Just because yesterday was our last blast of cold for a while, my brain thinks it’s 70 degrees outside. #weatherobsessed I woke up in the mood for a green smoothie. And spring cleaning. And a sunny outdoor run. Riiiight….Um, try 28 degrees!
{Just to be clear….that’s not what our yard looks like now! I wish! That is what’s to come : ) }
Nevertheless, I went with the spring-wishing smoothie. I blended together a big handful of spinach, half a cup of milk, half a cup of Fage 2%, half a banana, a quarter cup oats and a few cubes of ice. Topped with some of the Lucky Charms General Mills sent me in honor of today’s big holiday: National Cereal Day! Lucky was my favorite cereal growing up and I like to pick out the marshmallows enjoy some a few times a year for nostalgia’s sake!
Yesterday afternoon my house was filled with children as we brought back Friday afternoon play dates! We had a long hiatus due to late nap times, but our kiddos are growing up and don’t need those naps anymore. It’s been great to get everyone back together, and so fun to see how their play dynamic has changed.
Matt and I dropped the ball on dinner, so we decided to order a pizza. Mushrooms, green peppers and pepperoni are our favorite toppings. We made a green salad on the side to fill us up.
Hope you have fun plans for this Saturday – even if that includes catching up on TV in your jammies!

I am also looking forward to spring weather, although I don’t mind the cold nearly as much as the inconsistency of temps.

Hows does take out pizza fair up when your used to Matt’s homemade? He must be super critical of bases (and all things bread!) as a baker?! 🙂 We actually got up to the 60 mark here today, sun was doing good work!
KathEats says
Eh they are both great for different reasons!

I’ve always wondered – how exactly do you eat the cereal (or granola or whatever) on top of a smoothie? Eat it first, then drink the smoothie? Mix it into the smoothie (but wouldn’t it get soggy and gross)? Eat the first inch of smoothie+cereal together with a spoon, then drink the rest?
KathEats says
I eat it all with a spoon!

I was visiting Charlottesville last week, and we stopped in the bakery for an afternoon snack (maple scuffins…good gracious they were amazing) and ended up trying the cheese bread and the cinnamon bread. All sooooo good! And then I found your blog through other means about five days later. Funny coincidence, huh?? Will enjoy “browsing” back through your posts with warm thoughts of BREAD!

What a fun coincidence! So glad you enjoyed the bakery. And have fun reading!

No more nap at all for M? You know I always have nap questions 🙂 My little one hasn’t napped for me (unless in the car) in over 3 weeks! He turned 2 in November. Should I just drop the “Quiet time” even? It ends up just frustrating me!

I wouldn’t give up on QT! I think everyone (adults included) could benefit from a little rest period. If he/she hates it, I’d just start with shorter times. I bought a bunch of new toys (some second hand/borrowed) so that I have really cool stuff to rotate in and keep QT exciting. Also don’t give up on naps either – sometimes they just go through phases (per my friends’ advice). M still falls asleep about 1/3 of the time.
