Here’s a recap of my friend trip to the Outer Banks.
Friend Trip To OBX
When our beach trip to Bald Head Island was a wash, Katie suggested we take a re-do trip to her parents’ home in Corolla on the Outer Banks. While we knew the water would be too cold for swimming this time of year, we were hoping for sunny skies so we could at least do several walks on the beach. Half of the long weekend was stormy, but we did get some great sunny beach walks!
Road Trip Lunch
We got up on a Thursday and drove the fours hours to the coast. We stopped at the NC Coast Grill & Bar for lunch before heading to the house.
Beers & Shrimp Chowder!
Beach Walk
The weather was pretty cloudy and very windy, but we took a short walk before the rain started.
Most of our time was spent on this giant couch reading, playing games like Rummikub and the Wordle Party Game (great Christmas gift for anyone who loves NYT games!), and of course doing the NYT games over coffee every morning. We also watched the movie ‘Challengers’ and I do not recommend. It was bad! I love that we are such a chill relaxed group just happy lounging!
Simple Fish Tacos
On Thursday night, we made tacos with fresh mahi mahi. Simple, but we didn’t have the effort to make them fancy! The fish was the star.
Breakfast
Quesadillas / Salad / Sun Chips
(hoping for the sun to emerge!)
Beach Walk #2
Once the rain let up, we ventured out for beach walk two!
Low Country Boil
For our second night, we made a low country boil! This meal is so easy and such a crowd pleaser.
Chef Sean’s Pancakes
Sean made us Kodiak pancakes on Saturday morning.
And the sun was out!!
Beach Walk #3
We did a really long walk this day soaking up the breezes!
Island Boi Series
Formal Night
We had some laughs at formal night after being in joggers for two days. Everyone dressed up to head out to dinner!
Dinner at North Banks
We had dinner at North Banks which had great service and great food. We enjoyed drinks at the bar while we waited for a table, and the bartender gave us each an oyster!
I had a crab dish and spinach salad for dinner – forgot to get pics!
Final Breakfast
Final Beach Walk

This looks so fun — and I’m continually impressed with how good you are at making friends as an adult! It’s so intimidating to me but you make it look so easy. Are these ACAC friends, and is everyone that goes there just super nice and welcoming? Help a gal out!
In all seriousness, how lucky you are to get away from the craziness and relax as we head into a holiday season! Can’t wait to see what y’all do for Thanksgiving, I feel like I’ve been living vicariously through you the last few (many?) years!

I’ve always hung out with the people I see the most because it’s so easy to make plans! And yes Acac is really a friendly place. The people who all go to the same classes as me – I see them 3-5 times a week. Thomas thinks it’s funny that I go to the gym to socialize but it’s what makes working out so fun. I definitely workout better and harder with group ex than I do if I go solo with headphones.

Looks like a fun weekend with friends. I kind of love the off-season in a typically seasonal place!
Never been to the Outer Banks but would love to one day!
