Went on a nice walk with The Strong Mama today, followed by a yoga class at our gym. The walk was great, but the yoga class was not. The only part of me that got a workout was my concentration (which is good!)
I got home just before dinnertime to find Matt getting a head start "for the sun." So nice of him! We just caught it again tonight.
On the menu: Roasted Apple Sausage, Roasted Potatoes and Braised Cabbage
For me?
Wait, you mean this isn’t for drinking?!
Cabbage braised in beer!
Here is the recipe page: Beer Braised Cabbage. The sweet brown beer sauce was REALLY good!!
Brace yourself…
…."They call him, Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightening. No one you see, is smarter than he!" Do you see him!?
YUM!
For dessert, we tried the these Ghiradelli Luxe Milk chocolates sent via the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program. I loved the hazelnut one – reminded me of hazelnut butter love!! I have to say though, I really don’t love milk chocolate anymore. Bring it on dark! Hazelnut + dark would be dreamy. Still, these were great after a good meal
I have to be up early tomorrow to travel to Richmond for a dietetics day. Might have juuuuust enough time to squeeze in a movie first!
Amy says
YES I see Flipper. That is freaky!
Sarah-Mae @ Eat, Run, Knit says

Chelsea @ Strawberry Sweat says
I love the picture of Flipper in the beer! So fun 🙂
I love the idea of beer braised cabbage–perfect for fall!
Di says
Sounds yum, although I’d have to do the braising in something else, as beer is a major migraine trigger for me. We had apple sausage for dinner tonight too – the chicken/apple one from Aidell’s. So tasty, with mashed red lentils, a very KERFish dinner, if I do say so.
The lentils are super easy – I followed the directions on the bag!
Mads says
I’ve been on a chicken sausage kick too!
We made pizza tonight, but plain with some veggies on the side sounds delightful.
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
Mmm hazelnut dark chocolate is the best…though milk chocolate sounds like it would be pretty good too 🙂 Hope you have a great night!!
Krystina (Organically Me) says

Holy Crap there is a marine mammal swimming in your beer!

Sometimes the concentration is all I need for a good yoga class! I hope your next one leaves you shaky and tired, just like you like. 🙂
Dinner looks great, but I think my favorite part was the dolphin in the beer. And I wish I were more refined with my chocolate loves, but they all agree with me so, so much.

Your meals always impress me! You take simple ingredients and then do such interesting things with them. That apple sausage sounds delicious!!
Allie says
I feel the same way about milk vs dark chocolate! I’ve gotten on such a dark chocolate kick the past few years that milk just isn’t the same. Hazelnut + dark does sound like a yummy combo!
maya @ finding balance in tokyo says
I used to be obsessed with flipper when I was younger! Spending part of my time growing up on an island in Belize sure didn’t help with that. I think I kept up a constant lookout for a while just in case he decided to stop by. 😀
Alaina @ The Jogging Concierge says
That is so weird, I totally see it!
Diana @ frontyardfoodie says
Now that is what I call a for reals Oktoberfest meal! Complete with mustard and beer. Love it.
Your rosemary photo makes me want to run to my herb garden and harvest.

Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I had roasted potatoes with my dinner last night too. I love that they are so simple but so delicious! What seasonings do you use for yours?
Andrea says
Milk chocolate is like a high school boyfriend who you just cannot see ever dating again even though you loved him madly at the time because now you are really into mature men (dark chocolate). At least, that’s how I feel about it. Milk chocolate no long has any appeal to me, bring me the DARK chocolate. The darker, the better!
Paula says
Flipper is the best so far!
Natalia - a side of simple says
Aw man I am such a fan of Flipper! Oh Sandy…..
Suzanne S. says
Could you tell me at what temp and how long you cooked the sausage/potatoes?
I have never roasted sausage in the oven (I’ve always cooked it on the stovetop).
Also, what brand of apple sausage did you use?
Thanks!
Kath says
400* for 30 minutes, I believe.
Don’t have the squash brand with me…it’s an organic one from Whole Foods
Suzanne S. says
Thanks, Kath! Did you mean you don’t know the brand of sausage? (you wrote ‘squash’) 🙂
When you say organic brand from Whole Foods – do you mean a brand that is sold at Whole Foods or specifically the Whole Foods brand itself (365 Organics)?
I shop at Whole Foods every week and haven’t found a sausage I love yet. So was just curious! Thanks!
