Back at the center of the baked good universe! I have had a wonderful 2 weeks’ vacation, but boy have I missed this place.
Including my FRIENDS! Alex, Jenny, Ellen and I are hanging out today! We have such a good time.
Another friend came in to meet me for lunch – Sami! She’s been leaving me comments for ages – and just started as a first year at the University of Virginia (!)
We chatted over tofu and tuna with breaks for me to hop up and handle a few things.
<3 Curried Tuna
We are making something new for October – Pumpkin Oh’s!! It’s a pumpkin cake dough swirled up with a spiced cream cheese. Matt made an experimental loaf and saved me a slice in the cooler. It was so good!! Although I think the cream cheese could have used a little pumpkin too ; )
There is bread to bag and paperwork to do! Hope the pumpkin beer making is going well at home!
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
That pumpkin loaf looks delicious! I wish I lived near your store because I would totally buy one! 🙂
A Teenage Gourmet (Sami) says
Pumpkin rolls are my favorite! I’ll get my hands on that soon. Also, my HUGE bag of goodies is already half gone. 🙂 Thank you for taking time to sit down with me (and the shallot vinaigrette 😉 )

The more pumpkin flavor the better! At least add some pumpkin pie spice to the cream cheese. I bet your roll will put the one on the back of the Libbys can to shame.

Dearly love pumpkin baked goods of any kind. Your roll looks Fan-tas-tic! I’ll bet pumpkin cream cheese would make it even better.
Lauren says
Mmmm, pumpkin. I am craving it crazily-it’s all your fault Kath! 😉 Kidding, I’m just excited for fall and my birthday in a week and a day!
I have never had a rolled cake before but that looks positively scrumptious. And your curried tuna sandwich looks yummy. I wish I could have one delivered from Charlottesville-along with a bowl of soup, it would be the perfect food to help me get over the cold or whatever I have right now. I wouldn’t ask anyone to do the drive for me though, I’ll just have I get it next time I’m in town!
Andrea @ Onion in My Hair says

Kath I have been following your blog for about 3 years , and am so excites about your bakery doing well ! Is there any gluten free options avaible?
KathEats says
Hey Janelle!
We grind our wheat in the store, so doing gluten-free is very very hard. We don’t have anything right now
Janelle says
Hi! Yah I understand that would be very difficult and pricey! If I ever come to cville I would love to meet up with you , my mom is constanly making fun of my ” crazy food mixtures” (as she calls them ) that I get from your site. You have been such an inspiration to me over the years in being healthy and with that I’m
Enjoying life to it’s fullest ! Thanks !

In Kansas, we call the Pumpkin-Oh a pumpkin roll or pumpkin log, and many people add marshmallow creme to the filling, which makes it extra fluffy.

Hillary says
How do you make GH bread sound even more delicious?

I love all manner of pumpkin in the fall! We enjoyed our pumpkin spice coffee this morning, even though it is about 20 degrees too hot at 90. Anyway, this looks divine! Can’t wait to make a pumpkin loaf myself…or I’ll just wait for my neighbor. She makes a delicious one and loves to share! (I’ve got great neighbors!)

Yum! I make pumpkin rolls every year. I actually sort of mass produce them (using recipe on the Libby’s label) and then wrap them up and freeze them. That way I have fall/holiday desserts ready at all times for parties or even hostess gifts. I happen to work for a company that makes a great silicone jelly roll pan so they are super easy and it helps me with sales too. Thanks for the reminder that it’s not too early to start making them!
katie @KatieDid says
ohh yum to that O! That’s something we have every year at family parties, it reminds me of home so much.
Rebecca says
you are KILLING me with all that pumpkin…our grocery store is still bare-shelved! I am seriously contemplating a pumpkin scavenger hunt tomorrow…:)

I would like a curry tuna sandwich with some pumpkin beer please. I always have to get my Kath fix before bedtime. Love your posts. I have been making baked pumpkin oatmeal this past week with mango and blueberries. I love it for breakfast and dessert at night topped with mango yogurt
Brittnie (A Joy Renewed) says
Oh man that pumpkin roll looks amazing. Love fall flavors! I made pumpkin oatmeal for breakfast this AM. So good. Glad you had a fun day back at the bakery.
Diana @ frontyardfoodie says
Mmm my hubs and I made a pumpkin spice ale last year and it was so much fun. Definitely a novelty beer, and only for one time of the year, but it was tasty.
Lara @TresLaLa says
Holy pumpkin loaf. That looks amazing.
Bonbon says
I have never had pumpkin roll before, but I assume it would have similar texture and taste as chest nuts? They’re both sweet and mushy. I have had chestnut cake/bread before and it was amazing!
Elisabeth says
Pumpkin roll…yum! That’s one of my 3 favorite pumpkin treats (along with PSL from Starbucks & Pumpkin Pie) – my aunt makes a great homemade one, but I’m betting the GH one is even better 😀
Sally Anne @ PaleoRunnerGirl says
I love how y’all get so creative with your GH offerings. The bakery closest to us always sticks with the same loafs. I am a fan of variety! That pumpkin roll looks yummy! I would recommend a pumpkin/cinnamon/pecan infused cream cheese filling….just a thought…

That swirl loaf looks so good!

So happy for pumpkin season! I made some yummy banana/pumpkin bread yesterday. It’s almost gone!
