Couldn’t ask for a more beautiful day
If only the wind would die down so we could enjoy the outdoors! It is WICKED out there!
This afternoon we did manage a grocery store trip to the little store here. Thank goodness for golf cart coverings!
Shotgun!
Don’t forget your reusable bag!
Three’s company
Once home we played a round of Taboo
Hunger hit me hard at 5:00 and I filled a snack bowl with Chex Mix and Wheat Thins
6PM cocktail hour was filled with the usual samplings of interesting brews
I loved the Rogue Hazelnut Brown
Didn’t love the banana bread…
And will always love Matt’s Imperial Pumpkin!
Dad treated us to dinner at Ebb + Flo’s for seafood.
The fried food started with was excellent –
The hushpuppies and okra – both favorites!
The beers were also good – I shared with mom.
And since our whole family has just finished reading The Raw Shark Texts, we were all shocked to find a fish and a shark in the beers!
But sadly, my food was really bad. We’ve ordered this steamer in the winter before, but tonight it was just sad. Nothing tasted good at all. [Matt and I shared it]
And my salad had onions on it, and instead of making a new salad, the chef must have just picked the big ones off because I found about 5 inside the lettuce. Also a disappointment.
Once back at the Marsh Harbor, Andrew threw a party in his room for the Saints v. Falcons football game. Beer and chocolate!
I’ve got a bit of a headache (can’t seem to get hydrated after that run today – I’ve been on fire all afternoon) but I enjoyed a few Christmas treats: a bourbon ball, one of Larbs’s pumpkin cups and a bite of Candace’s gingerbread.

The scenery is pretty beautiful! Taboo is one of my favorite games – it’s so much fun/hilarious to play.
Katy (The Singing Runner) says
Beautiful photos!!! Looks like a great time, despite the cold!
Elizabeth (SomethingPithy) says
As someone who works in the food and beverage industry, it really bothers me when waitstaff do that. If you messed up the order and it gets sent back, Do. It. Over.
…Especially if its something as simple as a side salad.
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Looks like a beautiful day! It was windy here too! Hopefully it will die down a little for you tomorrow!
Tracy says
No joke…I ran out to the grocery store earlier today after seeing Larbs’ pumpkin cups so that I could give them a shot. That recipe is a keeper and my first go at them came out awesome! Thanks for sharing 🙂

The wind here has been WICKED as well. My car was being pushed around on the highway.
I don’t think there’s anything worse than bad seafood. But those sharks are so cool! 🙂

On I hate getting mediocre dishes! That’s why I probably annoy people by taking so long to order! 🙂
Lauren says
Why are those hushpuppies so darn good? Sorry the seafood wasn’t the same, but at least there was chocolate. That never lets you down. 😉
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says
what a beautiful place to be this time of year. such pretty pictures.
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
Bad seafood is the worst kind of bad food- when it’s bad, it’s really bad. At least dessert was still delicious, right?
Michele @ Healthy Cultivations says
Seafood is so good… usually. So disappointing. And the landscape is so gorgeous!!
Maria@ The Fitted Apron says
Spectacular pictures, the Island looks beautiful.
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
Gorgeous pics! What a fabulous vacation. 😀
Sorry that the steamer wasn’t great. They always seem to be hit or miss for me, depending on who makes them and how fresh the seafood is. 🙁
Keep having FUN! 😀
Stacy @ Every Little Thing says
That’s sad your dinner wasn’t up to par, and sad you don’t like onion! I put those suckers on everything.
Rogue makes great beer!
Your photos are so pretty but I can see how cold it is!
Nicole (the other one) says
We have a grilled cheese restaurant near us that serves the Rogue Hazlenut Brown on tap. Grilled cheese and good beer…mmm.

what lighthouse is that??
Edward - If You Can Read, You Can Cook says
Loved the golf cart covering. During the spring, I work at a local greenhouse where we get around on golf carts. If it’s raining or snowing out, we use the large rolls of shrink wrap to enclose the cab of the golf carts!
Allison K. says
I’ve tried that Banana Bread beer too..I had such high hopes for it. It wasn’t bad…but wasn’t great!
Nikki T says
This island you guys are on looks awesome!! I want to go there 🙂
I also wasn’t a fan of the Banana Bread beer…I did have high hopes for it, but no go 🙁
I will say that you and your blog have inspired me to look for a taste all kinds of beers and wines! I’m just waiting for Matt’s pumpkin beer to arrive in stores…in Canada!! 😉
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
That’s too bad about your dinner! I don’t mind if my own cooking doesn’t turn out well, but I hate it when restaurant food is bad because you still have to pay for it! 😛 At least dessert was good though!
Amykinz says
Love the fish and shark in your beers! I totally see it! But, you won’t get any “cold” sympathy from me 😉 I live in MN – where’s it’s REALLY cold (although today it’s a HEAT WAVE of 30 degree F!)
