We’ve been eating lots of green smoothies round here ^^
Sorry I went MIA for the long weekend – man it’s been nice to hang out at home for a few days! I went to two yoga classes and just enjoyed being in our house for a few days to relax. We went out for New Years and had fun with friends downtown. It is so fun that 2016 has everyone saying “Twenty Six”-teen!!
We’re having a patio put in in our backyard, so that’s been really exciting to watch!!
Can I just say how hard this Thomas train is to put together? Mazen and I gave up after 10 minutes. Will try again later!
I made this soup out of miso I had in the fridge plus veggie broth, leftover rice, wild salmon and roasted broccoli.
The Charlie Bit Me video is our new favorite entertainment! Mazen thinks it’s hilarious. Only downside is all the biting that has happened to my fingers….
Eggs, and toast, and fruit, oh my!
New Years Eve run!!
I went to New Year’s Day Glow With The Flow yoga at Fly Dog. Always a fun time!! My new Victoria’s Secret pants (for an upcoming post!) were the perfect choice.
The next day I went to a 90 minute hot power class at Hot Yoga Cville. The instructor, Kelly, was amazing, and it was an awesome class!!!! I want to go back soon!
It might be January, but pumpkin oats are still in.the.house!!
What did you guys do for New Year’s?
Sam @ Grapefruit & Granola says
Your yoga pants look very fun! Hope you guys have a great 2016 🙂
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
I wonder if that’s the same train set my boyfriend got his son for Christmas? He said there’s different tracks that don’t necessarily match up or like it’s two separate sets in one…

I just looooove your posts! ;). Thank you! I’d love to know what smoothie this is?
KathEats says
thanks! I don’t remember the exact combo, but I usually add banana, spinach, oats, milk, and sometimes yogurt/peanut butter/cinnamon/almond butter/frozen fruit too.
Lou says
I just love your enthusiasm! Happy New Year! Love the lean look in the glow yoga
Kelsey says
Fun, a new patio! Can’t wait to see the finished product!!!!
Sagan says
Glowing yoga?! That sounds amazing!
We went to a friend’s place for New Year’s Eve and had an awesome time at a small gathering of our closest friends—might have been the best NYE yet. *Still* settling into 2016, though 😉
Kelli @ Hungry Hobby says
We had the best date night ever!

I love that you took a break over the weekend. Your exercise classes always sound so fun!
Laura says
Happy 2016! 🙂
We found the trackmaster sets tricky setting up the first few times but much easier after repeated attempts. If you can find the Action Canyon set on ebay or Craigslist it’s a great investment, it’s huge and you can play around with the track variations quite a bit. Ours is long gone or I would have passed it on to you.

That Thomas track is THE WORST. Just throw it away and stick to the wood. It is so bad. Even if you get it assembled, it barely holds the weight of trains if they are elevated. Then the kid gets mad, etc. Not worth it!
KathEats says
oh no!! Thanks for the head’s up
Laurie says
That fruit salad looks so good right now! I’m curious though about how people are saying twenty sixteen…is there another way to pronounce it?
KathEats says
26 is my lucky number so I didn’t even think about that people would be saying twenty six-teen instead of two thousand sixteen until now!
Katie @ Live Half Full says
Glow yoga looks so fun! I went to yoga on NYE and there was a DJ. It was a flow class and so much fun!
tracy says
What brand/model are your earbuds?
KathEats says
This is them!
Heather @ fit mama real food says
Oh that glow yoga class sounds like so much fun! New Years was pretty uneventful around here – I made it until 11 which is pretty good for me!

My son has a small Thomas track at his grandparent’s and he never uses it because it is terrible! But at home we have Brio trains and tracks and some off-brand wood, which he is always playing with! So I’d switch to those. They will last forever and can be shared with the grand kids some day.
Just a quick smoothie question (we’ve been making a lot around here since a new Ninja was a Christmas gift)…what is Mazen’s favorite smoothie combo? I’m getting kind of bored of spinach/strawberry/banana but want something else kid friendly + vegetables…
Happy New Year to you and your family!
KathEats says
We have lots of Brio that we love!! : )
And I usually do banana, spinach, oats, and milk and add things like yogurt/frozen berries/peanut butter/chia seeds on occasion

The boys got that train set for their birthday in November. It took Bryan all afternoon to put it together but I will say they played with it all the time. It takes up alot of room though and we are currently living in an apartment while our house is being built so we had to put it away to make room for Christmas. I think Bryan wanted to strangle me when he came home and saw I had packed it up after all of his hard work!

Fellow yogi here- cool picture! I actually just completed my 200 HR certification. But I wanted to warn you and anyone looking that your foot placement know tree pose is dangerous and considered unsafe. The foot should be either completely above or completely below the knee, not next to it. The logic is that your knee is not intended to bed outwards or inwards and a small push could do a lot of damage or potentially misalign the knee which could show up during movement later on. For anyone looking at the photo, please keep that in mind. And to you Kath, please protect your knees!
