Thomas and I finished Game of Thrones and Stranger Things (can’t wait for the next season of either!). When we were debating what to watch next, he kept bringing up Westworld. I thought it was a political show (I think I was confusing it with The West Wing!) and wasn’t at all excited. But then I agreed to give the first episode a try, and wow, is it good! It’s kind of like a blend of The Truman Show, The Matrix, and a wild western. You have to give it a try!

They sent me some of my favorites – Vega, Health Warrior Bars (my favorite pre-packaged bars!), and that Deep Steep Bubble Bath that I can only get online now after falling in love with it in Whole Foods. It’s my favorite way to send Mazen to bed – smelling like passion fruit! I’ve also been using Derma-E’s exfoliator on my face a few times a week and really like it. They threw in a few new-to-me products as well – I’m really excited to try the Rose-scented face scrub and the Avalon Thickening Shampoo!

I bought a Hydroflask water bottle after trying Thomas’s (he is full of good recommendations!). I really needed something that would keep water cold during hot soccer games. These bottles are not cheap, but they really keep water cold. I love the straw lid. Disclaimer: the bottle I got (here) came with a lid and straw that SUCKED (haha!). But for real, it was full of bubbles, and I couldn’t figure out how to fix it. It came from the Hydroflask store, but the lid was off brand. I ended up ordering the proper branded lid, and it’s so much better.

Loving my Wildling shirt from Indy Rose Co!! So comfy. Mazen saw a copy of Where The Wild Things Are recently and said, “There’s that book about wildlings!” Ha!

I am the best/worst at getting sucked into the sponsored ads on Instagram and Facebook. They are good at their jobs because they always target me with things that I really do need/want. Like these flats, which promised no blisters and were so cute!

I got the size 8, which is my true size and initially, they felt a little big. But after wearing them around my house for an hour they felt fine. They really are SO comfortable. The fabric feels like a stretchy mesh. They are machine washable too! I love them so much! And, the pink soles!!!

KERF reader Jessi (@unstoppablelips) emailed me about trying Lipsense. I had seen a few people mention it on social and am always willing to try something new! She sent me the color Bombshell and the gloss to go with it. Bombshell is very neutral (great if you want your lips to look alive but not like you’re wearing lipstick) and to test it further, I bought a second color from her – Praline Rose – which was a bit darker. To apply, you do three very light coats, allowing it to dry in between, and end with the gloss.

Here’s my awkward selfie attempting to showcase the color without smiling too much. Lol. And here are my thoughts:

Pros: It works!! That is by far the biggest pro. As promised, it stays on for hours and hours. And there are SO many colors.

Cons: It’s a bit time consuming to apply (2 minutes versus 2 seconds for classic lip stuff), has somewhat of a stingy feel and chemical taste, and is not cheap (~$26 per color).

And finally, I’ve been loving the new kale salads from Whole Foods. Anything to move beyond mixed greens! The Sweet Kale Chopped Salad is my favorite (including the poppyseed dressing it comes with!).

I found this one too, which doesn’t come with toppings or dressing, but was excellent with some Caesar dressing and gorgonzola cheese!

Siggi’s sent me some of their new Triple Cream yogurts – delish. Still only 9 grams of sugar, but so creamy from 3x the cream.

    Lipsense sounds intriguing! I wear a coral lip. And thanks for the heads up in the straw tip for the hydro flask, the spin off top is such a pain!

    I am not a huge lipstick fan, but I do like the occasional coral! That deep steep bubble bath sounds like a dream! And I truly do love those flats! I always get some bad blisters, so with that no blister guarantee those sound perfect, can’t wait to look into them!

      Well reviews are part of my job, so I didn’t buy anything I reviewed here. I often share extras from reviews or send brand new things to donate that hopefully someone else really needs. I got rid of 3 old cheap waterbottles and traded them for one high quality one that I did purchase. Same with shoes – I tossed two pairs of Toms that had holes in the soles, and one pair of cheap flats that gave me horrible blisters, in favor of one high quality pair that I hope I love. I’m focusing on having one or two really great things instead of 6 mediocre ones.

