Guess what time it is again?
Travel time. It seems to just pop up every so often.
I’m not thrilled to be leaving [because I have SO much to do at home for the bakery] but in some ways it will be nice to get away. And have my own hotel room. And meet some new blog friends! [And some old ones : ) ]
I depart at noon for Fairfax, VA for the Virginia Dietetics Association annual meeting. Gotta stay up to date on the research and my continuing education! [Although, you know how I’m such an anti-procrastinator? After this weekend I’ll be halfway through the continuing ed that I have 5 years to complete in 9 months!]
This morning I made Scottish oats again. I almost made a smoothie but it was |thismuch| too cold outside.
Manna bread rules!!
Maranatha almond butter isn’t my very favorite in flavor, but MAN does it melt!! Look at that puddle of goo!
The Mix
My pajama pants make an excellent sun shield for indirect light! Today was also an off day for my camera. Just not feelin the groove!
Small cup, half full
Matt and I are going on a Sunday morning walk and then I’ll see you from NOVA!
lynn @ the actor's diet says
i am a traveling machine as well (i’m in philly right now as i type) and there seems to be no end in my future. makes being at home a time much appreciated, though!
Jumanah @ Healthy Living in the Middle East says
Unfortunately, I am such a procrastinator! Its very impressive that you are half way through your continuing education. I probably would have waited until the final year to cram everything in. Such a bad habit that I have- wish I could change it.
Have a good trip to Fairfax!
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
I have to try those scottish oats, they look so fluffy! Have a great trip, it’s best to be traveling today as that NOVA traffic is terrible during the week! 🙁
Joyce @ Flowing to Fifty says
Inspired by your anti-procrastination! What do you do on mornings when you just can’t get moving? I fly out the door at 7:00am every week day morning so I just can’t seem to get things done on weekends. But I want to!!! Enjoy your weekend conference, and teach us all kinds of interesting healthy food stuff when you get back.
Briana says
LOVE that bowl!
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
I am definitely not a procrastinator myself. I like to get things done and out of the way.
Allison @ OneWhiteTulip says
I’m in NOVA! Are you doing any kind of meetup? =D It’s a great place to be.
KathEats says
Yeah – you must have missed the invite a few posts ago
Lauren at Keep It Sweet says
Love the PJs with the oats:-)
Cindy says
Enjoy your trip!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
We were hoping to travel today, but our car has to go in the shop first thing in the morning…that stupid check engine light. Have a safe trip Kath!
Cait's Plate says
I feel that same way about travel. I love it once I’m there but I always feel like there are a million things I SHOULD be doing at home instead. Have a great trip and enjoy the “time off” 🙂
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
I am the exact same way! Definitely an anti-procrastinator. I hate being stressed out at the last minute, so I make sure I plan ahead and get everything done WAY before schedule. I honestly love that about myself! 🙂
Ahh, those are adorable sleep pants! I actually have similar-looking ones… although I think blue stripes are probably pretty common. 😉
Have a safe trip!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
Have a great trip!
I so wish I was an anti-procrastinator! Any tips? 🙂
Michele @ Healthy Cultivations says
Your anti-procrastination is admirable. I’m similar in some respects, but in day to day life, I tend to procrastinate way too much. I’m working on it though. Enjoy your walk this morning!
Angela (Oh She Glows) says
Your pictures are beautiful, but I know what you mean about having off days with the camera…some days no matter what I do, or what lighting I shoot in…they just look fuzzy and ‘off’! grrrrr 😉
Safe travels!
KathEats says
Fuzzy – yes! sometimes they just aren’t crisp!
B & B says
I love Maranatha Roasted Almond Butter! Blue Diamond is “richer” tasting, but MN is my fave.
Your a traveling machine. Do you find the complimentary courses beneficial for you given that your not the “typcial” in-house dietitian? I see you more as baker/blogger, etc. Although – then again – you do your freelancing for nutrition!
Nancy~The Wife of a Dairyman says
Have a great trip and enjoy that hotel room to yourself:)
Michelle (The Runner's Plate) says
I am not a fan of Maranatha either. I don’t know what it is, but it seems kind of plain tasting.
I love taking walks with my husband. We spent our whole walk yesterday playing “would you rather”–it was great!
Dee says
I think your pictures look as fab as ever. I agree with Angela!
Have a great trip!
Elizabeth says
I’m with you Kath… I’m way past the 75 required hours, with more than 3 years to go! haha
We’ll just be more up to date than everyone else 🙂
staceyhealthylife says
Have a safe trip. Hopefully it will be a fun and pretty one.
Molly says
You’re half way through? I still haven’t even made my goals yet!! I have a handful of CEUs but none to correlate with goals. Thanks for the PDP motivation!
Kristen @ Change of Pace says
We’ve been doing a lot of walks lately… Wish I was in your town though! It sounds so exciting!
Laughter-Loving Stacy says
I tried scottish oats for the first time yesterday, they make for a creamy oatmeal! 🙂
Enjoy the conference!
Lea @ Healthy Coconut says
You are really an anti-procrastinator. What can’t I be normal and do that too? lol
I finished my finance CE that I had 2 years to complete, the last 2 weeks before it was due. Phew…barely made it. I learned my lesson and never doing that again.
MonsteRawr says
While I am wildly jealous of your traveling adventures, (shit, do I need a vacation,) I can understand how you’d rather be at home. Enjoy your walk and your trip!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I haven’t traveled in a while – my family used to live in the Middle East so we flew a LOT, but I’m craving a trip at the moment and would love a change of scenery. However, I understand that traveling as much as you do can be quite tedious! I hope you have a great trip and good luck packing!
