I’ve been all over the place this morning!
- Two banks (biz, personal)
- Notary
- Harris Teeter
- Bed, Bath, Beyond
- Kinkos
Then I cleaned my floors using this new botanical green cleaning product by Aussan Naturals (coming soon to an OpenSky promotion near you) that I REALLLLLY liked!!! Also, a new Real Simple mop from BB&B! Worked really well.
My friend Meg sent me a lightbulb in the mail
That was really some of her Maple Nut Granola as a thank you for helping her tweak a few blog things.
She’s been telling me about this stuff and slam-dunk-wow she was right!!! Questionably the best homemade granola ever? It totally trumps my Maple Pecan Granola. (But not the Crunchy Buckwheat Granola cause that’s so different 🙂 )
I put it all through my lunch!
Plain yogurt, strawbs, granola
Plus a simple salad from the 2 veggies I picked up at HT
Spinach, carrot, pepper, honey, lavender salt and a few Lemon Rosemary Biscotti as croutons!
A simple lunch, but colorful and delicious.
I need to quickly glam myself up because I’m going to a photoshoot this afternoon (for a local photographer’s series on Cville peeps!) and then I might be crazy and go to the gym (thereby dirtying myself up for another shower).
Or maybe not..
Annette @ enjoyyourhealthylife says
I shower at least 2x/day because of personal workouts and I teach workouts 🙂 Get dirty, Kath. haha. Love your colorful lunch!!
Pete says
Annette, let her just just clean and count it as a workout!
Annette @ enjoyyourhealthylife says
It was a joke, Pete. It can be fun to shower several times a day- calm down! Live life a little!! 🙂
jane says
haha you guys are funny
Jasmine @ Eat Move Write says
That’s the worst part of afternoon workouts. Worrying about showering. I hate that.
I am really jealous of your wood floors. It’s not nearly so common on the west coast. BOO!
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says
Your floors are gorgeous!
Valerie @ City|Life|Eats says
Great job on the floors.
Lunch looks awesome!
Marina says
Oh, enjoy your photoshoot!
Freya (Brit Chick Runs) says
Biscotti as croutons, love that!
A photoshoot – you have such a glamorous life 😀
Sophie says
EEEEeeeeeEEEeeeeeee! I am so scared to mop my wood floors. I’ve heard so many things pro and con for mopping wood floors, especially if they are older and you don’t know if they’ve been sealed/waxed recently (how they soak up the moisture and you need to wick it away immediately so the planks don’t swell, etc). Our house has the original wood floors from the 40s, but since we’re renting, I’d hate to ruin them. Maybe this is what I need to clean then…
Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete says
There are plenty of days when I take 2 showers per day — I sweat like a beast when I work out so there is no way I could skip my evening shower.
I want that mop!
Emily G. says
Have you considered using the Shark Steam Mop? Now they have a Steam/Vac and it’s AMAZZZZZZZZING! All you use is a little electricity and water. Pays for itself in no time! I think the vac/steam mop runs at $149 (or $119 with the 20% off BB&B coupon) and just the steam mop goes for $69 ($55.20 with 20% off BB&B coupon).
KathEats says
I’ve never heard of that! You really swear by it? I’d have to see before and afters!
Emily G. says
I swear by it! In fact, they kept selling out at my local BB&B but luckily when I visited my dad they had some at his store. I wanted to test-drive it to make sure it worked so I used it on his floors and he was amazed by it so much that the following week he purchased one! The reason I mentioned this is the floor dries immediately after going over it with the steam mop.
I always used a regular mop and thought I was getting my floors clean. When I borrowed the steam mop from a co-worker she told me to mop my floors like I normally do, then go over it with the steam mop. I was so embarassed with how dirty the floor actually were. The pads were black..even after mopping with the regular mop!! It was gross.
They have a few brands out there, but I can’t give my opinions on them as I’ve never used them but would assume they would work the same way.
KathEats says
Ok you have me sold! I might have to save up a bit first. I wonder if I can return it if I”m not 100% impressed? Which model do you have and love?
Emily G. says
You’ll have to check with your local BB&B but mine has a 30 day return policy. I have the Vac-Then-Steam and it’s great bc I don’t have to sweep, but I’ve also used the regular steam mop and it does good too! Not sure if you have a Wal-Mart or even want to support Wal-Mart but my co-worker bought hers there and she paid $79 and it came with the mini steamer, too!
KathEats says
Awesome. It’s definitely on my list!
Joyce @ Flowing to Fifty says
Add my AMEN SISTAH! to this. I LOVE my steam mop. Wouldn’t use anything else on my wood floors.
Donna says
Add mine, too. I have the HAAN steam floor cleaner, and it does a great job on my 1920 hardwood floors…maple in the kitchen and oak throughout the rest of the house. I paid $79 at my local vacuum cleaner store.
Mary Frances says
They really are easy to use and you just put the pad into the washing machine. The steam also kills any bacteria, and sure gets alot more dirt than just washing. As a test, I mopped and then Sharked and the Shark got even more after just mopping. But don’t throw your nifty new mop out just yet, that can be very useful for a quick spot clean up or for another area of your house that might not be convenient to Shark(when you move to another larger home).
Krissy - Shiawase Life says
Oh and I have to chime in with Emily G. – I have the shark steam mop too and LOVE it!!
KathEats says
Can I come over and use it next week to test drive!?
Krissy - Shiawase Life says
Sure! Just don’t judge the current state of my floors, lol – since I got my job, the cleaning routine has gone the wayside… 😉
Lee says
I have floor envy. My tile floors have got to go!
Meg says

