We have a gorgeous day here! I am soaking it up because the forecast is rain, rain, rain.
I walked to the coffee shop near my house to meet Victoria for Metabolism studying. We crammed in 2 hours and I enjoyed a delicious cafe au lait made with hazelnut coffee and steamed skim milk. My, I love foam so much.
After studying I decided to take advantage of the weather and go running. I wanted to run tomorrow, but with "heavy rain" as the description, I don’t think there’s a chance of going out in-between drizzles. SO I ran.
6 and a half glorious miles. I ran for pleasure today, not speed, and took my time. I still run about 8:30-8:45 when I’m out for fun, but only on the flat parts. Give me a hill and I’m much, much slower when I don’t care about pace. And there were a lot of hills!
Once home I had planned on a Yoga Download, but Josh Groban’s "You Raise Me Up" was on my iPod and it was the perfect cool down song, so I listened to it on repeat 3 times while I did the usual vinyasa flows and sun salutations, warriors, eagles, ending with pigeons and a little solo savasana. I always feel kind of funny doing free-flow yoga, but I’m not bad at it! I’ve done enough classes and Yoga Downloads to know the general …flow…of things
After yoga I showered and came down for lunch at 2:00! I can’t believe I wasn’t hungrier but whenever I have coffee mid-morning I’m less hungry for lunch.
I made a Sweet Potato, Goat Cheese + Turkey Salad
I cut up a sweet potato and microwaved it for 6 minutes until fork tender. This method does dry it out a bit, but it certainly does the trick quickly and efficiently. I wonder if putting a wet paper towel over them would help with the dryness? I saved about 1/3 of the potato for another lunch –
Served on a bed of green leaf lettuce dressed in olive oil, agave and salt plus goat cheese, green pepper, and a torn slice of Applegate Farm’s Roasted Turkey.
Plus a leftover Great Harvest honey wheat roll with raspberry jam

Foam makes everything better!
Estela @ weekly bite says
The coffee picture made we want one immediately!!!
Have a great rest of the day! Good luck studying! 🙂
Rebecca says
Delicious looking salad! I love goat cheese on anything. Do you mix the olive oil, agave & salt together as a dressing? Could you use honey instead?
JENNA says
YUM X 100000 to cafe au lait! 🙂
Runeatrepeat says
I often put a small glass of water in the micro with foods that dry out. Just be careful when you take it out – it’s gets super hot!
brandi says
what a great salad! Glad you got your run in – I was thinking of trying to get one in today too. Our weather doesn’t look that great for the rest of the week here, either.
christie, honoring health says
free flowing yoga is a little weird at first but I am almost at the point where i prefer it. I start yoga teacher training THIS WEEK so I have to embrace doing yoga on my own since it is a daily requirement for the year of the training!
Erin says
Goat cheese!
Love that little baby roll too. 😉
Food Makes Fun Fuel says
I love goat cheese and sweet potato. I can’t imagine what they taste like together
K says
It’s chilly in MI so your cafe au lait looks really comforting right now! Hope the rest of your day goes well 🙂
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says
Salad looks delish!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says

Gives me chills every single time!
Sarah @ The Foodie Diaries says
That salad looks perfect!!
When I micro my SP, I put a littttle water at the bottom of the bowl and pour out any excess that doesn’t absorb. Hope that helps 🙂
Beth says
I’m loving the Nerd Kerf gmail videos. I just started using gmail recently and am finding these very helpful. I’m also excited about Kerf Budgeting – that is definitely something I need to get better at. Another suggestion – Kerf Meal Planning. I’m just starting Meal Planning and trying to find the way that works best for me….would love to see how you do it!
Hallie (Healthy Twists) says
I can’t wait until I have time to go back and look at those Gmail tutorials because I could use some organization in my life! And I am really looking forward to the budget stuff because honestly, I just don’t get how to do it and I am SO sick of always worrying if I’m going to run out of money before my next paycheck because I don’t know how to plan things…like my monthly bills, ok, but what about things that come up every 6 weeks, or once every 3 months, etc? How do I budget for that?
Jenn (www. j3nn.net ) says
Very Autumn-y salad, looks delish! 🙂
Jenn

