Hey-o!!! I’m here today with another collection of “things I’m digging.” I love putting together these posts! I keep a running list of things I see, hear, smell, read, and want to share so when I sit down to write about them I sprinkle you with all.the.enthusiasm. : ) (Side note: don’t you wish regular keyboards had emojis?! I can’t tell you how often I want to use a certain emoji expression when I writing to you guys!)
I am sniffing…
I just ordered three of my very favorite candles made in Charleston. (Remember when I met the owner?) I burned my last Chardonnay candle to the ground, and bought a new one along with the Rose and Wine Under The Tree scented one for the holidays. I found them most cheaply on Amazon via Prime! (PS. If you’d like to put wine under my tree, I’d be super pumped to open that gift, mmmk?)
Also on my “good scent” list? The Fleur de Sel line of soaps and sprays from Williams Sonoma. Cleaning the counters with this makes my whole kitchen smell amazing!
Reading…
100 Days of Real Food has a new book out! It’s packed with another great collection of recipes made with wholesome, simple ingredients. Lisa sent me a copy to peruse, and everything looks so fresh and creative.
On the Kindle front, I am 25% of the way through The Nightingale and am loving it. It’s a war book that (so far) focuses on the women’s perspective. As a women’s history major in college, it’s right up my alley!
Wearing…
I buy new running shoes once a year, maybe twice if they are extra worn. I’ve been wearing the same ASIAC GT 2000s for years now, but I decided to switch things up and go with something new. I polled a few of my fitness blogging friends and decided on these Brooks Pureflow 5s. They were on sale (running shoes are one thing I always try to buy in the last year’s model), and I really love them. They are so soft and light.
Eating…
On my trip to Dallas, I flew on United, and they have these caramel waffle cookies (called stroopwafels) as the free snack. (A huge upgrade from dry pretzels!) These give Delta’s Biscoff some serious competition. I can’t decide which I like more. The waffle cookies are much fancier with a caramel center, but I think the simple crunch of Biscoff might win for its superb flavor as a lighter snack.
Back in my kitchen, I’ve been doing a lot of sautéed spinach. By the end of the summer I am tired of salads, so I turn my huge salad bowl into a tiny half cup of cooked greens. I appreciate the warmth and have been mixing up flavors with everything from lemon to maple to feta cheese.
Listening to on repeat…
TOTALLY OBSESSED with this song by Drake White!! It’s one of those that you can feel in your soul. I love the melody, music, lyrics and delivery. The whole package!
Coveting…
I am a total sucker for tech commercials, and have seen a few for the new MacBook Pro. I have a Macbook Air (which I LOVE) so I will not be buying a new computer anytime soon, but there is definitely a crackle in the back of my brain that is longing for that cool touch bar on the top of the keyboard. As an aside, my sister lives within walking distance of the Apple Store. #jealous. I’d just pop in there to browse all the time.
Young House Love wrote about this succulent-shaped candle recently, and I think it’s so cute! I love candles you can hide with a lid when not in use. I gotta get myself to Anthro to give these a smell.
Watching…
I took Mazen to see the movie Storks in the theater and it was so good! Children’s movies are so hit or miss, but this one was a home run in my opinion. I thought the characters were great, the plot was good, and it was really cute. Mazen really liked it!
But the one to really write home about was Trolls!!! It was SO GOOD! We loved all the glitter, positivity, singing, and more. I want to go see it again!
And duh, I’m watching Survivor. Sh!t is about to go doooooown!
Feeling….
Festive. OMG it’s the holiday season y’all! I used to tune into Christmas music on November 1, but these days I have to get a little closer to Thanksgiving. I’m feeling the urge in the back of my mind : )
And speaking of holidays, Happy Veterans Day those who have served our country and their loved ones <3

Hi Kath! There is a way to use emojis on your regular keyboard, BTW. The command is:
Command + Control + Space Bar
It brings up the emoji keyboard, just like we have on the iphone. ????
Also – I’m loving the holiday spirit already too! I am such a sucker for anything holiday haha..

In the Netherlands, they put stroopwafels on top of a hot cup of tea or coffee and leave it a few minutes. It melts the caramel and makes it amazingly chewy and warm. Try it next time!
KathEats says
YUM!!

YES to stroopwaffles and echo the popping them over your coffee to soften the caramel. They sell them in Starbucks in the UK and, *heart eyes emoji*, so good for a treat! 🙂

Haha love the emoji talk!

First of all–so much happiness is woven throughout this post. I can tell you have some good energy in your life these days!
Second of all–yes, Trolls was so great!!! I’m still listening to the soundtrack (via Amazon Prime Music) more than a week later.
Third–get ready. The Nightingale was one of the best books I read last year (or probably any year), and it knocked me off my feet as it get closer to the end. A truly emotional and thought-provoking book…I think you’ll really love it.
