^^That goes for life and beauty!! You gotta floss every night to keep those gums healthy. I’m sharing a few of my latest beauty favorites today from head to toe!
I have been loving the doTerra essential oils ever since a friend gave me gift pack for Christmas. My pack has all of the family starter essentials, and I’ve been introducing them bit by bit. I signed up to be a wellness advocate because you save 25% on all purchases, and I wanted to order a few of the blends to try in addition to the single oils in my kit. I also got the doTerra diffuser separately because my kit didn’t come with one and like it a lot (especially that the plug unplugs so you can easily re-fill it with water.) The Deep Blue has been awesome for my swollen and tired soccer feet, the OnGuard was great to have diffusing while we were sick, and some of the blends – like Whisper and Serenity – are my favorite smells when I need a little aromatherapy in the diffuser.
I have written quite a few skincare posts in the past. See them here and here! I am still using mostly Paula’s Choice products because I find them to be a great balance between transparency (what does it do and why), good clean smell, and how I feel they work on my face. And when I worked with Annalise a few years ago, she recommended them, so I’m sticking with a good thing. Their pricing is also middle of the road – just affordable enough for me to use on a daily basis. Somewhere in between drugstore and high end.
I have tried a bunch of different products from Paula’s line, and the RESIST series is definitely my favorite in terms of how the products feel on my skin. My favorites are the Resist Toner, the Resist Daily Smoothing Treatment with 5% AHA, and the Resist Intensive Repair Cream for nighttime, which is my absolute favorite. I tried the Earth Sourced Natural line, but I didn’t think it was quite as good because it was a little thin or something. I have Thomas hooked on the men’s line, which I bought him as a sampler kit. He likes it! (It’s called PC4 Men and he just calls it “PC” instead of Paula’s Choice – haha!)
Two other lines that I’ve tried at spas and love are Eminence Organic Skincare, which they sell at my gym for use after facials and is conveniently on Amazon, and Elemis, which I’ve tried at Neroli Spa and you can buy there or at Nordstrom. When I get facials with these I absolutely love them. The Eminence line has some pretty awesome coconut smelling products, and the Elemis line has this amazing Papaya Enzyme Peel which is alllll about the tropical smell. It also leaves my skin very flushed and glowy! Both lines are very expensive, so that’s obviously why they are spa-worthy, but if I could afford to use them everyday I would!
And last but not least, I did splurge on this hair care line from Birchbox after falling in love with the serum. They sent me a discount coupon in the mail and I had a few credits from reviews, so I bought the shampoo and hair mask too. The smell is just sooo good!!! (PS. I saw these at Ulta the other day!) Plus, who doesn’t think the word “Seaberry” just sounds good?!
What are your favorite skincare products or things to do with essential oils!?

I’ve looked at that diffuser before, I’m glad to hear it’s a good one! I am honestly not the best with skin care – I am just SO tired by the time I’m getting ready for bed, sometimes I skimp on my routine. I’m going to try to start doing all of the skin care stuff right after my baby goes to bed instead of waiting until I go to bed, hopefully that will help! When I AM more on top of things though, I love any face mask with clay; they leave my skin so soft.
KathEats says
I do that a lot! I get ready for bed and put on comfy clothes and then the only thing i have to do is brush my teeth and floss when I’m zonked for bed.

Yes, unless I have evening plans I usually wash my face and do my skincare while my kids are in the bath. <3

Lovin the Doterra site!

I loved that quote in the first picture – so motivating when you think of it in terms of work (and of course, skincare)!

Thanks for the skincare recommendations and referral code! I looked at the PC site and was happy to see they offer reasonably-priced samples of products, which I think is a great way to try before you buy in quantity. Thank you!
KathEats says
Yes, I have tried so many samples that way because I think you always get 3 free samples with every full-size order, so it’s a genius way to keep everyone trying more things! I also love that they now sell travel size too.

I’ve started taking the DoTerra vitality pack supplements and I really like them. I did a DoTerra cleanse in January and thought it was great. I was having trouble losing 8 lbs I had gained and even eating clean I was still struggling. Once I started the cleanse, the weight came off. I’ve continued taking the vitality vitamins and have been able to keep the weight off and feel great. They are great for good gut health!

