congrats on your new stove. Your nest is almost ready for baby!
Christine @ Oatmeal in my Bowl says
The haircut looks super cute. But watch out… moms-to-be tend to cut their hair shorter and shorter. 😉
The sardine dinner looks great. I just tried some awesome sardines from Spain when I was at Expo. So yummy!
And I love the new stove. I wanted one of those, but it was too wide to fit in between the counters. I was truly sad. It was only like a 1/2″ difference, but made all the difference in the world!
JenATX says
lovin’ the short hair- very chic. NOT lovin’ those shorts though! haha the flesh is so fleshy lol, but I do love that you posted a pic of the shorts in their entirety 🙂
Heidi Bundles Of Hugs says
Cute haircut! Love the color of those shorts. I love maternity clothes they are so comfy and you can’t tell they are maternity. Love the simple dinner idea too!
Mama Pea says
Like your hair! It’s a mom haircut! 😉 (I can only say that because I have one too)
Lisa Langenfeld says
Kath – I’ve been following your site for a few months now and finally just had to leave a comment to let you know how much I love KERF and Baby KERF!! You are just so adorable and have really inspired me to start blogging more too! It’s funny – when I talk to my husband about your blog, I’ll start with “My friend Kath…” even though I’ve never met you, i feel like I know you so well through your posts! LOL! Keep up all the great work! 🙂 PS – you are absolutely glowing from your pregnancy and the new hair cut is very cute!
KathEats says
🙂 We are all friends!
Jenny@vegetarianhatesvegetables says
I’ve been dreaming of a stove like the one you just got, but my husband is dead set on the glass top. I will have to show him what happened to yours! Might sway him. I remember the creepy flesh top- comfy, but I was constantly pulling my shirt down because I was paranoid that it would show.
Khushboo says
I still can’t get myself to eat sardines- something about the bones scare me!
KathEats says
You really don’t see/feel them at all. They are as soft as tuna is
jojo says
Nice hair cut!!
I walked around with unbuttoned jeans/pants forever before I bought maternity pants 😛
The band to wear around the waist is comfortable, something about having support around the waist even when the tummy is not so big..
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
love the haircut! Looks great 🙂
Joss says
I love your new hair cut 🙂 Bring in the new for spring!
Roxanne says
QUOTED: “so I pulled out the lovely paneled shorts for the first time. So comfy! But the flesh color is so gross looking!”
So why can’t they make the panels the same color as the shorts/pants/skirt so it won’t look so gross! So the whole thing could have been been pink….They’re expensive enough that they can do it!
KathEats says
All pink would have been genius! I don’t get the flesh thing. The LAST thing I want people to think is that my flesh is showing if my shirt rides up!
Linda says
I think they make panels flesh colored so it doesn’t show through if you have a light colored shirt on. I know these shorts are pastel enough that it probably wouldn’t make a difference, however, I have jeans with a navy panel and it really shows through when I wear white tops.
KathEats says
Good point!
Molly @ RDexposed says
Nice “HS snack” slip in!
Linds @ Linds Eats says
ahh, beaut stove. tres jealous! p
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
I love your haircut! It looks super cute! 🙂 The new stove is really nice! That is exactly like one that I would love to have once I own a house. I hate the stove in house that we are renting. It never works properly.
Sam says
Sweet potatoes/Yams are Devine! Especially cooked in coconut oil. Adding chili powder to them puts them on my top 5 deserted island list. I spent 30 years or so of my life thinking I didn’t like them . So sad!
Your hair looks great!
XO
Allison K says
Full panels are so awkward at first aren’t they? I needed maternity pants early and remember thinking about why the panel starts so low in the front. Ha! It all makes sense now. You should post comparison pictures in those shorts 20 weeks from now. 🙂
Meg says
Kath,
Congrats on the babe! Have you tried the Food -kettlecorn ones! They are delicious!
jackie says
Your haircut is so cute. Love it.
Your new stove is also rocking. I’m trying to convince my husband that I need a new one. All of my burners are getting very finicky. (It’s electric – blah.) I want a gas stove!!
Lisa says
Thank you for the sardine salad tutorial. It was great!! I picked up a multi-pack of the sardines in olive oil at our BJ’s, because I love them. I really didn’t know what I was going to do with all of them, and this is the perfect solution! I love a dish for warmer weather that doesn’t require heat.
Love the new stove!
Andrea @FrSeed2Stomach says
Love Food Should Taste Good chips! I’ve never had sardine salad, but that dinner looks delish!
Cait's Plate says
Oooh I LOVE the new stove!! It’s absolutely beautiful!

Shana says
I have the exact same stove! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it but I haven’t figured out the best way to clean the grates yet. If you have any tips, I would be glad to hear them!
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
Man, I LOVE getting new appliances- and we will need a new stove at some point. We are slowly trying to convert our white appliances to stainless steel (But the fridge is #1 priority right now). I’ll have to keep this one in mind- it looks perfect!
Your hair cut is cute! And in the last photo, I gotta say- look at those strong, muscular legs, girl! Holy hamstrings! I totally appreciate muscular legs more than anything!
KathEats says
Yeah pump!
Lennis says
We have that stove and love it!! It bakes accurately and everything about it is amazing!! we’ve had it for almost 3 years and still love it as much as the first time we used it.
Heather P says
Love the new stove. We are in the market for a new one, can you let me know the model& brand?
Thanks!
KathEats says
I’m on the road and don’t know off the top of my head. Will you email me and ill get back to you?
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
The sweet potato and green beans look really tasty.
Alyssa says
Kath this is going to sound creepy, but you have awesome legs! Total motivation for me to do more squats and lunges. You look great!
KathEats says
Haha thanks!
Catalina @ Cake with Love says
I have the exact same stove, I love it so far, my only complain will be the self clean feature, it is not really what I expected, but other than that I like the stove!
Stephanie @ Legally Blinde says
Love the haircut – looks great! And your new stove is a beauty; have fun breaking it in!
