It’s been a lazy – but active – Sunday for sure!!
I spent the morning learning this dance route by Nappy Tabs!! They’re famous on So You Think You Can Dance and in honor of National Dance Day they choreographed a routine for folks all over to learn. I’ve done a lot of jazz, but I haven’t done any hip hop so this was really fun to learn!!
When I first started out, I couldn’t keep up and was so lost because they’re teaching it mirror from you. But I stuck to it for about 30 minutes and I got it!! So much fun! I’m going to keep practicing!
After getting all warmed up dancin’, I met my dance teacher Faith at the Monticello Trail for a hard run! We did 2ish miles up to Monticello – ALL UPHILL! I didn’t wear my Garmin so I don’t know our speed, but we killed it!! Talking to. I was out of breath, but it was all good.
Back at home I practiced my dance a bit more and then dug into this nutritious lunch!
At my talks to the Slimdown class I told them all about sardines and how easy and healthy they are for you. I decided to practice what I preach and made a sardine salad for lunch. It was actually Trader Joe’s Smoked Herring (which is my favorite) plus carrot, pepper, tomato, mustard, mayo and salt + pepper. Served over garden greens with olive oil, honey and salt with pretzels on the side!!
Somebody came over for a visit and went CRAZY for my herring!!
He was jumping up, sniffing – going crazy!! I caved and gave him a tiny taste on a silver spoon.
Iced minty tea
Dessert! Who needs a bowl.
After lunch, Matt and I went to check out an open house in Belmont. Did you know I’m house obsessed and have been since I was little? I love looking at open houses, as my family used to go to them for entertainment when we were at the beach.
This house was SO charming and fun, but only had 2 bedrooms. I hope we can buy one sometime soon!
A few hours later – and probably due to so much activity! (the bike ride a long one) I was getting very hungry again.
It seemed like a good time to try Krissy’s Butterbeer Cupcakes!!
If Butterbeer were poured into a cupcake, this would be it. It was fabulous!!
And to balance my carbs with some protein, a small bowl of plain yogurt on the side.
Tonight – it’s out to dinner again. Karen invited us to restaurant week ages ago (before we had such a busy schedule) so it’s now or never. This girl’s sticking to sparkling water tonight!
Molly @ RDexposed says
Please hop on your Nimbus 2000 and bring me a butterbeer cupcake!!

Glad you enjoyed! I sent the rest home with my sister; I think she is going to try and sneak them in while she watches the newest release 🙂
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Um delicious looking… EVERYTHING. Loving the salad (although I am not a fan of sardines.. it still looks tasty..) and after you bring Molly a cupcake, swing by CT and drop one off to me if you don’t mind 😉
Have fun at restaurant week!

What a great lunch! I love the idea of adding pretzels- such a fun topper. Now I kind of want to learn the dance 🙂 Hope you have a good time at dinner

Where oh where did you get the white flower-shaped bowl holding your yogurt!? So cute!

You have mentioned that before that you enjoy open houses. I had my last house on the market 13 months and showed it over 75 times!!!! before it sold. Needless to say, lots of people who just enjoyed looking to look….were looking at it.
The cupcake…omg. Perfect!
Lauren says
Wow does that watermelon look amazing!! I want one of those butter beer cupcakes! I’ve already seen the movie twice! Where are you going for dinner? My mom and I are trying to come up with something good. Our usual places are C and O, Continental divide, and Mono Loco. Any suggestions? 🙂
KathEats says
Check the Cville page!
Lauren says
Right! Meant to do that and forgot….thats what happens when I’m this tired 😉
Lauren says
Perfect, thanks! One last (silly) question. When you get a twitter for your blog, do you enter your name or your blogs name? I am so clueless twitter-wise!
KathEats says
It’s up to you!
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
oh my goodness butterbeer cupcakes sound amaaaaazing! 🙂 I want one!
So glad you’ve had such a wonderfully active yet relaxing Sunday! 🙂

That dance video looks fun! Reminds me of when I was little, my neighbor friend and I used to choreograph dances all summer long, lol. We didn’t have an audience, though! haha
I want that cupcake. 😀

Haha – that really is the ultimate Fancy Feast! It was so nice of you to share (I wouldn’t have been able to resist that cute face either).
My boyfriend and I are also OBSESSED with houses. We’re always looking, always going to open houses, it’s so much fun! Actually it was you that got me addicted to House Hunters years ago because you mentioned it once.
That butterbeer cupcake really does look amazing – I’m dying to make those!! I’m thinking I need to have an HP marathon in October complete with those 🙂
Tara says
Aw I gotta try to learn that routine! What a great idea for a fun workout! (I am loving using my Dance Central on the Xbox Connect…only downside is it takes pictures of me from a honestly unflattering angle as I do it LOL). Quick question: how do I know exactly how many calories to plan for in a day if I do calorie counting? I do calculators online that say around 1500….is that net? I am just checking because since I am partially breastfeeding my baby I don’t want to slip too far under.
KathEats says
Hmmm. I can’t really say without knowing a full description of your daily activity, but if you’re breast feeding 1500 sounds too low to be gross. So I’d assume that is a NET number. Might want to check with your doctor for a better estimate?
kaila @ healthy helper! says
That salad looks amazing! I love the addition of pretzels!
Robyn @ Blueberries and Oats says
Butterbeer cupcake!? :O Recipe please!!
Heather @ Get Healthy With Heather says
Butterbeer cupcake!? That sounds awesome. I love sardine salads… never tried herring though. How does it differ?
KathEats says
They are very, very similar. I can’t really tell them apart so I just call them all sardines. I think herring are a little bigger?
Hannah says
Okay, you *have* to show us a video of you doing the fance now!!
KathEats says
I really don’t think I’m brave enough!
Jackie @ That Deep Breath says
The cupcake looks delicious! I love going to open houses…it’s so fun to get ideas and who knows, someday you might find one you absolutely have to have!

dance routines make me wanna cry! i was traumatized when i used to audition for broadway shows back when i lived in NYC!!!
Natalie @ Adventures in Jackson says
You should do a post on that…I for one would LOVE to read what that is like!! I have only auditioned for little local productions, and that was nerve-wracking enough =).

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who likes to be a creeper and peer into other people’s homes. I swear that’s why I’m so obsessed with HGTV!
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
I love open houses and keeping up with real estate too!
Heather says
I love sardines. Can’t wait to try this out. I used to have to learn dance routines for choir (forever ago). I’m NOT a dancer and would be so nervous. However, I LOVE So You Think You Can Dance.
Eileen says
I love the idea of Nappy Tabs! I danced a fair amount growing up, but I feel too dorky to try a local adult class. I would definitely do this in the privacy of my house!
Margo @ peanut butter trees says
Love that you added pretzels to your salad!
Aine @ Something to Chew Over says
I’d like a butterbeer cupcake 🙂
Lisa @ Sunny Seed Stories says
No way! I really thought I was the only one who went to open houses for fun! I love homes–and fantasizing about my perfect future house. Nice to know I have a buddy in that respect. 🙂

Tiger reminds me of this cat that lurked around the house we rented in Maui.. he was so adorable! It took all of me not to steal him & bring him back to Texas (as if he would want to leave Maui anyway!)
