#1: Get dressed to make you feel good about yourself! That doesn’t mean dress in your fanciest attire, but just enough to make you feel confident–> that is the key!
#2: While getting ready in the morning, think about something that makes you happy and/or laugh! It can be about what will happen later that day, a funny pic/joke, or even something that you are good at. So think about that awesome grade you earned on a test and feel confident as you make your way into your day.

I always start the day with warm lemon water and a long walk with my pup… Perfect way to start the day with some fresh air and I’ve read that the warm lemon water is good for your body first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

Sometimes, with nursing school, mornings are very rushed for me. The best way to start off a weekday is to enjoy my favorite whipped banana oatmeal (made with Quaker Old Fashioned Oats) with nut butter plus a big cup of coffee – YUM! I’ve lived on this breakfast since high school and am surprised that I still love it today. On weekends, oatmeal protein pancakes all the way and a nice leisurely walk with my dog!

My best tip for a smooth running morning is to get up earlier than you “need to.” This gives you time to deal with those unanticipated problems that often crop up, like finding a missing shoe, looking for a misplaced backpack, or cleaning up dog barf!! I find I’m a lot less stressed if I have built some margin into my morning and I’m not so frantic to meet that deadline to rush out the door. Quaker Oats are often my go to morning meal. I like to add fruit and pumpkin pie spice…yum!!!!!
