You know how they say that health decline is proportional to an increase in hours watching TV? I think we must have watched like 10 hours of digital entertainment today. Total overload!
Can’t…pull…myself…away…from…Lost!
We got a last-minute invite to join Hillary for dinner tonight. Apparently she had a surplus of tofu! We had no dinner plans, so we were thrilled to help her eat it – and of course since she is a Lost Lover, we covered an entire second disc today!
Hillary made Mama Pea’s BBQ Tofu, which I LOVED, long with roasted cauliflower + broccoli, brown rice and MMMM SAUCE!
This was my first time having the Mmmm Sauce. I was a bit lukewarm on first taste with a spoon, but over everything on my plate – LOVED it! It added so much flavor to everything. I hate to compare it to this, but you know that white sauce you get at hibachi grill places? The one Larbs and I used to dump over everything a la ranch dressing when we were in elementary school? That’s what the Mmmm Sauce reminded me of, and thus, I loved it.
Thanks for dinner H!
For dessert, Hillary brought out two more blogger recipes: Chocolate Covered Katie’s Cookie Dough Dip [made with coconut butter, which I have gotten Hillary hooked on ; ) ] and Katie’s Vegan Fudge, made with bananas and coconut butter.
Like the sauce, the cookie dough took me a few bites to warm up to, but it was fantastic smooshed between two graham crackers!! The fudge was very good too – I love all things coconut butter!
Lost is getting so good – I hate that our pace will slow so much during the workweek, but I hope we can squeeze in a few episodes this week. I also have a book club book to finish between now and Tuesday and have 50% left. So much entertainment to absorb in so little time!
Blessing @ Working Mom Journal says
You are lost….in Lost! Ha. Enjoy.
Lara says
Oh, that is kind of funny. JUST like an episode that we saw on Friday of Portlandia (on IFC). They started watching Battlestar Galactica episodes and they were stuck on the couch forever. You have to check it out.
And yum on dinner, looks great.
marie says
Battlestar Galactica is equally awesome!! I watched it after LOST ended up and needed good television.
KathEats says
I love the Portlandia videos! Will go hunt it down 😉
KathEats says
Hahhaha that was so us yesterday
Miranda @ Living One Bite at a Time says
Don’t be ashamed… LOST is effing amazing.
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
oh man, i can totally relate to your obsession with Lost… my husband and i were the same way when we were watching the seasons. we just POWERED through them on netflix! i can’t imagine watching them when they were originally on… waiting an entire week to watch the next episode would be torture!!
marie says
That’s like it was like for when it was on tv for 6 years!!
Laura @ Backstage Balance says
Love all of the blogger recipes! I still need to try out Mmm Sauce. Gotta get on that ASAP!
And cookie dough dip just sounds fantastic…
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
If that saying about health decline is true, after this weekend I should be near death. yesterday we didn’t even change out of our pajamas and watched tv all day!
Elizabeth Kelley @ A Dancer In The Kitchen says
My husband and I loved watching LOST, now we are hooked on Fringe and Once Upon A Time!
Stacy @ Say It With Sprinkles says
I never really got in to LOST! I really wanted to, but even after the first couple episodes, I just wasn’t feeling drawn in! Maybe I’ll have to give it another try…
Larbs says
I’ve always wanted to try the Mmm sauce!
Tiffany says
I made mmm sauce this week and it was amazing!! I have been putting it on everything…brown rice, whole wheat pasta, veggies! Its amazing!
Allison says
After my husband and I spent a long weekend watching episode after episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, this skit was on Portlandia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njr3aFpTMyQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Hilarious!
KathEats says
Love it!!!!!!
Elisabeth says
I always say there’s so many books/movies/tv shows and so little time. I’m a media addict and just never have enough time for it all. 🙂
Katie says
Oh, you are in deep with that show. We watched them after they were aired, too – and I probably could have watched them alllll in a row. I didn’t, but I could have. So stinking good.
Cara says
I have 10 episodes left of Lost and cannot WAIT to finish! Might have to call in sick to work tomorrow…. 🙂
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Wow you hit the coconut butter goodies jackpot…and you didn’t even have to cook. I love it when friends come over bearing desserts. Oh wait, that never happens to me 🙂 I’m always the one pawning off but that’ okay…I have quite a stash most days. lol
Kerry @ Totes My Oats says
I swear I’ve been glued to the tv this weekend too… let’s blame it on the weather, shall we? I still need to try mmm sauce, I don’t know what I’ve been waiting for!
Mama Pea says
What a night! I love LOST. I want to watch the whole thing over from the beginning. And I’m glad the Mmmm Sauce grew on you. Kind of like me. You’re kind of “meh” at first, but then eventually you come around. 😉
Janine M says
I’ve been wanting to make the Mmm Sauce so bad! I just wrote down the peanut mmm sauce recipea today, so I plan on making that this week!! Can’t wait to try it 🙂
KathEats says
What!?!??! I loved you from the get-go!
