I had so much fun on my field trip from the bakery!!!
I headed up to the gym for Body Pump!! It was weird to be back, and even though it’s Saturday, I felt like I was playing hooky! Luckily the bakery is just a mile or so from the gym!
Also luckily, I didn’t seem to lose any strength! I was on my usual weights and had a good class.
My gym doesn’t offer towel service, but you can pay $2 per towel use. I arranged my account so that I can charge towels to it, and that has made SUCH a difference in being able to shower there! So long as I don’t use one more than once a week or so, I’m fine with the extra cost for the convenience it saves – especially now that I’m working a lot more.
Showered + clean!
I wanted to go Farmer’s marketing, but I had my bike and the bakery to return to.
I had plans to go to the Blue Ridge Country Store for lunch where there is a great BYO salad bar but it is CLOSED on the weekends!!!
Instead I got hot walking to the other end of the mall to go to Rev Soup for the Gulf Salad – greens, egg + shrimp!
The base salad was good, but I made it better with GH peppers, tomatoes, extra lettuce, pickle and a hunk of Apple Crunch. I like BIG salads!
I’m back at work and very thankful for the break. Workouts are such an important me time for me – I hope I can have more breaks next week.
See ya!

I also love BIG salads…whole head of romaine…and I love body pump, new to it, but feel so good when I am finished, plus I continue to burn calories for hours w/ lifting weights.
Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] says
nice self-portrait 🙂 happy saturday!
Khushboo says
Nice to see you getting in some ‘me’ time in the midst of the madness! Workouts are important to me, they actually help destress me!
Chloe (South Beach Girl) says
Big salads are the way to go! It’s great that your gym is so close to the bakery, that will be especially handy in winter time.
Val @ Balancing Val says
Ah, the beauty of owning your own business 🙂
I think everyone should be able to practice self-care no matter where they work!
Freya (Brit Chick Runs) says
With salads – the bigger the better. Can’t go wrong!
Ashley says
Glad you were able to get in a real workout. Even when things are go-go-go, they are so needed! 🙂
Emily @ One Sweet Vegan says
I love BIG salads too. The bigger, the better! I’m glad you got your workout in.
Morgan @ Healthy Happy Place says
This may sound really ignorant, but what happens if you guys want to take a vacation or take a day off from the bakery? Do you have staff that will take over in those cases?
KathEats says
We probably won’t be vacationing together for a loooong time 🙁
But yes, we’ll eventually have staff to help out – and Karen!
Baking 'n' Books says
Oh – that’s sad 🙁
Does Matt take a “work-out” break during the day as well? Is your gym a chain-gym – I’m assuming if it has Body Pump?…and, uh, do you have to dry your hair?? – I am SO jealous how it comes out soft and not frizzy!!( not like mine – sucks).
That shrimp looks crunchy!
Sandy says
Glad you got your workout. I think it is important not to get out of the habit. It is crucial to your mental health as well as physical health.
Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn says
Ahhhh that shrimp looks so good!! Do you know a yummy dairy-free sauce to cook/coat shrimp in?
p.s. Showers at gyms are a LIFE saver!
Robyn @ Blueberries and Oats says
Being able to shower and get fully cleaned up after a workout makes all the difference in my book!
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
your salad looks great Kath! The shrimp looks yummy in particular. I too feel like workout times are me-times as well. It’s important that we all get that time~have a great Saturday!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Looks like a good salad! Glad you were able to sneak away for some workout time.
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
Does your hair naturally dry looking that good? So jealous- I have thick, frizzy hair, so showering at the gym would require me to lug my blowdryer and straightener!
KathEats says
I used a blowdryer!
Baking 'n' Books says
Oops- got my answer!
lynn @ the actor's diet says
i’ve got similar shades – they look a lot better on your face shape!
Marissa says
I had a hugh jass salad for lunch today, too! They’re my favorite. There’s something so satisfying about picking your way through a whole bunch of textures and flavors. No two bites are exactly the same! I love working out between breakfast and lunch, too; its the best part about summer vacation for me.
Oh, and I was just plugging my food into my calorie counter (trying to gain weight is too hard!) and did a double-take when I saw your face on one of the ads! Hah, I was so surprised and excited that I knew who you were; I made a print screen! http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt203/HorseGirl8161/Kath.jpg?1307816991
KathEats says
Awesomeness!!
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
I want to try Body Pump SO BAD but my local Y doesn’t have it 🙁
The Teenage Taste says
I totally agree with you about workout time be a neccessity. When I workout, especially when I run, it’s a nice time for me to think and maybe even relax…while I work up a sweat of course! Plus nothing can beat the high you feel after a good workout, right?
Have a great day, Kath! 🙂
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
Isn’t it ridiculous when gyms dont offer towels?! I understand it saves them money on washing expenses and what not..but dang! I was spoiled by my old gym that offered towels (even shower ones) and then switched over to my current gym which it took me a few days to finally start remembering to bring towels along because they don’t have any. I still forget every now and then!
Simply Life says
Great looking salad!
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Happy you took some time away from the bakery to do your bodypump. I think it is super important to keep a sense of normalcy in your life when going though big changes (like, ya know.. opening an amazing bakery!)
Mama Pea says
Yay for time for yourself! I’m starting to worry about all these long hours…it’s the mom in me 😉
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
There is a time to save money and be frugal and a time to know when to spend it. And spending it on clean towels is a GREAT use of funds after a gym session. Oh yes, you NEED to be able to shower at the gym when you want to 🙂
Have a great afternoon and love your shades!
Namaste Gurl says
Yay for finding time for you– you deserve it 🙂
Have a successful and relaxing rest of the day 🙂
Maria @ Beautiful Busy Bee says
Now I’m craving pickles! I’ve heard a lot about Body Pump, what’s it like?

