I got sucked into the whirlwind of life and after a 4 hour trip to get Mazen’s hair cut and Target, I’m back to catch up and say hello. We are having some FAB weather here in Cville and I’m eager to get back outside!! I’m sure you are too : ) Or maybe you are reading on your phone in some beautiful park or on the beach. I hope so!
Thursday morning oatmeal!! Whipped banana with granola and peanut butter. Long time, no Buddha bowl!
I have been loving this local kombucha. Formerly Nugget’s Raw Kombucha, the new Mountain Culture Kombucha is the same flavors from before – although I think they have improved! The Citra-hops is one of my favorites, but the Blueberry Lemongrass is a close second. We sell them at the bakery. They make a great cocktail hour drink when you don’t need a buzz.
Lunch yesterday was some of our black beans served in a bowl with cilantro, red peppers, hot sauce and yogurt. Chip crumbs on the side!
Last night I went out with 3 of my girlfriends to Bang! where we had amazing cocktails and a TON of small plates to share. The Afterglow – bourbon with lemongrass – is my fav!
Here are just some of the highlights of our dishes. I didn’t get a photo of the bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapenos, but they were easily my favorite dish of the night!
Simple breakfast today because I didn’t want a full stomach for tabata class at 9:15! Egg sandwich with PB&J plus some strawberries.
Tabata was great and got me very red in the face (which I consider to be a good indicator of how hard I’m working!) I love that the class is 45 minutes and moves through high intensity intervals at a nice pace. Vanessa always has good music too!
We had lunch at Great Harvest!
Matt and I shared this giant salad packed with all of our sandwich toppings and an avocado dressing he whipped up.
We spent the afternoon in traffic trying to get up 29. There were a lot of roads blocked for some reason! When we finally got there I squealed over all of the gold nautical stuff. I may have come home with some new pillows!
Unpacking your load from Target is quite the workout!
Have a great weekend!!

My husband made a giant batch of kombucha, so now we have it in the fridge whenever we want it — and it was practically free to make! I used to hate the taste, but now I pretty much can’t go a day without it.

Can anyone give a decent description of what kombucha tastes like?
Tonya says
hmmm maybe kinda like the lightest, fruitiest, bubbliest beer you can imagine? A lot depends on what flavor you get and how fizzy it is. Some people like it, some people don’t. I like the ones with a strong kick. Most of my friends just can’t get with it. My son can stand some of the softer, fruitier tasting brands. You kinda just have to taste around. If I were to suggest a brand, it may not be in your area. (I’m sure this reply was zero percent helpful lol)

So funny! I did a Target trip today with my mom and we both commented on how it was a workout to unload the car.

I NEED that bourbon and lemongrass cocktail in my life! And is that a trio of different types of slaws? Love cocktails and sharing small plates!
