After lunch we headed to a wine tasting at The Wine Shop at Foxcroft, one of our favorite wine locations in the area. It was a bit awkward having the camera follow us in, but we ended up making friends with another couple who was at the tasting!
I had about four 1-ounce pours –
The Layer Cake was especially good, mostly label influenced 🙂
Once home we had some downtime to relax before our evening started. We had His and Hers drinks – but she had a few sips of his 8)
Our day of filming ended with a big bang – a few of our friends over for dinner. We had an AWESOME time!!!!!
Cockail hour I had a very small pour to start me off (trying to keep it light until dinner)
And He had a Manhattan, which I sipped off of –
Dinner table –
We made a scrumptious baked pasta dish: Whole wheat penne, ground sirlion (90% lean), mushrooms, zucchini, red pepper, sun-dried tomato, goat cheese, red pepper flakes & cheddar on top. It was all cooked and tossed together and then baked just so the cheese on top melted.
Kate brought a salad (thanks!!!!) to help us out. Arugula, greens, walnuts, cheeses and cranberries – perfect!
Plus the husband’s homemade rolls –
My plate –
Plus a roll that I forgot about –
And wine pour #2
Seconds!! Mostly salad, some pasta.
The girls all split a Pumpkin Ale, brewed locally here in NC – Cottonwood! My favorite beer from college.
And Amanda and I split another after a while –
And then came dessert!!! Coconut Muffins. Er, cupcakes!! They are really more like cupcakes with icing! They were good, but I think they dried out a little.
Wine pour #3 (small!!)
Justin is quite the home brewer!! He made a dark beer, the Gingerbread Pirate Ale, and a root beer. I had tastes of both, and both were excellent!! The husband has plans to brew with him in the morning 🙂
And ended with one more splash. One of those nights where I should have just had 2 full glasses to make things simpler!
Thanks so much to our friends for coming!!! We had a great time 🙂
And thanks to Marsha and Dave for putting up with us all day long!
I sure hope I didn’t drink too much……. I’m planning to sleep in, run, make a delicious breakfast, and study ALL. DAY. LONG. Ugh.

Whata great pasta dish… I think it is great to showtail how you can make healthy dishes just as easyily that taste just as good, and just use a few substitutions. I often do this when I go to parties or have poeple over because you dont need to tell them what they are eating and then when they do find out it is healtheir they are more apt next time to try something that way!

That pasta dish looks delicious. Any chance you can share the measurements, or did you just throw it together and not measure anything?
Your life is so fun!

I second the request for the baked ziti recipe! It looks absolutely delicious! (as do Matt’s cheesy rolls, but I think I saw him say he would post the recipe – yay!) If you could post the ziti recipe when you have a chance, that would be great!