I like big salads too! Restaurants never make them big enough for my liking! 😛
Holley @ Lunges and Lashes says
i am with you, the bigger the salad the better! probably why i prefer a bowl, otherwise it starts falling off my plate!
AJ says
I use a travel/camping towel at the gym when I’m on my bike (similar to those quick dry hair towels). They’re small but work really well and dry quickly and take up very little space in my pannier bag. Highly recommended!
Mary Frances says
Even if you just had regular towels, put the wet towels in a plastic bag until you get to the bakery and put them on a towel rack to dry in the back room. Maybe after a while you can even get a small apartment dryer at the bakery–$2 per towel once a week is over $100 per year! Even if you don’t want towels drying in the bakery, keep them in a bag until you get home and just have a larger supply of towels to work with until laundry time. You can justify purchasing more towels by the savings of using less energy to heat your water and the water itself at home vs. showering at the gym and electricity for the hair dryer.
KathEats says
Not worth it!! $100 a year isn’t too much for the luxury 🙂
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
It’s going to be wonderful once things calm down at the bakery to have everything so close! I imagine there will be a lot of biking in your near future. 😉
There is never enough salad for me… bring ’em on!
Cait's Plate says
I’m with you on the workout time – I need that time during my day to stay connected to myself. Even if it’s just a 20 minute walk during lunchtime 🙂
Glad you got out and got a workout out in.
PS – love that picture of you with the reflection in your sunglasses!
Bee Goes Bananas says
It looks like such a fun day! It’s gloomy here, so the sunny pictures brighten up my day a little!

Yes! Big salads are the best. It drives me nuts when I order a salad and it comes in a little side dish. My belly can fit a lot of greens. 😉

I’ve been reading about a lot of people who love BodyPump. My gym doesn’t offer it. And I would totally pay $2 for the towel convenience, although it’s too bad the don’t include it. Is your bakery going to be open on Sundays?
Amy says
LOVE those big ole’ salads! Especially with shrimp…I’ve been obsessed with grilled shrimp lately. MMMMM.
kris (everyday oats) says
You must be one of the most productive people ever! (in a good way of course 🙂 ) I wish I could accomplish as much as you everyday…And you still manage to blog so many times a day!
Lorin says
Can you adjust the original recipes Great Harvest has or do you have to follow it? I looked up the Savannah Bar thing just because you said it’s not “lite” and I was curious. It’s amazing that it has 50 g of sugar, that’s a lot! It’s probably more from honey and the fruit?
KathEats says
We can adjust them, but most of them we followed exactly. There is brown sugar in the savannah bar – yeah, they’re more dessert than breakfast.
Molly @ RDexposed says
I love the feeling of a shower right after a sweaty workout!
J3nn(Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
