Put on a happy face
We made plans to go running with Andrea and Jess this morning and woke up to a drizzling dreary rain.
But the girls showed up and we decided the run was worth the wet! I’m so glad we decided to go 🙂 It was a fun easy run up and down the winding streets and hills of Charlottesville. We did 4.25 miles and ended back at the hotel for some water and blog chatting.
We said our goodbyes and went on to make breakfast. The breakfast was actually pretty decent with yogurts, oatmeal, soy milk!!, hard boiled eggs, and good coffee.
I decided it was an oatmeal kinda day! I used one packet of instant plain with 1 sliced banana and hot water. I also microwaved it for a bit to thicken it up even more.
And was excited to use this Barney Butter packet I brought!
On the side I had a hard-boiled egg for some protein
And a nice coffee
Breakfast was very filling in a good way
We’re off to see a few more sights before we hit the road back to Charlotte, stopping in Greensboro to possibly meet my parents for dinner. But poor Lillis Billis is very sick in Hillsborough – please keep her in your thoughts 🙁
Mara @ What's for Dinner? says

Hi Kath,
Thinking about your kitty – hope she gets well!
We were recently in Charlottesville and ate at Blue Moon Diner….very good for breakfast if you’re in town for another day. They put powdered sugar on their pancakes in the shape of Dwight from “The Office”. Hilarious! (here’s a pic: http://cellularobscura.blogspot.com/2009/06/schrute-cakes.html)
Really enjoying your blog….thanks for the great ideas on food and general well-being.

Oh no, poor Lillis! She is so adorable… I hope she’ll be okay. I’ve had some kitty troubles this year and it’s just heartbreaking.
I’ll be thinking about that adorable piece of fur! 🙂

Glad you were able to get a run in despite the rain – sometimes running in summertime drizzle can be refreshing! And Barney Butter packets are the perfect travel companion. I’m visiting my parents in PA and a packet of BB made an appearance in my breakfast this morning 🙂

Hope your kitty gets well soon! Enjoy your day!

Thanks for your good thoughts about Lillian. We just got home from the emergency vet. She has a bad urinary infection and is now on antibiotics. We’re supposed to push water, although I’m not sure how you do that with a cat. It’s not like we can add apple juice as you do for little kids. Anyway, we’re encouraged.
She’s sends a meow out to any cats that live with Kath’s readers. (I wish she would agree to send a meow out to dogs too, but sadly, Lil is not overly fond of dogs.)

Always inspiring to see examples of healthy, balanced eating even when you’re not at home! It definately takes a little more planning and forethought, but it’s so worth it!! Great blog Kath! 🙂