Allie (Live Laugh Eat) says
Eeps! Excited to see you again! Can’t believe it’s been since Foodbuzz…yet I know [almost] all the details of your day to day life 🙂
Photos look great–just as good if not better than normal! Esp. #3 and the coffee cup photos. I can never get coffee to look good!!
MLK says
Hi Kath!
I have been reading your blog on a regular basis for the past 2-3 months and I LOVE IT! I have never been much of a blog reader but yours has changed my mind. I love reading/seeing all of the different healthy meals you prepare. You have inspired me to start cooking again. For awhile I was living off of frozen Trader Joe’s meals, which I don’t think they are THAT bad for you, but there is nothing like cooking your own dinner as opposed to heating it up in the microwave! And your oatmeal . . . IS TO DIE FOR! I have always had trouble finding a filling and healthy breakfast (as I don’t like eggs . . . I know, shame) but your oatmeal keeps me full until lunch with all of the add-ins. And I LOVE the organization of your blog. I think I have been turned off of blogs in the past because some are arranged so hap-hazardly (and there is nothing worse than an ugly website) but your’s is organized, colorful and easy to read.
Keep up the great work and congrats on all of your success, you deserve it!
-MLK
P.S. I have even stopped into my local Great Harvest for bread . . . AMAZING!
KathEats says
So glad!!!
Bronwyn Coyne says
I feel the same way about Maranatha. Ugh, something about it is just not as good as other almond butters. I wish I could be that anti-procrastination. I’m usually just getting it all done.
Marisa @ Loser for Life says
Safe travels, Kath!
Allison @ Happy Tales says
So I have to share, yesterday I was in bed bath and beyond and saw this to-die for mug that I just *had* to have!!!! I’m currently sick and nursing a sore-throat and all i’ve been thinking about and doing is drinkingwarm, hot tea… and when I saw the mug I was like “i need to be drinking my tea out of THAT mug *right now*!”
Talk about an impulse buy… but it felt so fun to gain a new piece!
KathEats says
🙂
Errign says
I have been ALL ABOUT the Scottish oats lately – ever since I got home from Singapore & was dreaming about the fantastic oatmeal in the hotel buffet there. I think I’ve mastered their technique – oats cooked with milk & a sprinkle of sugar cooked super low and stirred well. Super sweet & creamy!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
Even on your off days, your photos still look good! 😉
Amanda says
do you know where you’re eating in nova!? i can suggest great restaurants…ohhh to be back in nova 🙁 i miss home!! have a great time! it’s awesome weather!
KathEats says
I’m not sure – but I’d love some recs!
Meg says
Oh if only I were closer to where you’ll be! I’d love to meet again 🙂
Your life is full of travels, geesh! I know it’s enjoyable but I definitely feel ya on wanting to be home for the bakery and jazz! Oh and the cute kitties who greet you outside your door 😉
Breakfast looks marvelous! I love melty nut butter!
Chelsea says
I am the queen of procrastination…I got it from my mother. Have fun in Northern Virginia and dont worry about your priorities for a little while, because they will still be there when you get back….thats the thing about to-do lists they are always there when you get back to them, they are so dependable like that.
Becky O'Brien says
Kath,
Love your blog! If you’re free one evening while you’re up this way, give me a call. I’m actually hosting a Healthy Living event here in my home tomorrow evening at 7:15. Will be a packed house. Would love for you to come over!
Stacey (The Home-Cooked Vegan) says
Have fun! The dietetics meetings are really informative. I skipped this years! But go you- almost halfway through your continuing ed! Way to knock it out!
Have fun in NOVA!
PS. I’ve tried Maranatha AB a few times, and have always felt it needed a little more SOMEthing…just can’t put my finger on it!
Katie says
Safe travels to you and have a great time seeing old friends and new! Cant wait to see where you guys go to eat, I used to live in Alexandria, VA, there were so many great places to dine around that whole NOVA area!!
Loving the pajama pants ; )
Natalia - a side of simple says
Sundays are definitely days when you just need to rock the moccasins for as long as you want 🙂
Hilary says
The pyjamas are appropriate for a Sunday anyway. 🙂
Stacie @ Imperfectly Healthy says
I hate procrastinating too! I’m already halfway through a big written assignment for a class that’s not even due for another month! I don’t like to wait until right before to do something!
Allison says
Hey Kath,
This is kind of random and I’m not sure if you’ve ever done a post like this before, but I was wondering if you could write about how you order when you are out at restaurants (how you find something healthy on the menu, if you ask for substitutions on things, etc.)
Thanks!
-Allison
Kay (skinnybound) says
I love your traveling posts! You do a good job at letting us live vicariously through you. 🙂
kaila @ healthy helper! says
Woah do you mean you have to complete 5 years worth of work in 9 months!!??!!?? I am so sorry…that stinks! Sounds like your trip to Fairfax will be fun and informative….enjoy!
renee says
I think she’s saying she’ll be halfway through the work after *only* 9 months (!)
Kaila @healthy helper! says
Oh haha! Thanks for the clarification 🙂
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Nice nice–lovin the almond butter gooe-ness 🙂

I have never tried Scottish oats, but perhaps I will! I do adore whole, rolled oats though. They are so hearty and chewy and comforting!
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
I feel like I have off days with my camera, too! I feel like I just can’t get it to focus sometimes and it’s very frustrating!
