I did a whole lotta nothin’ today – not a lick of exercise. Somehow (or perhaps not so surprisingly since exercise energizes), I’m still tired! Hoping for a great night’s sleep and fresh start tomorrow!
Afternoon cheese plate..
Followed by date night at Blue Mountain Brewery! I had a craving for the countryside – and for their pizza!
One of our favorite places to take out of towners because it requires a gorgeous drive into the Virginia countryside. When you arrive in Nelson County, you’re surrounded by dramatic mountains (and beer!)
Also, my favorite pizza in all of Cville!
They have expanded this year and it was absolutely PACKED at 6pm!
We were told a 35 minute wait and 45 minutes for food, but we ended up just eating at the tiki bar and our pizza came out very quickly! Thankfully the temps were such that we could sit outside and not drip with sweat. Thank goodness!
Fun to see non-beer options other than water and Coke on the menu
I enjoyed a local Bucha – ginger flavor. It was good, but I’m not a big ginger person so I would have enjoyed another flavor more, I think.
Matt enjoyed two malty brews. Can’t wait to taste the new beers that have come out this year when the time is right!
We each ordered a side Caesar salad
And then polished off about 3/4 of this amazing local Double H farm sausage, pepper and mushroom pizza.
Every bite – down to the 50% whole wheat herby crust – was simply amazing. Perfect, perfect pizza.
Best pizza of the year! (Sorry Matt)
(And what is it about rectangular pizzas that is so good!?)
Because of an early start, we were done with dinner by 7pm and took the scenic route home. A gorgeous Saturday night. I’m glad we’re home early – more time for evening entertainment!

Love the shot of the stretchy cheese on that ‘za!

Your first beer will be soooo good! 😉 & more restaurants should definitely serve non-alcoholic drinks other than Coke! Glad you found something.

Looks like fun! Kath, you look absolutely glowingly beautiful in that pic! Happy Weekending!

That pizza looks insane! Your top is very cute, love that color 🙂 I’ve noticed some places offer a nice selection of fruity type mocktails, but it seems like they’re always just as expensive as the regular cocktails!
Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs says
That pizza looks sooo good! Too bad you couldn’t have a beer to wash it down… Soon enough I suppose! 🙂

Best pizza of the year! Holy cow! ……It really does look FANTASTIC!!
I hear you on feeling tired all day- with no exercise. I wrote thank you cards all.day.long as well as put away baby gear from the shower. It really poo’ed me out, really. ….Glad tomorrow is a new day!

Caesar salad and pizza has to be one of my favorite meals. I like eating each bite of pizza with some salad on top. Call me crazy, but it’s unbeatable!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
that pizza looks STELLAR!
but so do the Triscuits and cheese, which I made many meals of in my life….or with PB. Love Triscuits!

Hey Kath! I thought it was FINALLY time to comment on your blog. I have been reading every single post for months now; you have even inspired me to start blogging. I have been dying to go by the bakery for awhile now, to maybe see you and taste the bread :). Ironically though, on a lazy afternoon myself, I thought about suggesting to my parents that we go to Blue Mountain tonight, as we live in the region. Now seeing this post I am kicking myself!! Just wanted to let you know I love your blog and your recipes! [ps. I recently tried Matt’s Oats n’ Seeds bread and it was delicious!]

bummer I missed you!! thanks for reading 🙂

You look amazing, and that glow!! Sounds like a fun time was had, and the pizza is beautiful! Nothing better then a homemade artisan pizza.

You look absolutely amazing in the shirt (or possibly dress…thought I’m betting shirt…) pictured! The color and shape are FABULOUS on you. Assuming it’s maternity, please go hunt out a non maternity shirt just like this after baby Baker is born!!! SUPER flattering on you.

We visited BMB last summer, such a beautiful area! Hope you are feeling well. Happy Saturday!

You look AMAZing! Love thd pizza. Question: do you count the costs of eating out or picking up food on the go (like WF salads) as part of your food budget??
KathEats says
no they go under our entertainment budget

We love Blue Mountain as well! The Barefoot Bucha they have is now on tap at our Whole Foods here in Richmond and they have some other flavors including Elderflower and Plum. It’s amazing!

That pizza looks like it as a perfect crust to toppings ratio!
Lee says
That’s awesome that the restaurant serves Kombucha!
Kristen says
That pizza looks amazing. I LOVE thin crust pizza and we just don’t have enough local pizza places that make it that way! I think it’s time to whip up some of my own. Sometimes I make mini “thin crust” pizzas using wheat tortillas. The crispier the better!
Thanks for the inspiration.

That pizza looks fantastic! In fact, I think we’ll make one tonight! Totally wish I could go BUY a pizza that amazing, but at least making it will be a fun project 🙂
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
The pizza looks delicious! Hope you got some rest last night.

Rectangular pizzas ARE always better! Weird! 😛 Also, love that colour on you!

Rectangular pizzas just have more character, I think 🙂

Gorgeous views!
I am not a big ginger fan either — other than ginger ale — but I like Kombucha. If Ginger Kombucha were the only non-pop item on the menu other than water, I would drink it.

Whoa, that crust looks AMAZING…well, the whole pizza, but the crust especially O.o

OMG that food looks delish! Especially that ceaser salad. I haven’t been ordering Ceaser’s since I’ve been pregnant b/c I thought we couldn’t have them if they were made with raw egg? Do you just ask the waiter before you order what it’s made of?
KathEats says
Only really fancy restaurants make their caesar dressing from scratch (usually).
Jennifer says
Well I know what I am having for dinner this week now! 🙂

Your non-alcoholic ginger kombucha looks very refreshing! That’s a great idea to get a fancy drink but order it non-alcoholic. I hope you enjoyed it!

LOVE Blue Mountain Brewery– the location, the food, the beer, the kombucha… great place to let the little ones run around in the grass, and we have a special fondness for one of the owners, Matt, who used to work with us at Rebecca’s 🙂 Thanks for the post and lovely pictures… now I’m HUNGRY!!!
