Pretty pottery! The bowl on the left I bought at a street vendor in Asheville, NC and the mug on the right is one of our Great Harvest mugs from a Fredericksburg potter.
Whipped banana oats with raisins inside and trail mix and sunbutter on top!
And coffeecoffeecoffee. Decaf gets me just as excited as the real deal!
M and I stayed in our jammies for a long time today. It was just one of those sleepy mornings, and I enjoyed living in the moment so much.
We went out exercising/napping after that and then came back to nurse on the couch. I can’t tell you how hard it is to be post-exercise past lunchtime breastfeeding and watching commercials of FOOD on TV. So hungry!!!
This gorgeous sandwich filled every inch of my soul. Turkey + brie with pumpkin butter on whole wheat Cranberry Orange, all toasted up warm and……toasty!
Carrots + pepper with hummus on the side. I’m all out of greens! I generally like to eat one big salad a day, and that’s often for lunch. But sometimes I like being out of lettuce because lunches like this are fun too.
This afternoon we napped/worked and then walked downtown with Matt to get back-to-back haircuts. We both needed them and we played pass the baby. I can tell you that my hair hadn’t been cut in at least 12 weeks, so my ends are very happy to be trimmed. Growing it out long again overall though!
I was reallllly hungry during my appointment (left in such a hurry I didn’t have time for a snack) and when the boys were out strolling they picked up a gingerbread cookie from Paradox for us to share!!
Then we had a quick meeting before I had to run home for a video meeting with the Real Health team as part of the Shorty Awards we are partnering with. Mazen’s first video conference!
Then in a fun, festive Friday fashion, we were invited to dinner with our friends Sarah, John and Slyvia!
I missed a photo of cute Sylvia, but Maze enjoyed meeting another boy who was also there for the evening while his parents were out. John and Matt were on baby patrol most of the evening, and it was so sweet to watch them!
Sarah is such a great hostess! She prepared four courses, restaurant-style!
We started with chips + guacamole to snack on while she prepared the appetizers
An amuse bouche of halloumi cheese with tomatoes and spinach in a vinaigrette
Followed by seared ahi tuna in a spicy mayo
And then the main course
Fish tacos with rice, beans, and guacamole
Sleepy head!
To end, tastes of Whole Foods cupcakes – raspberry and caramel.
Thanks so much for the invitation Sarah and John!

Aww I think there’s a little bromance forming between Mazen and his new friend! 😉 That cranberry orange bread on your sandwich sounds divine, and so does the dinner you guys enjoyed. I love holiday festivities!
Molly @ RDexposed says
Lunches with brie can never go wrong! I need more brie in my life.
Heather says
Glad I’m not the only one that gets just as excited for decaf…although I do sneak a little regular in on occasion. 😉
Kate says
I like decaf just as much as regular too! To me, it’s about the flavor of the coffee, and the feeling of comfort I get from drinking it. Unless it’s near bedtime, I don’t even notice the caffeine, so I wouldn’t be able to tell which was which!
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
I LOVE the pottery you had your breakfast in! Just beautiful!
Jenny @ For Your Consideration says
Love Mazen’s little bear onesie!
Also, I aspire to host dinners like your friend, Sarah. Gorgeous presentation. If only I could be less lazy! 🙂
Stefanie @ Thin Vegetarian says
Wow that cookie is HUGE! I don’t think I have ever seen one that size!
Lindsey @ Pas de Deux says
Wow! What a dinner! Sarah really could rival many a restaurant with her lovely plating and creative dishes!
Becca says
Amazing dinner menu! The presentation is stellar.
Maeve says
Oh my gosh, what a beautiful dinner party! I am blown away by the care and thought that must have gone into conceptualizing the menu, shopping for the ingredients, preparing the courses and taking so much care in plating and presentation. As you said, what a great hostess! I am just wondering…how did everything taste?!?! I can only imagine that it was all SPECTACULAR given the thought and time that went into it!!!! Thanks for the inspiration, Sarah!

Delicious! Healthy too
Rachel says
Agreed! It looks amazing, and it must have involved a ton of work.
Maybe I’ll do that for my parents over the holidays instead of taking them out 🙂
Christine @ BookishlyB says
I can honestly say I’ve never had a sandwich fill “every inch of my soul.” Apparently my egg salad and PBJ need to step up their game 😉
JoJo says
Oh my gosh the dinner presentation is amazing!
It’s neat that you can work with your baby and do video conference, etc!

What kind of or what brand of turkey do you use in your sandwiches? I love deli meat but now I’m afraid to eat it as much because of all the scary ingredients it can be in it.
KathEats says
Applegate Farms Organic – I really liked the herbed one
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
halloumi cheese with tomatoes and spinach in a vinaigrette = that is a dream appetizer! Gorgeous, perfect flavors, wow, I want that for my main course 🙂
What a great night!
And cute stocking/gingerbread cookie!
Ana says
Will you be selling those mugs on your great harvest online store? It is so pretty!!
And the bowl is beautiful too! I love mugs, have so many of them, and I always like see the different ones you have. Your breakfast pictures are always my favorite as I am an oatmeal gal too!
Ana
KathEats says
Probably not because they are expensive ($18) and the shipping is high too, but if anyone wanted one specifically we could definitely coordinate it
Tiffany says
Hi Kath,
I recently bough Justin’s vanilla almond butter only to find that 2T has 7 grams of sugar. Usually flavored nut butters have 2-3grams at most. From an RD’s perspective what do you think? I only eat 1T with oatmeal but do you think its more of a treat or a health food (or maybe it is somewhere in between?) Thanks!
KathEats says
It’s definitely on the high end of the spectrum, but you’re right that with 1T it’s really not all that much.
Jodie says
Curious to know how u felt training after baby & running again?
KathEats says
It’s going well! I wrote a post about the first part here.

“I enjoyed living in the moment so much.”
I love this quote! I felt the same today. I baked cream cheese brownies while listening to Christmas music, sipping chai tea and walking around in my comfy clothes and fuzzy socks. There was no rush, no hurry. It was delicious. 😀
Amy @ Eat Workout Succeed says
Wow – is your friend a professional chef? That food looks so amazing! Do you always drink decaf? I’m switching to Decaf pronto – too many heart palpitations – yuck!
KathEats says
No a chef, just a foodie who loves to entertain!
Lynn @ the actor's diet says
I’d kill for a cupcake right about now. Or a whole foods.
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Are there goji berries in that trail mix on your oatmeal? YUM!
KathEats says
Yup!
