A good morning to you all. I’m taking a long time to get going, alternating between sleepiness and freezing coldness. I’m currently wrapped in a blanket! Didn’t sleep well, again. I think my days of hard sleep are over. [Probably for ever.]
I started the day with a quick bowl of greek yogurt topped with blueberries, honey cluster cereal, chia seeds, Raspberry Chambord jam (one of my favorites ever tasted) and Sunbutter.
It was good – I want more!
Plus blueberry white tea
Might need a new cup to warm me up again!
I have two appointments scheduled for today: one is really fun and one is potentially horrible. Depending on how it goes! Let’s hope for the best!
Stephanie @ Legally Blinde says
What a colorful bowl of ingredients, I love it. Good luck with your appointments, hope the one isn’t horrible!
Jessica / Green Skies and Sugar Trips says
Awww sleep will return eventually (worst case scenario is 18 years) 😉
Hope the potentially horrible isn’t so horrible!! xoxoxo
Allie@LiveLaughEat says
A blanket of SSB makes everything better. Hopefully BERF agrees. You’re scaring me about the whole sleep thing!
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
Would it be inappropriate to walk around in one of those adult footed pajama set ups? Perhaps a Snuggie? 😉
Hope both appts are awesome with no potential horror on the horizon.
KathEats says
I have always wanted a Snuggie..
Jessica says
I have one and IMO, it isn’t very warm because of the light material it is made of. They are overrated.
chelsea says
Aw, I love my snuggie! Do you have an authentic one? LOL there are alot of knock offs. I love mine!
chelcie @ chelcie's food files says
your breakfast looks delicious!!
Blessing {Working Mom Journal} says
Potentially horrible? Oh no! All the best!
Kinley @ Better Off Barefoot says
Your appointments don’t sound good! Hope all is well!!
Alison says
Kath, I’m still sleeping like a rock at 39 weeks 2 days…you might get back into the swing of things. I’ll hope so for your sake! 🙂
KhushbOo says
Your breakfast is the ultimate summer breakfast- bring on June!
kristen @ verbs and vignettes says
oh my, I second that! crazy what a few berries do to my wishes for summer.
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Definitely hoping for the best for you today! Good luck!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
That funny you have chambord jam… when she was prego with me my mom used to pour Chambord over ice cream. This probably explains a lot. LOL!
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
How funny~kind of a coinkidink 😛 Perhaps it has baby friendly ingredients, hehe.
And I hope your sleeping goes back to normal Kath! I’m sure it will~at least eventually.
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
That breakfast looks SO GOOD. You are making me wish I could eat cereal!!! And I hope BOTH your appointments go well and there is no horribleness!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Cereal allllllways leaves me wanting to go back for more! And good luck with those appointments – I hope the potentially nasty one turns out to be delightful! 🙂
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
Your breakfast looks yummy! That bowl is so cute. 🙂 I love having cereal for breakfast!
Good luck with your appointments. I hope they both go well.
Cait's Plate says
Fingers crossed for you that both appointments work out well!
PS – You days of hard sleep aren’t over forever, one your kid is off to college, you’re GOLDEN! Hahah. So only…19 or so more years to go! 😉
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
Maybe the baby wants more yogurt-cereal bowl, too? 🙂
Yikes on the “potentially horrible” — that sounds ominous.
I had similar sleep issues at this point last year (4 1/2 months pregnant), but now I look back on those days and think how incredibly well-rested I was — it’s all relative!
Sam says
This! I look back on my pregnancy last year and marvel at how well-rested I was (and I wasn’t sleeping that well).
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Keep your chin up!! It’s all worth it!
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
oh no! hoping for the best in the potentially horrible appointment…
breakfast looks delicious as always!
donna says
Cait’s Plate, enjoy your sleep now. Once you go through menopause, you will have the WORST insomnia/hot flashes/night sweats/and a host of unmentionable (on here) side effects ever!
This is the worst stage of my life. Whenever I do finally go to sleep, I sleep so lightly that I wake up to every little noise—even with a sound machine on loudly next to my bed!
This is what I get for years of staying up worrying about/tending to my kids? Not fair!
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Will be thinking of you today! Hope all is well!
Kathryn says
Kath, I’m a mommy of a toddler and I’m pregnant again, and I feel your pain on the sleep thing. My toddler is finally sleeping well through the night, and now I’M not! They say the hormones play havoc with your sleep, etc. Try to take as many naps as possible!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
It’s so hard to dress in Pittsburgh these days – it was 20 degrees when I woke up but will be almost 60 when I leave work!