I have to say that I am LOVING the nerd Kerf videos. So helpful!
Sarah Jayne says
What a zen filled day you’ve had so far!
I LOVE foam. Pretty much only order cappuccinos for the heavenly fluff. Even better with sprinkling if cinnamon swirled through. Mmmmmm.
Kristie Lynn says
I actually really don’t like foam on things – I get sad when I order a latte and it has foam on it when it’s not supposed to! I know I’m in the minority though 🙂
Paige(Running Around Normal) says
I love going out for runs and not worrying about speed! Makes it much more enjoyable and in the moment.
That sweet potatoe salad looks delicious!
Diana says
that salad looks good 🙂
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
That foamy coffee looks SO good! I totally agree that I love my foam. 🙂
Sounds like a fabulous run, and what a great way to end your workout with your own yoga poses. I’m always amazed at how much Yoga Downloads has taught me!
Spotty Prep says
For our wedding, my mom, my brothers and his parents walked up the aisle to an instrumental version of You Raise Me Up. That was one of my favorite details 🙂
Jenna says
salad looks great especially with the great harvest roll!
jenna
Daria @ Daria Can Cook says
Beautiful salad! I’m so glad that sweet potato season is here. 🙂 I’m currently roasting a pumpkin and a turnip in my oven for tonight’s dinner project. I can’t wait!
Erin says
It’s amazing how much coffee can fill you up, especially a latte. I think it’s a mix of caffeine and milk. Sometimes when I have a latte in the morning, I have to make myself to eat something mid-afternoon even if I’m not hungry.
Wendy says
I must say I am very jealous of your sunshine! We haven’t seen any here in Missouri for several days, and all that’s in the forecast is rain & clouds. Ick.
I always enjoy the slower don’t-care-about pace runs. I think that’s why I enjoyed the long runs when I trained for my half-marathons.
Look forward to the KERF Budgeting video – I really need some help there, and I second the vote for a Meal Planning tutorial!
sue says
now i’ve gotta try sweet potato in a salad…looks great!
Andee (Runtolive) says
Never thought of putting sweet potato on a salad, great idea. Thanks for all the Gmail tutorials, I had no idea gmail could do so much!
ellen eats beets says
lady that lady looks lovely!! The people here on campus do not not how to make KERF approved salads… It’s tres sad 🙁
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
I love crazy flee flow yoga. I try to do the poses when TV shows I want to watch are on. I can’t download more yoga so I like to do yoga. Especially my running yoga poses.
I love the foam on coffee too. It’s a yummy addition I don’t make at home.
I can’t wait to see your video later when I have time. I love all the new things I’m learning to do with your tips 🙂
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
sweet potato on salads is my fave. thanks again for doing our blog interview (and linking too)
rachel says
thanks for all the gmail tips!! can you do a video on google reader too?
Jenn Eats Nutritiously Now says
I’d love a video on Windows Live Writer 🙂
Danica says
The foam is my favorite part of a latte too, but, I really LOVE it when you drizzle caramel on top – it makes it like a marshmallow ~ MMMMM!
LOVE the fast, creative salad. Good luck with all the studying.
P.S. Your leisure pace is still fast, fast 🙂
Hillary says
What perfect-looking foam – it’s my favorite too : )
I wish you were around to tutor me in metabolism. I have a microbiology exam Friday. Lots of studying to do…
Take care!
angieinatlanta says
The foam on the top of your coffee looks like perfection! Love it!
Tricia says
wet paper towels help with the sweet potatoes and I am glad I am not the only one that eats the skin. I’ve also soaked raisins in apple juice before than cut the sweet potato up a bit and cooked it all in the same bowl together. (V good)
love foam too.. that coffee looks great!
Nicole says
That salad looks great….I bet the sweet potato was a little crouton-y when it dried out!
Meghan@traveleatlove says
I soooo wish I worked at home so I could more easily make yummy lunches like that!
Emily (Emily Eats and Exercises) says
I often microwave my sweet potato to save time. I actually just stick a few slits in it and microwave it whole. I cut it up afterwards. I think that might help make it less dry.
Stacey says
Haha. Your lunch almost matches mine exactly 🙂 It was a beautiful day here in Charlotte! I took Cookie (boss’ dog) out for a very long walk around Freedom Park (love their weeping willows) The fresh air was great, after today I can’t believe it’s gonna be in the 50’s for the rest of the week, brrrrrrr
Kath says
Rebecca,
I just drizzle them right onto the lettuce.
Therese,
Loved the video!
Beth,
I’m really not that good with meal planning! There’s nothing to it other than finding recipes. I don’t really have an organized way of doing it. You’ll see in the Calendar video how I put my meals in, but that’s all there is to it.
rachel,
But then everyone would use it and I’d lose pageviews!! I try to keep it a secret 😉
Jenn,
WLW video coming!!
Tricia,
Apple juice + raisins sounds amazing! I never have AJ on hand though.
Kath
maria says

Oh my gosh! I am stoked for the KERF budget system! I’m doing better now than I was but I can’t wait to get some more ideas 🙂
Alison says
I’m also intrigued by the upcoming KERF budget system. We’ve been trying to budget, but I’ve yet to find a system I like. I’ve been watching the Nerd KERF series and loving it! Thanks for all of your work on these!
Allison (Eat Clean Live Green) says
I had no idea you could get rid of the ads/web clips! Thanks Kath!
I really should spend more time searching through the settings/labs 🙂