    I have heard of lipsense and was curious about it. I am normally a neutral or a rose colored lip person. I have some of the deep steep bubble bath and love it.

    I would love a darker pink with plum hues if they have any! I’ve heard great things about Lip Sense too but the cost has kept me from trying it.

    I have also been wanting to try lip sense but the cost has stopped me. I’d love to try it for free! Since I don’t normally wear lip anything I would definitely go with a pink.

    Those flats look so comfy and I love that they’re machine washable! I hate when shoes aren’t really worn out, but are just kind of gross. I’m going to check those out.

    Derma-E also makes a really great night cream. I got a sample from Birchbox a couple of months ago, and absolutely love it. Glad to hear some of their other products are great too!

    I don’t wear lipstick often since it always comes off for me but when I do, I wear coral colors, so a pink would be awesome!

    I am a coral girl! I would love to try this product, since I have tried so many wear-for-hours lip products with no true successes. And I love some color on my lips, especially in the spring! Looks great on you Kath!

    i’m dying to try the new siggi’s!! and HOW good is stranger things?!?! i love westworld too, it’s not like anything else i’ve ever seen honestly and it sucks you in! also, i too am a sucker for those instagram ads – i always like them thinking they’re a friend’s post and then realize that it’s an ad! they’re algorithm must be pretty solid though, it’s always stuff i think is super cute and would totally buy…haha

    I don’t wear lipstick often, I’d like to though. My problem is not knowing how to pick the right colors and if they match my skin tone or outfit. I often steer toward lighter shades of pink. Love those flats, super cute.

    I love Rothy’s shoes! I have two pair. Another great and interesting thing about them is that they are made from recycled water bottles and are machine washable!

    Lipstick/stain/color is my favorite make-up item! I am totally at lost with any type of eye shadow, but give me lipstick- neutral, dark, coral, red, plum- and i’m happy! I really love trying all shades, but if i had to pick just one, i’d say i’m a plum girl!

    I would love to try Lipsense, but the cost has kept me from it. I don’t really wear lipstick so not sure if the money would be worth it for me personally. Something neutral would be my pick! Maybe a light pink?

    Happy Friday! What a long week.
    I’m obsessed with my hydro flasks. Between my husband and I we have 5 of them. I’m amazed how well they work. I also love that they don’t sweat. We first saw them in Hawaii, they were all the rage. We ended up buying them when we got home. Since then I have given them as gifts and got 3 people in my office turned on to them.
    The Kale salad that you like is also sold at Costco by me, if you belong to Costco you should check it out

    I love a bold lip, and will often wear red (NARS Cruella) or bright pink/magenta (NARS Audacious in Janet). Otherwise, I just go nude, but I recently tried Beauty Counter’s balm in Currant and I love that too!

    Lipsense has been blowing up my FB lately. It looks so interesting, but I can’t bring myself to pay the $60 for the starter kit. The colors look great on you! I’m normally a pink or rose girl myself. I was telling a friend of mine who was complaining about the space her daughters school stuff takes about you. She really LOVED the photo idea!

    I’ve been wanting to try LipSense for a while now. I normally wear some sort of nude lip color with a little pink to it. Bombshell, First Love, and Apple Cider all look really pretty.

    Another amazing show to check out is Big Little Lies on HBO. The four main characters are played by Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley. It is phenomenal! I think there are only 10 episodes. It’s based on a book, which I haven’t yet read, but heard it’s good as well. Love all the favorite things you listed – and I am going to check out those flats! They look seriously comfy!

    I love lipsense!! I was surprised, because I’m very much a Lip Smackers type o’ gal. But I’ve tried the two colors you have, plus dark pink and gold champagne. I love dark pink! Only like the gold champagne if I’m layering it with something else. I love Bombshell, but would like to try Apple Cider.

      My lipsticks are all over the place – many came as Birchbox samples. I really like Mary Kay Champagne Rose and the Fancy Nancy Gloss. And the Lipsense Bombshell and Praline Rose are both great – I’ve been wearing them a lot.