Maria@ Sinfully Nutritious says
Your body is preparing for the lack of sleep that comes with motherhood, believe me! 🙂
Marci says
I hate when people say you’re getting prepared for lack of sleep, blah blah. I slept great until the mid 30s weeks of pregnancy, and then had some major problems with waking and not being able to fall back asleep. My doctor said Tylenol PM is absolutely safe. I’ve taken it a few times and it is so helpful. Might as well take it and sleep since you can’t when you’re getting up every 3 hours or more. Just passing along!
KathEats says
I used to take Tylenol PM if I was having trouble sleeping a few nights in a row pre-pregnancy and LOVED it. Good to know it’s safe. I think there are some called Just Sleep out there too. – I will ask my doctor about both
Johanna B says
My daughter is 24 and I get great sleep these days. So have no fear – you will sleep again.
katie @KatieDid says
hahaha loved this! My mom (of 4 kids) is justttt about getting good sleep 26 years later now too 😉
~Christy @ wonderofallthings says
End of hard sleep??!? Sounds rough…hope it returns to you! Stay warm and good luck with the appts! 🙂
Kelly @ Vegolosophy says

Jacqueline@digintobooks says
Looks like a great breakfast to start off your day of appointments! Hope they all go well!!
Leatitia @ The Sweetest Year says
My last night of sound sleep happened before I got pregnant in October 2010. As soon as I got pregnant, I would wake up in the middle of the night, not being able to go back to sleep for an hour or two. It was horrible. My mind was racing and I couldn’t make it stop.
Once the baby was born, I woke every 2 hours around the clock to feed him. At about 5 months of age, he started giving me 3-4 hours of sleep before waking up for a feeding. Now at 8 months old, he wakes up 2 times during the night to feed. The most continuous sleep I got since 2 years now is 6 hours.
I used to be one of those people that needed their 8 hours of sleep otherwise I’d feel really horrible during the day. I can’t believe I manage to go on with my days with so little sleep. The body is an incredible machine. I can not wait for full nights of sleep again!
Caroline says
YUMMMMM that breakfast looks to die for! I need to make this ASAP! 🙂 I actually haven’t been sleeping very well lately either..I miss the days I could go to bed at 8:45 and wake up completely refreashed. Hopefully I can get back on my old sleep schedule!
Hilliary @Happily Ever Healthy says
Such a colorful breakfast! Good luck at your appointments! I hope both of them go well!
Paulina (One Smile Ahead) says
I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast today too! I never thought of adding jam to it though. Gotta try it! Good luck with the appointments! :] I hope everything will go well.
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
I think my days of hard sleep are over. [Probably for ever.] <—
Yes I would say they are. I never, ever sleep with the depth and fullness as a mom that I did beforehand. I sleep with one ear open, so to speak. I think it's just hard-wired for moms to always be able to pop up if we need to!
Paige @ Healthy Hits the Spot says
Good luck with your appointments! Breakfast looks yummy once again!
Catie says
Hi Kath! I’m a new reader, and I look forward to your posts everyday! Love your breakfast ideas… they look so yummy, healthy, and filling every single day! Is there a particular reason you prefer sunflower seed butter over other nut butters? I’m just curious… I’ll have to try it! 🙂
KathEats says
Welcome Catie! I just loooove the taste of the sunbutter – slightly sweet and super thick and sticky.
Laura says
Hi Kath,
Invest in a Snoogle! I started using one at 25 weeks pregnant and once I had it, I wished that I had gotten one sooner. It really helped me sleep much more comfortably and took away the anxiety of rolling onto my back (which I am prone to do) since it kept me easily comfortable to sleep on my left-hand side (which is best while pregnant).
I actually just had our baby girl yesterday at 36 weeks (she’s doing unbelievably well) and I slept a solid four hours last night–still with my Snoogle–and today I feel great.
KathEats says
I have one!!
KathEats says
And CONGRATS on the bebe!
Natalia says
Just had to ask because I know you’re a fan of the original, but have you heard?!

KathEats says
Ooooo!
Katie says
Long time reader, first time commenter. I am 25 weeks along. I had horrible tossing and turning up until about 16 weeks and now I sleep like a log. I am sure the insomnia is caused by a combination of the angst of becoming a mom, hormones, and having to pee constantly!!! I hope it improves for you like it did for me. Basically 16 weeks was when I felt like a new person–back to regular energy, sleeping well, feeling good, eating (and liking) vegetables, etc.
KathEats says
Thanks for your comment!
I’m hoping to turn that second tri corner soooon
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Oh that bowl looks OHHHH sooo good! Have FUN at hopefully both appts 😉
