Confession: I secretly want to be a home blogger. I have dabbled in their world with my Home Neat Home series and House Tours, but home blogger I will never be. I wish I had the DIY skills to transform furniture and install crown molding, but the extent of my home bloggerness stops at redecorating a bedroom or spray painting.
The blogs I am most excited to read these days are full of gorgeous kitchens, throw pillows and before and after photos. Home bloggers have such an eye for design – both in their living rooms and the design of their blogs. Here are some of my favorites!
Everything about Dana’s house is gorgeous. {Check out her kitchen!} And I like that she throws in personal posts and simple decor projects too.
With a DIY and penny-saving focus, Kate has great ideas, from furniture makeovers to all kinds of tutorials. All of her photos are gorgeous, and I like the diversity of her blog.
Katie is hilarious, first off, and I have loved seeing the transformation of the foreclosure they bought. We were also pregnant together, so I love that she includes snippets of life too.
Shelley is SO creative and her personality jumps off the screen. She has beautifully transformed her house into a home, and offers plenty of DIY and creative ideas.
My FAVORITE blog!! If you think I am organized, you must pay a visit to Jen’s site. Her projects just blow my mind! I especially love when she features reader spaces and shares the organizing love. And her home tour before + afters are really fun too.
I am a new reader of Casey’s blog but followed the organization love from iHeart Organizing. She features guest posts with great ideas and has a fantastic project gallery. And she’s available to hire for organization help!
Layla’s blog is beautifully designed and so is her home! She offers lots of décor and craft ideas as well as before + afters of projects she works on in and out of her home, including The Design Network and HGTV.com.
Can’t forget the Youngsters, my neighbors in Richmond! I love everything about Young House Love – from watching the transformation of their latest house to the personalities behind the screen. Lots of before + after love!
It’s no DIY project, but we have a little house tweaking going on over here in the next few weeks! Here’s a little before for ya…
You’ll have to wait for the after!

Interesting post! It’s just like with friends – you can tell so much about a person by what they read. I’ve been thinking about doing a similar series of posts myself. Sort of like a blogroll, but a here’s WHY they are on my blogroll. 🙂
Emily @ Life on Food says
We bought a house a month ago. I cannot get enough of these types of blogs. Food has always been my first love but not it has a pretty steady back seat position.
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I’ve never actually read a home blog! Guess I know what I’m going to be doing this morning… haha.

I’m getting total house envy! I bought my first home last year but any big decorating plans are on hold at the moment as I’m going travelling around the world next year. There’s a part of me already looking forward to getting back and nesting!

You would love Emily Clark’s blog. She is a young mom from Charlotte with a great eye for design, a sense of humor, and 5 little ones! Also, if you haven’t checked out www.houzz.com, you don’t know what you’re missing. You’ll never buy another decorating magazine again. You can create your own idea book—and interact with the designers. Have a decorating dilemma? Post a picture and ask a question. The site is incredible!

Thanks for sharing these wonderful blogs. Can’t wait to have a look through them! Speaking of home design, I’m a finalist in a ‘re-design my room’ contest. My office/den is a dump and has been neglected. Would you (or any of your readers) help me out by following 3 quick steps:
1. Go to this link: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.641458259209576.1073741829.168186596536747&type=1
2. Click on the first photo (the farthest to the left). Our room is referred to in the photo as ‘SPACE #1’
3. Leave a comment on the ‘SPACE #1’ photo saying something like “This room has my vote” (any comment counts as a vote, so say whatever you want!)
Many thanks!

I’ve only ever read Thrifty Decor Chick’s home blog, but whenever I do, I find myself changing things in my house. I’ve actually run to Home Depot immediately after reading one of her posts because I just HAD TO do the same thing in my pantry she did. Crazy! Thanks for the suggestions – will check them out!
Zoe @ Chocolate Covered Chia says

Love this list- these are some of my favorite bloggers. My husband and I have spent the last 13 month completely ripping up our house and putting it back together…these blogs help me remember that the “after” is coming one day, and we won’t live in a construction zone forever! :))