I’m a firm believe that food made especially for you by someone else just tastes special. 🙂
I typically have to shower 2x/day, unless its one of those awesome days where i wakes up the morning after a night shower having slept juuuust right on my hair. A rarity, but always appreciated.
Nancy-The Wife of a Dairyman says
A photo shoot, how fun and exciting is that?! Is it coming out in some sort of publication the photographer is putting together or is he displaying the photos in a studio? Have a fun afternoon!

What a colorful lunch! Makes me think of summer:-)
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
I LOVE our hardwood floors right after they’ve been mopped– so pretty! I’ll have to keep an eye out for that product!
Ann says
I have been in the market for a new mop, I will check this one out! I need to refresh on your floor cleaning series. We have large ceramic tiles in our kitchen, and the grout gets seriously dirty. I’ve read that you can sort of flood the grout with an oxi-clean mixture, but I need something more powerful that the swiffer wet jet to mop it back up. I think I would go over the whole thing with a white vinegar solution at the end, because that’s how I take residue off everything!
Justeen @ Blissful Baking says
Homemade granola is the best! Maple nut flavor sounds amazing! I think I’ll make a huge batch this weekend 🙂
Baking 'n' Books says
Congrats on the GH website – looks great!
I love the colors of strawberries and red peppers in salads. Add yellow pepper, mushrooms and roasted butternut squash – and it’s beautiful!
…although I think I’m going to turn orange or yellow from all the Squash(es?) I’ve been consuming…
Jason @ Shutter&Saute says
I am always hesitant to use any kind of cleaner with chemicals in it because my dog bites/licks the floor sometimes (who knows why) – I will definitely keep my open for this kind.
Laura @ prettylittlewords says
If I work out after 5pm, I almost *never* shower until the next morning. Only exception is if I have a hot date that night 🙂
Julie says

kaila @ healthyhelper! says
wow sounds like a busy day! that granola sounds delicious…i love maple flavored granola, it’s such a great addition to yogurt! especially vanilla…..maple+vanilla= match made in heaven!
Amy says
You constantly use the phrase “real food”. I’ve never really thought much of it until i tried a frozen meal from a popular weight-loss company today. I looked at it as i was chewing it…total lightbulb moment-this stuff is NOT real food. I have a feeling a cookie made with wholesome ingredients would be better for me than all the fake flavor/chemicals found in that frozen meal. YAY for real food!!
KathEats says
🙂
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
