We had a special guest join us for breakfast! Mr. Great Harvest himself, Mike Ferretti! He’s in town speaking at the UVA business school, and since we don’t yet have GH bread to serve him, we settled for oats
Mini oatmeal buffet
He liked the freshly opened jar of Nuttzo PF a lot (and Mike’s quite the nut butter aficionado!) I had forgotten how good it was too! Texture heaven.
Last night’s homemade crunchy buckwheat granola
Jamz
Coffee
I made a triple pot of whipped banana with chia seeds.
Topped with Bella Eats Peach Ginger Jam, Nuttzo PF and homemade granola
Two of these guys!
The morning fun doesn’t stop there – Tina, Gina and I have bonded together to spice up some OpenSky deals for a Healthy Living Halloween!
I’m sporting the vampire repelling Garlic Gold oil – 20% off through Halloween. We’re going to be trick or treating out some other deals and steals in the next week or so too! Be on the lookout for Ghost Blood on sale. Boo
Have a spooky day!
Heather (Heather's Dish) says
mason jars win every time – i bought about 24 the other day and use them for EVERYTHING 🙂
Amanda (Eating Up) says
I love that OpenSky promo! You guys looks so festive surrounded by orange and black! 🙂

Samantha @ Bikini Birthday says
Oh that IS a very special guest indeed! I hope he liked the oatmeal buffet
laurie says
Do you keep your Garlic Gold in the fridge? What about regular olive oil?
Kath says
Nope
Nana Phyllis says
Great looking breakfast. How is the GH location search going? I’d like to find one of those half off coupons that Emily found so I could order a vita mix at half price!! You’d be my hero if I could get hooked up with that deal!!
Kath says
We have a location. Working on the lease. These things take major time.
Kristy@ KristyRuns.com says
I love the idea of an oatmeal buffet! Genius! 🙂
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
I’d be very nervous about having the President and CEO of a major company over to my house for breakfast, or any meal, for that matter, but I think it’s cool that you did. Much nicer and more personal than just going out for breakfast somewhere 🙂
steph says
I just found out there is a Great Harvest over by my parent’s house – can’t wait to stop by!
Courtney (Pancakes & Postcards) says
that is a really cute promo. must try this garlic gold stuff…

skinnyrunner says

Katie @ The Boston Marathoner says
I just picked up a jar of Crofter’s in my local grocery store and thought I recognized it from somewhere. This morning I wrote about making Kath’s overnight oats! I’m definitely hooked. I made sure to send people to the Tribute to Oatmeal page, which is my favorite. Bring on the oats!
Alyssa says
Nothing better than an oatmeal buffet!
Marina says
I would love to have breakfast at your place 😀 with all that amazing toppings and nut butters, that would be one awesome bowl of oats!
Lindsey says
As usual your oatmeal spread trumps anything I would think of! I actually wrote about how your love for oatmeal changed my breakfasts for the better in my blog post today 🙂
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Perfect breakfast fuel! I love making oatmeal for people. They are always so amazed that it is more than just oats!
J3nn(Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
I hope to be a guest at an oatmeal buffet as lovely as yours some day!!!
Holly @ couchpotatoathlete says
I’m guessing Ghost Blood is Artisana Coconut Butter??? Because ghosts have white blood, right? 🙂
How cool to be with Mr. Great Harvest himself!
Lyn says
I cannot WAIT to get to my goal weight so I can switch from *low carb* to *good carb* and have yummy oatmeal again!
Kath says
LYN!!!!!!!!!! Please eat your carbs. Weight is about energy balance, not carbs. Oatmeal is a wonderful food to eat while losing weight!!
Whitney says
But Kath would you agree that adding 12 sugary toppings on top of oatmeal is not a great way to lose weight? There are healthier options than this, I would think. Just playing devil’s advocat! Have a great day! 🙂
Amy says
You can eat oatmeal without lots of sugary toppings, sure. I have oats, almond butter, and almond milk (with some raisins thrown in for texture, but that’s just me). No sugar there, and it’s delicious!
Sara says
I’m sorry? Raisins have no sugar? ha!!
Amy says
Eh, I like raisins and I’m not trying to cut my sugar. I just wanted to point out that you don’t have to have lots of sugary toppings for oatmeal to be delicious on its own.
Kath says
Well I hardly think my toppings are 12 in count and are all made of sugar. I am more liberal because I’m not trying to lose weight and have the wiggle room. I didn’t recommend that she put on lots of toppings – just that oatmeal itself is totally fine. Even with banana, chias and a spoonful of peanut butter is totally fine if it fits into energy needs
Holly @ couchpotatoathlete says

How cool to meet Mr. Great Harvest!

Holly @ couchpotatoathlete says
Ha! Sorry Kath, no idea why this showed up 3 times!
Teresa @ Teresa Tastes & Travels says
We cleared out an entire cupboard a few months ago and turned it into an “oatmeal station.” It’s like an oatmeal buffet every day! I love that you set it all out this way! I will definitely have to try the granola recipe. Why are oats so addicting!?
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
my dream is to one day have you cook me one of your famous batches of oats, kath!
The Wife of a Dairyman says
Great Harvest bakeries look So delicious and fresh….wish we had one near where I live in northern CA:) Love the oats buffet:)
Bri says
Kath, the oats look delicious. I’ve been getting really into overnight oats lately thanks to you. Last night instead of using all milk, I used 1/2 milk and 1/2 coconut juice. It was delicious and the perfect amount of sweetness!
Krystina (Organically Me) says
Your “oatmeal buffets” are always so cute.
ann says
I LOVE your blog! I blame you for my pumpkin obsession. 🙂 I linked you on my last 2 blog posts! Just thought I’d let you know – maybe it will be less stalker-ish this way. 🙂
Tracey says
Kath, thank you – I have been wanting to try Garlic Gold, so the promo was perfect! Cannot wait until it arrives. 🙂
Krista says
Thanks for the promo. I’ve been wanting to try it forever. But, $19 shipping for a $13 product is a little insane.
Tracey says
Krista, mine came to $19 with shipping, so $19 total ($13 for the Garlic Gold and $6 for shipping).
$19 for shipping alone would have scared me off, too! 🙂
Krista says
disregard. just tried it again and it gave me $6 shipping. Thanks again for the promo.
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
Oooo 20% off Garlic Gold? I’m there!
Laughter-Loving Stacy says

How cool! I used to work at the business school. Looks like I missed an opportunity to hear Mr. Ferretti speak, what a bummer!
Sarah-Mae @ Eat, Run, Knit says
So fun! I love that Mr. GH came for a visit, that really says a lot about his business ethics to me, and I approve! Bring GH to Canada!
Kelly says
Darn – I’ve been dying to try Garlic Gold, and when I saw the promotion I was sold, however, they can’t ship to Canada!
Brian Chossek says

Haley says
Umm, yum!
Do you sell anything you make yourself on OpenSky? I’m trying to find a good way to sell my jewelry online… do you know of any good programs? I’ve heard of etsy but I’m such a tech-challenged person that I’m not sure I’d be able to work it right. lol.
Kath says
I don’t personally make anything, but I could definitely help you get your name out there. Send me an email 🙂
