After finishing up my computer work this morning, I zoned out for SIX hours putting together all of the nursery furniture. Plus rearranging thanks to BERF recommendations.
Things definitely went wrong. Two of them I was able to recover.
One is pretty obvious…oops. Where’s the white paint?!
With the addition of the furniture and the rearrangement, the nursery has gone from like to love!
More details in next week’s BERF nursery post!!
I’m one of those instant gratification types who doesn’t stop once I start a project. Thus, it was 1:30 when I realized I needed to eat. I wasn’t even that hungry, but I was edging onto going too long.
I put together a delicious wrap with hummus, cheese, greens and a pickle, all heated under the broiler
And ate a delicious mango!!
Glass of milk on the side! Hydrating sustenance.
Pulled a Girl Scout cookie out of the freezer to end the meal….and got back to work.
Now about these blisters on my hands…
Heather says
I’m confused! What went wrong?
KathEats says
I didn’t elaborate for sake of details, but stripped screws x 10, cracked wood, and a major mishap on my part putting drawer on backwards that I was able to brilliantly recover by getting out the drill 🙂

You are a brave soul to tackle putting Ikea furniture together by yourself! I am so intimidated by the instructions that I just wait for my husband to do it….haha. The nursery is looking awesome! Putting it all together must make it seem so real that there will be a baby in there soon! 🙂
Johanna B says
It’s been a very long time since I put furniture together. Hmm, I need a new bookcase.
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
Totally treated myself to a mango at WF after seeing yours a couple of weeks ago. I almost skipped it b/c they didn’t have any organic, but decided that it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world (we try to do mostly organic or local and chemical-free, but we’re definitely not 100%). It was delicious, and my little guy loved it, too!
Evelyn says
I love hemnes! I have the black/brown version. The two bigger dressers, the bed, and bedside table. It took a long time to assemble everything, but I still love them 4 years later. (except the bedside table – the tiny drawer is somewhat useless..)
love!
mary @ minutespermile says
IKEA is like your dear relative from Sweden. You love him to death, but whenever you try to sit down and communicate it just doesn’t work. Still, you keep going to visit because the meatballs are just so freaking tasty.
Kcirrehs says
Dear Mary,
Thank you for making me laugh this morning.
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
oh my gosh, the cheese in that wrap is literally making my mouth water! (TMI?) and I have the same bedside table in my apartment! Gotta love IKEA!
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Baby room looks lovely…bright and cheery! Ikea can be headache producing once brought back home…I totally understand the excitement that is fueling you through the construction!
j3nn says
The sneak peek of the crib looks very nice!
That wrap looks quite scrumptious, too. I thought the mango was a side of cheese at first glance, hehe!
Cait's Plate says
I adore that mug your milk is in!
Good luck with the nursery…it really is coming together beautifully!
Faith@Gracefulfitness says
Thanks! My mom made it! 🙂
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I love the pale green that you’ve got on the walls! And nice job on the furniture construction – that is definitely not one of my strong points!
Hillary B says
Oooo totally digging the re-arranging! The space seems to flow better, in my opinion! I like the dresser in that sunny spot by the closet.
KathEats says
I can’t believe we didn’t think of this way before. Well actually it’s because of the other changing table, but still, very happy!
Alex says
I have been dying to ask – when you make wraps, what kind do you use?! They always look so delicious and grainy – my favorite!
KathEats says
Whole Foods brand!
Sana says
Blah, I hate putting together things. Ikea makes the directions super complicated! I don’t get how to put piece X with piece S on top of K and L. Ugh.
Molly @ RDexposed says
I alwaaays put a piece of furniture on backwards when assembling!
Nescett @ bananaoats says
Ooooh Kath! I put together the big version of that dresser a few years ago and it was an **alll day** project. I was so tired. Good luck!
Andrea @ The Skinny Chronicles says
Looks like your hands are full! What a project! Can’t wait to see the next BERF post with all the updates!
daphna says
Kath, is your open sky tea in bags or loose? I couldn’t tell. Thanks!!
KathEats says
The Golden Moon? Yes
Becky says
Yes in bags? Or yes loose?
KathEats says
I’m sorry, yes loose
Ashley @ Eat, Sleep, and Breathe It says
I am loving that green paint color! And I’m no good when it comes to home projects…especially putting furniture together! Ugh!
Dudette says
This is a really nice room. Good job on assembling all the furniture – it would take me forever!
Cherleen @ My Personal Finance Journey says
I love the color of your nursery. The combination of green and white gives a light and refreshing feeling. You deserve that mango treat after your hard work. Congratulations!
Kim @ Spoonful of Sass says
Looks great. Love the colors!!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Cute mug!! And I could definitely go for some mango…
Isa says
BERF! adorable!!
Kathy W. says
The room looks more light and open this way, and you can hang something over the dresser for the baby to look at (when he gets big enough). Also, the crib looks protected in the corner. There’s a lot of truth to that feng shui stuff 🙂
Khushboo Thadani says
The nursery is coming along great!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
that mango is PERFECT!
and so is the nursery. BRAVO to you, Kath! 6 hours..omg?! Even non-pregnant, there is no way I could have done that. I use the handyman services on Craiglist for stuff like that 🙂 I try to be handy, but am not that handy to be putting together cribs and such!
L says
The nursery looks great! So calm and relaxing. Baby Kerf will love it!
Maria@Sinfully Nutritious says
Love that mug.
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
The nursery is looking great! I love the green walls – it gives it such a calming feel!
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
That’s a big job to handle yourself…Congrats!
Willow @ My Own Trail says
The nursery looks great! I love how you rearranged it. But, I have to be honest. The mango stole the show today. It looks so delicious! Now I have to go buy one. It’s funny, because I never actually liked mango until about a year ago. I always wanted to like them, but every time I tried one I just couldn’t get into it. Then, something just clicked last year and suddenly I loved them! I guess it’s just proof that we can all learn to like new things.
Joanna @ Midwestern Bite says
I love the new layout!
~Christy @ wonderofallthings says
Sometimes it’s nice to just buckle down and get the job done. Looks like with good results! The only drawback of IKEA is those crummy directions 😉 Looks like a yummy, satisfying lunch. Congrats on getting it all together!
Angel7 says
Your oops is nothing to worry about 🙂 I am a major perfectionist, but I have learned to look past imperfections 🙂
