WOW, I feel so.much.better.
Guess why?
Matt told me he wanted to go running. I agreed to go, with the caveat that I would probably not be very speedy and our run might turn into a walk. Surprisingly, we had a great run. I had to walk up a few super steep hills, but overall, the run energized me more than anything!
Same with this swingin’ lunch –
What goes better with turkey than cranberry sauce? Pumpkin butter! And sharp cheddar!
Open-faced on toasted high five fiber. Awesomeness.
Plus a side of carrots and an orange
More hot lime water!
I’ve got to shower, and have a few errands to run. And then we’re going to Karen’s for a dinner party tonight! We’ve actually got evening plans for the next 4 nights. Guess that’s pretty exciting!
Kjirsten- Balanced Healthy Life says
Glad you got some energy for a run! Have fun with all your evening plans the next 4 nights! : )
Maddie (Healthy Maddie) says
Glad you are feeling better! Have fun with your evening plans 🙂
Dee says
Ooh, your lunch looks so simple and delish!
Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun says
I’ve done turkey, cran sauce, and a sharp cheese before…but never with the pumpkin butter. Then again, I have yet to try pumpkin butter. It’s a sad thing. I know.
Glad your run felt good! I just found out last night will have to be the last workout of my pregnancy and I’m already missing that workout energy high. 🙁
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
I love it when runs re-energize me like that!
Enjoy the rest of your day 🙂
Michele @ Healthy Cultivations says
You’re so right about giving energy to get energy. I think that applies not just in physical activity but in our mental or emotional lives as well. Sometimes, it’s difficult to get started in something, but a little momentum really really helps.
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
Yep– the days where I MOST don’t have the energy for working out tend to be the ones where I MOST need the workout for energy! Funny, isn’t it? 🙂
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Good for you! Working out is sooo hard to do when you’re tired, but I always find if I can make myself “just do it” that my focus and energy are much improved in the afternoon.
Christin@purplebirdblog says
I really need some Great Harvest bread in my life… every time you have bread it looks so amazingly tempting and delicious!
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says
I love when workouts turn out to be great.
Amanda (Eating Up) says
I LOVE when runs turn out better than I expected. That’s the best…and also a reason to always go out for “just 15 minutes” even when you think it’s not going to go well.
Marina says
I love energising workouts!
Turkey and pumpkin make a great sandwich combo!
Cathy B. @ Bright Bakes says
i had the same problem of a short night! 🙁 hopefully I also hit your stride with a good run, as I have one scheduled for this afternoon!

Love the photos today 🙂
Julie @ Honey B. Nutrition says
So true! I try to tell people this all the time – working out GIVES you energy! Why does no one ever want to listen to me? Now having plans four nights in a row… that would exhaust me. 😉
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Woohoo aren’t you popular!! 😉 Congrats on the run, you sound so energized!! It’s so weird to think that you guys are eating outside when it’s practically blizzarding here in Ontario. Send us some sunshine! 🙂
Gabriella @ Embracement says
they always say you won’t regret a workout! runs always make me feel better. enjoy your night

Kath,
I would love it if you could post about how your eating has changed over the years. I have been an avid reader of yours for a while. Mainly lurker. haha. but its crazy how you went from counting every calorie to what seems like to me just enjoying food in moderation. how did you change your mindset?
Thanks!
Daisy
Kath says
I think it was just a matter of me moving from a weight loss mindset to a maintenance mindset. Learning by example of myself to let go and trust that the things I learned during my weight loss would become automatic. Reading books like Superfoods and Intuitive Eating also had a big impact on the way I eat. I’ve always celebrated food – calorie counting or not – so it was just a gradual release of that tool when I realized I didn’t really need it anymore.
I also wonder if blogging is like therapy!? I think the wonderful acceptance and support of the blogging community is partly to credit. This is such a great place to be to show, tell and learn how fun and enjoyable healthy eating really is.

Would you mind sharing the name of the author of Superfoods and Intuitive Eating? Thanks

I recognize that Bora-Bora mug…!
Franziska (justalittlechocolate) says
There are definately times when I am not in the mood to run but those times can turn into the best runs. I try to convince myself that the times I really don’t feel like exercising are they times my body and mind need it the most 😉

I always go through these phases where I don’t eat cheese, but then I’ll really, really start to miss sharp cheddar! It’s just the best, and I had some last night 🙂

I love the flavour combinations in your sandwich!!!
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
I love pumpkin butter and cheese together!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Haha, the cold weather actually energizes me to move faster if I am forced out into it! My husband asked me to walk with him and then asked me to slow down because I was going to fast. Although his soreness from doing Insanity yesterday did not help!
Amy at TheSceneFromMe says
4 nights of fun ahead for you! Yeah rah!

Hi Kath…
I know you run with a Forerunner 405 and I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts on the Forerunner line – which one is best and which one is of the best value? I want to put one on my Christmas list but have no idea which one to choose – there are so many! Thanks for your input.
Best,
Jessi
Kath says
I have the 305 and it’s the only one I have any experience with. I love it! I THINK the 205 is less and doesn’t have the heart rate monitor feature, which I never use anyways, so I bet you could just get that one.
Melissa @ I Never Imagined says
I love the mug! Such an earthy-colored lunch 🙂
Jamie @ Food in Real Life says
Sharp cheddar is the best! So are runs that start out not so fun and end up being fun! Good stuff all around! 🙂

I love when a good run energizes your day.
I can’t wait for the day that I can eat lunch on a sunny porch. 🙂
Becky says
Wow. Thanks for assuming that we are all stupid. Do you feel better, now?
Marieke says
Hm, I don’t think that swearing and calling names like that was appropriate here; I think you might want to look in the mirror when you call other people that for no reason. This was totally unnecessary and unrelated. Who are you to say what Kath’s public understands or not? Actually, I’m Dutch and I didn’t know the word. So I went to look it up and I learned something new. I must be sooo stupid.
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I finally got my hands on some pumpkin butter (because I got my mom to pick it up on her trip to the states!) and I’ve been loving it in my oats. I’ll have to try it with turkey on a sandwich. Yum!
