I am sitting 5 feet from the EarthFare doors, which blow FREEZING air in every time they open. Wrapped in my coat and scarf and still cold. Why am I sitting here? Because the natural light was better for food photography!! I am thinking about relocating after I blog – or getting a cup of tea!
I paired soup + salad today to get in some warmth –
A cup of Thai Chicken Red Curry
And my usual salad, minus the usual amount of toppings to accommodate the soup addition. I still needed to fill up so I can make it to 8:15 for dinner! I’ve got a LaraBar for snack.
- Greens: Romaine + spinach dressed in a little Goddess dressing (75% of the salad is greens on the bottom)
- Veg: Broccoli, carrots, bell pepper, squash, 1 cuc, mushrooms, a few gingered carrots
- Protein: A small amount of garbanzo beans, kidney beans, soy nuts, a falafel ball and The Best Salmon (just a small amount)
- Grains: 2 toast rounds for my soup, 2 tbsp brown rice
- Fruit: 2 pineapple, 1 cantaloupe piece
- Calcium: A few tbsp feta + blue cheese, 2 pepperjack cheese cubes
Perfect combo.

And I guarantee I am one of those who can taste bitterness – I do NOT like bitter food whatsoever.

Just wondering, do you not have a pre-workout snack ever anymore? I know it used to be one of the things that motivated you to get out of bed (I was re-reading your faqs), but if you’re not showing, are you not eating? I’m curious whether you have noticed a difference in energy during the workout, exertion, etc. Thanks!
Julz says
S0 CUTE! I loved this! 🙂
Kath says
Kristen ,
No, I am not having a snack any more. I think I was just having it out of habit. Now I drink water, which takes away any first-thing hunger, which is probably thirst! I haven’t noticed any difference in energy, and it’s saved me time in the morning.

K says
Oh the things you do for the blog, Kath! We appreciate it 😀 That is a slam dunk salad!
I have another question for ya (I’m full of them this week haha): Remember a few months ago when the TV crew followed you around, was that ever posted online?

Beautious lunch!
I think your palate would be so out of whack if you couldn’t taste bitterness! Thank goodness I can (and DO) taste everything!!!!!!
Good luck with your long day!
PRT says
Did you know that some people find saccharin sweet and others bitter? It’s the magic of food (and chemicals!)
I studied a similar degree as yours in my country and everyday I learnt something that change the way I look at food.
By the way, I love your blog! Wish I could eat so healthy!
allijag says
Any updates on the TV show possibility? 🙂
seelee live (for the love of peanut butter) says
Hey kath….have you ever thought about having your own tv show? you’d be a great tv host!!!

Love the video! You should definitely do more. Maybe add a video tips category to the blog? ;p
Mariposa says
hosting your own TV show would be a great idea! you could do a cooking show.. or a fitness show..!!
Snake says
Yes, you have to do a show and have the theme song be Canon in D. I’d watch it . . .
p.s. tell Kanz he has to get that beer blog going soon, and I mean soon!
Oh She Glows says
What a cute video!! I still don’t know how you walk and read…I think I would run into cars and stuff.

Cute video!
I should do that once it gets warmer around here, as long as I don’t injure myself. I’m a klutz 🙂
Sarah (Tales of Expansion) says
the things we do for natural light!
i remember having a bio teacher in high school who passed out these bitter-flavor papers to the class to taste, and half the class could taste them and was shocked that the rest of us couldn’t. i’ve wondered ever since what i’m missing!
Lena says
I hate that about our Earth Fare! I was wondering about that when they built it, where the eat-in area would go. The Charlotte one has a much nicer eat-in area. 🙁
Still, your meal looks yummy! You just need a hot toddy to go with it! 🙂
bobbi says
I wish we had an earthfare near by:( I love that soup looks yummy!
Red Head, Yellow Dog says
that’s interesting about the bitterness! I wonder what the deal is with some people being able to tolerate spicy food more than others? hmm
Mon says
Soup sounds so good right now!
What do you think of the recent Salmonella outbreak?? I went to the store and had a hard time resisting the urge to buy PB… I am out and want more but it could be contaminated!!!!
I am taking Microbiology right now.. How did you like it when you took it?
Happy oats!
The Duo Dishes says
Mmmm thai chicken curry!

thepinkpeppercorn says

I could walk and read but probably not get very far. If I did that in my neighborhood, I’d probably get struck by a car!

Kath-
I have been reading your blog for more than a year now, but never comment.
But I just have to say this:
I cannot believe that you are selling Dog bowls as “Oatmeal” bowls on your KERF store. Literally, the stock photos have dog food in them. You are tarnishing your brand by selling such low-quality, ridiculous items for sky high prices.
I don’t think you should be selling things like this, unless it is quality and worth every cent of our money.
Mon says
I thought that was meant for a pet. It’s under pets…
Kath says
Mon ,
I haven’t heard the latest news, but last I heard the PB outbreaks were linked to commercial PB – nothing you buy in stores.
And I liked Micro a lot – when it wasn’t killing me with studying!
J,
All I have to say is: MEH.
Kath
Kath says
Just updated myself on the recalls and the newest links, but my LaraBars are months old, so I think they are fine.
Laura says
I thought the bowl was intended for pets as well, going by the description, although I did just notice that it’s tagged as an oatmeal bowl. I suppose it doesn’t matter that much since it’s presumably a brand new bowl and what you use it for is your own choice, but is it meant to be a dog bowl or a people bowl?
Kath says
C’mon guys, a bowl is a bowl!! It can be either!
Sarah W. says
I wish we had an earth fare around here!! that salad looks delish!!