Med School Odyssey says
Don’t worry. As you get closer and closer to the end, it gets a lot easier to stop watching. In fact, once you get to the last season, you think it’s pretty much a waste of time.
kate says
Yep. Even the writers finally admitted that there was never an overall plan for the series. So disappointing.
KathEats says
Sadness
Khushboo says
I love that ‘honeymoon’ period with a new tv show…I can barely tear myself away from the screen!
Lexi @ Cura Personalis Foodie says
I tried watching lost but just couldn’t get hooked. Maybe it’s because I only watched the last season?
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
Dustin and I do the same thing; when we find a show that we love, we’ll watch a marathon of 8 seasons in 3 days, lol. Addictive personalities much? 🙂
Kristen @ Change of Pace says
Love all the blogger food! I am so scared to get sucked into a show like Lost! I can see it easily consuming my life 🙂
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Definitely going to check out all those great blogger recipes! I really want to try cooking with tofu more often…I love it in my Pad Thai.
Hillary says
Honestly, overload is the best way to watch Lost—no long, frustrating breaks in between episodes! It’s how I watched Mad Men, The Wire, and Game of Thrones too!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I was the same way with Lost – my friends and I would stay up until the wee hours of the morning watching it because we just couldn’t tear ourselves away from it! 😀
Hannah @ eat, drink, and save money says
Be careful during the work week… it is tempting to say “just one more”. I make it sound like Lost is a drug!
Sara R. says
Love Lost! And I love peanut mmm sauce too, although sometimes the raw garlic in it is a bit strong for me. Chocolate Covered Katie’s desserts are always fantastic too…I’ve taken that cookie dough dip to family parties before and fed it to my old-school uncles who hate anything “healthy” and they loved it! Yes, I’m that annoying person who sneaks beans into party food and doesn’t tell you 🙂
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Hahaha I know what you mean about watching tv seasons, I do that sometimes with Netflix instant streaming!
Sarah@The Flying ONION says
I love Lost! I watched all the reruns last year and was totally addicted. 😀
Lindsay @ Running the Windy City says
Looks delicious, I’ve never tried MMmm sacuce but I’ve always wanted to! Also, LOST is very addicting, you’ll be surprised by the ways you make time to watch it 🙂
faith says
We watched 3 (or was it 4? or 5?) Lost episodes last night! I was determined not to turn it on until after dark last night but come 6pm, it was on. If Tate and I make it to the last season we may have to all for watch it together!
KathEats says
yay!! I’m so glad you guys are still watching! You need to catch up so we can have a group date again!
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
Hmmm! I neeed to try that tofu! Haha and maybe start watching Lost 🙂
Katie says
What are you reading for book club? After reading One for the Money and a few other lighter reads I’m looking to dive into something a bit more complex. I’ve never seen Lost, the show I would like to watch the whole season in marathon mode is the PBS series Downton Abbey. We haven’t even watched Thursday’s Office yet and I have two weeks of Desperate Housewives to watch! Your dinner looks fabulous.
KathEats says
A Visit From the Goon Squad. Not liking it at all.
Katie says
Hmmm…never heard of it. Sorry you aren’t liking it and feel obligated to finish. One Summer by David Baldacci was a very good quick reading book that I just finished if you need a recommendation.
Kelly says
You’ll love Downton Abbey! I haven’t been this excited about a show for a long time, tough I have to admit, I’m a big fan of anything british! The 2nd season just started.
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
I’ve actually never seen Lost! But I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. That cookie dough dip looks yummy – I’ve been wanting to try it out.
Maria @ Sinfully Nutritious says
Food always tastes better when you are watching something addictive! I am posting my new almond butter “fudge” recipe today…I think you will love it.
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
I think you guys get enough exercise to balance out the couch time 🙂
I’ve been wanting to try out Katie’s cookie dough dip… eating it with graham crackers sounds perfect!
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
It’s fun seeing y’all try other bloggers dishes.
Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon says
I also tried mama pea’s mmmm sauce for the first time last week. In fact, I have leftovers in my fridge…along with a package of tofu…KERF copycat dinner tonight?
Cait's Plate says
I’m so glad you’re loving LOST!! The first three seasons go by in a flash! You can barely stop watching!
Life's a Bowl says
Your lost addiction is like my Modern Family addiction- I just can’t get enough!!! Luckily the weather outside is less than appealing so I don’t feel so bad sitting in front of the TV [and fire] for a few hours 😉
Katie @ OhShineOn says
It sounds like you had a wonderful evening filled with even more wonderful meals. I’ve been meaning to try the baked tofu recipe from Mama Pea but haven’t gotten around to it! And Chocolate Covered Katie just happens to be one of my favorite go-to blogs for healthy desserts. Love this post!
~Christy says
What’s your book club book? I’m in the middle of the second Hunger Games book (Catching Fire?) and am speeding through that. Love the quick reads! 🙂
Angel7 says
I never got into the show, Lost, but I know people who love that show.

maria @ Chasing the Now says
Husband and I are winding down season 6 as I write this and I am going to be so sad for it to be all over. 🙁 Need to find a new awesome series (preferably a long one that has already wrapped so we don’t catch up and have to watch week-to-week).