I’m pretty basic in my skin care — just Neutrogena for me — but I have found that splurging on good anti-frizz stuff makes my naturally curly hair way more manageable in the DC humidity! I’ve never tried essential oils, though I am curious about them. Do you plan on selling them or just using the discount? Asking for a friend lol.
KathEats says
Haha – probably just to get the discount. I’m not sure I want to get into the whole sales thing, but maybe!
Tonya says
I’m thinking about signing up for the discount, too!

Over the past few years I’ve moved more and more towards using natural skincare products, which I feel are better for my skin and the environment. My favourites (I’m UK based) are Korres and Ren. They’re reasonably priced and perform really well. Korres’s shower gels, body lotions and face creams are lovely and I use Ren’s Hot Cloth Cleanser every day.
KathEats says
I haven’t heard of them!

Love this post! Learning about other people’s beauty routines is so fun. Elemis products are amazing. I stayed at a hotel that carried the line, and I have been hooked ever since. I have been meaning to get an oil diffuser. Currently using a ceramic one with a candle, but need something stronger. What do you mean by, the plug unplugs? Like, from the wall?
KathEats says
So one of the things that drives me crazy about things that hold water – humidifiers or diffusers and things – is you have to unplug them to empty and clean the basin each day. If your outlet is, say, behind a couch or console table, I don’t want to have to move the whole couch or table everyday to unplug it. So with this diffuser, it unplugs from the back of the purple part so you can just carry the basin to the sink and leave the outlet untouched. Did I describe that clearly? So confusing!
Amelia says
Totally clear, thanks! That’s a really great feature!

I recently discovered Beautycounter and have really been enjoying the products (and the fact that they ban chemicals from their products). They are definitely on the pricey side, but the products seem to last forever. And I’ve been much better about using more products (mask, exfoliator, eye cream) etc. Hope this helps my breakouts.
I have also started using coconut oil as eye makeup remover and tea tree oil to spot treat pimples. Trying anything I can to remove chemicals wherever I can. In search of a more natural deodorant.

Are you a doTerra ambassador now? What do you think of YoungLiving?
KathEats says
I think I am because I signed up for the wholesale account. I don’t know anything about Young Living.

I recently switched to the Desert Essence line of skincare products, and I really like them! They’re environmentally friendly but not crazy expensive. Available on Amazon. It was my first try at a non “oil-free” skincare line, and I haven’t seen any increased oiliness or breakouts. Skin is moisturized and clean. 🙂

The best skincare I’ve ever used is a German line called Babor. When I first moved to Germany, my skin was a total mess and I was getting married in 6 months. I didn’t want to have horrible skin on my wedding day. I went to a German esthetician (i have German heritage so I thought maybe she knew something I didn’t). The products were magical and my skin was flawless within 1 month. Babor is expensive in Germany but, its even more expensive here in the US! I use only the Pure Fluid now if I have a blemish and its gone in 2 days.

Hey there,
I’m not very familiar with these products but based on your reviews, I might actually try them. I’m kinda basic (I use Cetaphil as my daily cleanser) when it comes to skincare but it doesn’t hurt to try especially if it’s not too expensive. Thanks!

I have always side-eyed the oily people who came at me with weird smells. I became a believer when my sister showed up at Thanksgiving with my 6 year old nephew WITHOUT HIS BACKPACK of nebulizers, rescue inhalers, breathing treatments, etc. It took a year of consistent oil use but his chronic battles with sinus infections and bronchitis greatly decreased. I have had very similar results with my battle with sinus infections/flu/pneumonia, etc. I am NOT suggesting they are miracle healers, but for my family, they have made a huge difference in our battles with upper respiratory infections. And the fact that these are as natural and close-to-nature as you can get, I’ll keep using them. (I’m not a dr, your mileage may vary, don’t sue me, etc, etc)

I love the smell of coconut so much! It’s so sweet and refreshing. The Eminence seems to be a great organic brand and I’d like to give it a try. Thanks for sharing, Kath!

Hello,
I like the power of retinol when it comes to skin care. So, I definitely want to try Paula’s Choice as I have a very dry skin and I hopes this one helps. Thank you for sharing these reviews of your favorites. I bet Paula’s Choice could be my favorite if it will provide a better result for my dry skin.

So glad your partner links stay active! I finally decided to try Birchbox and to help support you went back to an old blog post for the link. It made me think that sometime it might be worth a post to your followers about how professional blogging works (i.e to make a living!) to plant the seed in us to remind us to go back and use your links when we can! Might as well! It only takes 2 seconds longer than googling birchbox. 🙂
KathEats says
Thank you! Birchbox is the best!
