I’ve been up since the 5:00 hour – I couldn’t sleep my mind was so excited and racing with thoughts. So now I’m headachy and tired. I think this might be the beginning of second trimester insomnia [Caitlin dealt with this too.] A month ago I could sleep 10 hours no problem – now my body wants to think!
Breakfast was easy today – cereal!
- Uncle Sam’ Strawberry (I got this at a blog event and normally wouldn’t pick something with freeze dried fruit. Not because I don’t think it’s natural enough, just because I tend to prefer plain and add my own mixins. But I’m really loving the strawberry essence!!)
- Shredded wheat
- Lots O banana
- Chia seeds
- Sunbutter
- Milk
Hot tea – because even though our high today is 75* (!!), hot tea helps me wake up : )
And the moment so many of you have anticipated!
Baby KERF debuts!
And a real happy birthday to Emily!!

Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Yay for the BERFday!! 🙂 I just read your ultrasound post – how exciting!! I’m a regular morning workout person and get up at a rather insane hour, so on the weekends I have crazy annoying insomnia from about 6am onward. I think I’m doomed for the day I actually decide to have kids and experience pregnancy insomnia too!
kaila@ healthy helper blog! says

Yay I’m so excited BERF launched today. I have been waiting not so patiently if I must say. I think it’s cool you did a separate blog for family stuff so now other people won’t complain about you sharing baby stuff of KERF and those of us that wanna know can enjoy the experience with you. Thanks for sharing kath and I look forward to read BOTH your blogs everyday 🙂
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Congradulations on the birth of BERF! I only wish I had kept better accounts of my journey to look back on. You think you will remember it forever…but time has a way of selecting only some of the memories…ususally the best ones, but still, it would have been nice. Have fun with it!

time to add another blog to my daily reading list 😀

Baby KERF is blocked on my computer at work because it contains information on sex education. Guess I’ll have to read it elsewhere.
KathEats says
Oh dear!!!
briana says
yay! BERF looks great, Kath! just curious–do you plan on indicating on KERF when new posts are up on BERF and providing a link?
KathEats says
No, not in my KERF posts, but I will add the RSS feed in a widget if that would be helpful?
KathEats says
Added it on the right – so you can see new post links there.
Holly @ thefrozenpineapple says
Hi Kath! This is very belated, but… CONGRATULATIONS! I should have said it earlier, but I’ll admit that I’m having a hard time getting excited about babies right now… NOT that I want one yet, but I’m in that stage of life where EVERYONE is pregnant or on their second (or third) and we haven’t started yet. I hear the biological clock getting louder (we’re the same age), but with THREE MORE YEARS of school, I just can’t get excited about that yet. So, anyway, major congrats from Buffalo!
Also, I saw those negative comments some people wrote about on your blog and wanted to give you some positive feedback 🙂 I still read your blog, not for nutritional info necessarily (but I love the tid bits here and there!), but for the pretty pictures and to keep up with what’s going on with you. And I would NEVER have thought to adorn my oatmeal with peanut butter if it were not for you! Those waffles from this morning looked amazing (I’ve made something similar with cottage cheese flavored with fresh ginger, if you can imagine)… I get such inspiration for my food just by seeing what you pair together.
Keep up the good work and I’m excited for you both, and for BERF!
holly
KathEats says
Thanks Holly!

Love the clever pun on BERF… love the blog as well! You are so creative :). It is very inspiring.
Sarah@The Flying ONION says
I’m not a mom, but I’m so excited about your new blog’s debut! How exciting. 😀
And breakfast sounds lovely. I’ll have to check out the Uncle Sam Strawberry. I find that even the plain Uncle Sam satisfies all the right spots (with some x-tra add-ins, of course!)
Happy Friday, Kath! 😀
Jacqueline@digintobooks says
This is such an exciting blogpost day! I can’t believe BERF is born! 🙂 I look forward to reading KERF and BERF now!!
Kerry @ Totes My Oats says
Congrats, Kath! So excited to check out BERF!
Kathy W. says
Too much Vit. B6 over time can sometimes cause insomnia. Maybe as you cut back/don’t have to use the anti-nausea med, you’ll sleep better, too.
Kelly @ Foodie Fiasco says
Congragulations on BERF!!! I am so excited for you. You are going to be such a great mom! 😉
Maureen says
Happy BERF-day!! I do not have children, do not know if I WANT kids, but I am a sucker for reading anything baby related…weird, I know!
Janice says
I was wondering what kind of sweetener do you use for your tea? Or do you not use a sweetener?
KathEats says
More often than not I don’t use anything. But sometimes – esp. in the afternoons or dessert tea – I use Stevia in the Raw.
Megan Infantino says
Is there a way to get to the BERF blog from the KERF blog?
KathEats says
Yes, on the side bar there’s an RSS feed and button —>
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
I really like the Uncle Sam’s Strawberry. It actually surprised me how much I like it. Yummy!! 🙂
Angel7 says
I am not big fan of dried fruit either, but if it were the only fruit I had on-hand, I would eat it.
Glad to hear that BERF launched 🙂

Yeah sonograms are crazy. Looking at your baby and what it’s doing in there is super incredible.
We’re cooking up our second child and watching his sonogram in contrast with his brothers reveals a lot! We can more easily visualize what he’ll be like because of how we watched our first son grow. Insane. Parenthood rocks.
Laura says
Does Berf have an archive section? I’ve been having the best time winding my way through the Kerf archives but I couldn’t find one over there to follow along with too. Am I looking in the wrong place?
PS Thanks for sharing so much of your incredible journey. My favorite part of the day is visiting with you virtually : ) Your upbeat attitude and healthy outlook are truly inspiring!
KathEats says
If you look at the top navigation bar there’s a tab called All Posts. That’s everything in order! And thanks so much : )
