We had a great little Easter full of warm weather and sunshine. Just like the Easter bunny used to do when I was little, he or she hid Mazen’s basket in the house so he had to hunt for it. It only took him about 15 minutes to find it, but he sure was excited! (It was in my master bath tub!)
His basket had waaaaay too much chocolate and sugar (oops!) but he loved every inch of it. (Great Harvest Pecan Swirl for early breakfast!)
We got dressed up and headed to Thomas’s parents’ house for brunch and an egg hunt with Thomas’s nephew! The boys had a great time hunting for eggs. I think we hid about 50 eggs, so between the two of them they kept going and going and going like little energizer bunnies!
After the hunt, we had a great brunch of waffles with fruit and bacon. Delicious!!
Back at home we changed out of our Sunday best and finished planting everything we bought in my Saturday snapshots post!
We tackled the whole front yard on Saturday and the back yard today, including the vegetable and herb gardens.
I’m working with Beanstalk Seeds on my garden this year, so stay tuned for more details on that!
Mazen ran around with our neighbor friends all afternoon while we worked in the yard, and they set up a herb stand by the sidewalk. They only had a few customers, but all of the income is being donated to those in need downtown. (And they “sold” more than one leaf at a time!)
After we scrubbed the dirt off of our cheeks and ankles, T and I made this Blue Apron recipe for dinner with our own ingredients because it was so good the first time around! This is the best meatloaf I’ve ever had, and I think the combo of cinnamon, chipotle sauce, and golden raisin is to thank. Plus the super-thinly sliced Yukon golds!
I spent the evening writing this post and double mopping our kitchen floor, which was covered in pollen and dirt from the weekend. School is out today, so we’re off on another adventure!

That meatloaf looks great! In the recipe it just says what is in the spice blend. When you made it did you just use equal amounts of each of those?

We just guessed and did about 1/2 tsp of the first 3 and a pinch of the second three

Gardening is one of those things I so wish I could get into, but I just can’t. It reminds me of other things my mother loves like antique shopping and yard sales, man I hated those as a kid. Maybe I just need to grow up a little to love it? Or just accept it won’t be my thing? It is super cool when I see others do it and I’m always jealous despite having no desire to partake! I’m weird ha ha

Haha my parents were the same way!! I am not so much into watering flowers every morning, but I love growing food I can eat! #practical : )
