Hello!! Blogging from my grandparents’ computer. THANK goodness they have high speed internet here and I can be fast!! We’ve got dinner at The Blue Stone (I think) in 15 minutes so I have to type fast!!
Breakfast
Breakfast started bright and early at 6:30 a.m. with oatmeal, banana, brown sugar, cinnamon, and hot tea. The usual 🙂 ~375 kcal.
Here is my sister and me embarking on our trip!
Snack
We hit the road at 7:30 and talked for 5 hours straight!! We both got hungry around 10:15 and had some pistachios and carrots. I packed lots of fun healthy snacks for emergency road trip hunger!
Lunch
Surprisingly, the small snack held me until noon when we opened the exciting brown bag lunches!!
Turkey, cheddar, lettuce, mustard, and banana pepper sandwich on multi grain bread:
And sides of clementines, carrots and yogurt. I discovered I really like raw big carrots as opposed to the baby ones. These have a stronger and sweeter taste.
Lunch calories were about 500, after some quick math.
Snack
At my grandparents’ I had a Diet Root Beer and a chocolate chip cookie for a snack around 3:30 after we went shopping at Loemann’s. I got a really cool Guess coat, a leather purse and some ncie sweaters and underwear!
Walk
My sister and I went for an hour long walk in the neighborhood. It was great to get in some exercise! We’re hoping to go running first thing in the morning and walking after our drive to New Jersey. We’ll see! But the walk was great.
Off to dinner!!

Have a great stay in Baltimore! You got lucky with the warm weather! Enjoy Blue Stone, it's a really good restaurant, we go there at least once a month!

Have a great time with your grandparents! 🙂 By the way, your sister looks like Connie Britton – an actress from Friday Night Lights!

I always think big carrots are sweeter than baby ones too, even though I'm pretty sure baby carrots are just big carrots cut into smaller pieces. Maybe it's all in our head, but the big ones definitely taste better to me, too! Maybe they are fresher??

Awww, you and your sis are so cute!

Had a question about oatmeal portions– I know Kath is on vacation so anyone's answers are welcome. This week I made the old fashioned Quaker Oatmeal for the first time. I followed the directions on the package— half a cup of dry oats with milk or water. Well after it cooked the portion size was HUGE!! Like 3x as much from the instand packets. Am I supposed to eat all of it or just half a cup after it cooks? Is it still 130 calories??

1/2 cup dry oats = 150 calories, so you can eat it all after it cooks (I think it ends up being about 1 cup) for only 150 calories! That's the right portion…lots of yummy oatmeal! It just expands when you cook it…sometimes mine overflows, so make sure you keep your eye on it! 🙂

Melissa,
That's the beauty of real oats – you get a LOT of 150 kcal!!! I don't know why anyone would ever eat instant…
