From the weekend – gratuitous shots of El Tigre at play!! He disappeared for a few weeks, but he seems to have found our porch again!
We found a half eaten strawberry on our porch. I think it was him! I hope they are safe for cats to eat because we have a whole patch out there that he could get into!
I rocked Body Pump today, er, “Pump Challenge.” Chris’s class is a step above regular BP. He LOVES long holds. I hate them!!! But today I somehow managed to make it through them all with just a grimace on my face! I also would like to note that my weights were the heaviest in the class (tied with a few other women) which made it even harder! I piled it on today. My muscles have REALLY gotten toned from going 2x a week all spring!
Lunch was killer salad
Piled high with leftovers
- 1 hard boiled egg
- Strawbs
- Grilled eggplant
- Pecans
- Avocado
- Green pepper, cucumber, zucchini
- Lots of honey drizzle!!
- Lavender salt + olive oil
High Five with strawberry jam on the side
Return of the bubbles!!
Do you want to know how busy I was last week? Last night I found an episode of Glee on my DVR from last week. I’ve already watched this week’s episode and didn’t bat an eye, but today I realized I skipped a whole episode without watching it!!
Don’t think that would ever happen with Gossip Girl though : )
I’ve got a 2pm meeting and I’m hoping it doesn’t rain because I’m heading out on my bike!!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
ET is so cute!
I love the first pic of your salad — what a beautiful mountain of food 🙂
Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) says
I love your leftovers lovin’ salad. Everything all piled on and ready to dig into! A great way to use up leftovers, too.
And El Tigre is such a pretty kitty. When I used to have cats, I found them to have a bit of a sweet tooth so not surprising about the berries.
Hope you have a great afternoon!
Emily @ Savory and Savage says
An especially tasty looking salad that you made today!
Have fun on the bike!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Glad the cat is back – she’s so cute! Do you get worried when she disappears for days? I don’t think strawberries hurt cats. I once had a cat that liked to eat salt and vinegar chips – after that, I don’t worry about anything they eat. 🙂
KathEats says
I don’t worry – he lives across the street, so he just doesn’t come to our house but he’s still over there. I can hear his mom whistling for him every night!
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
I’m definitely jealous of your 2X a week Body Pump sessions! I work out hard at the gym and everything but still think my muscles looked more toned when I was able to attend Body Pump. I’ve been debating going back to the gym I don’t really care for (used to work there) & is more expensive just for the fact they offer BP.
Haleigh says
El Tigre is so adorable! It’s kind of funny how cats just wander around to new homes. Your salad is so full of beautiful colors- it looks delicious, too!
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
You go girl, I love the HEAVY lifting, so important for everyone, (provided there are no complicating injuries.)
I love your salad lunch, lunch time is when I love to get a big veggie full meal in as well.
Best wishes with all of the bakery prep! 🙂
Michelle (your girlfriend for fitness) says
I am loving the strawberries, so fresh!
Sarah Leigh says
El Tigre has such a sweet face! 🙂
Freya (Brit Chick Runs) says
LOL I did that with a whole series of ER once! I didn’t realise the DVD discs were double sided, so I watched the first 4 episodes, missed 4, watched 4…I declared at the end of the season that I hated ER cos it was so disjointed and incomplete. I felt like a right muppet when I realised my mistake!
Amber says
Oh my gosh, that is hysterical!! Thanks for the laugh! =)
Nikki (BareFootPrint) says
I saw over the weekend that your June 3rd date was set in stone, correct? If so congrats! You and Matt have worked so hard for this!!! Also, El Tigre looks like my cat, Fatty!!
KathEats says
Yes!! i meant to announce it!
Andrea @ The Skinny Chronicles says
As always, your salads never fail to impress. Kitty is cute, too.
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I love doing ‘extras’ for my class at BodyPUMP….and watching their faces 🙂 Glad you loaded the weight on<—and that you're not afraid of adding weight to your bar. Go you!
Love the piled-high salad!
Hope says
That salad looks amazing! I love eggplant. I haven’t bought it at the store because it’s been pretty expensive but I picked one up over the weekend and I can’t wait to prepare it! 🙂
Love Gossip Girl! 🙂
Kim @ Spoonful of Sass says
I’ve heard that strawberries are somehow related to catnip, so it’s no surprise you were gifted a half eaten one on your porch. When I bring them home from the store, my cats always go straight for that bag!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Aaahhh the life of a cat! I swear they have it made. Sounds like a great day Kath. I hope the rain stays away! Have a great afternoon!
Amy says
Strawberries are safe for cats – my kitty used to love them, before he became diabetic and couldn’t eat fruit anymore. Hmm, maybe the strawbs WEREN’T the best for him …
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says
I am having a major eggplant craving now…mmm.
MonsteRawr says
Pretty kitty! And don’t worry about the rain; it all seems to have settled over me! *sigh* No running for me today…
Morgan @ moments of mmm says
I love the picture of Tigre licking his paw. What an easy-going way of life!
Amanda- The Nutritionist Reviews says
That salad looks amazing! I think you just inspired my dinner!
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
I’m pretty sure that cat was stalking Charlottesville when I live there.
Glad to know some things don’t change. 🙂
Baking 'n' Books says
Love eggs. And grilled eggplant.
Oh God – the picture of him (her?) licking his paws is too cute. I take it your a Glee fan? I can’t get into.
Kayla (Little Miss Healthify) says
He is sooo adorable!! I can’t get over that photo of him licking his paw. Precious.
So cute that he likes strawberries! My dog loves carrots, it’s hilarious.
Jane says
I love the pics of the kitty! What a lovely little sweet visitor!! 🙂
Also, the salad looks amazing-as always!! 🙂
Michelle (The Runner's Plate) says
I love the feeling of “noodley” arms and legs after an intense weight lifting session!
I am the queen of leftovers in our house.
Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me says
yay kitty cat! I want a furry friend. They’re so cute and cuddly.
Lisa says
Aw what a sweet kitty! And an excellent model posing for photos! My kitties are always more curious about the camera than posing. 🙂
Kristen @ The Red Velvet Life says
Your salad looks delicious! Also, I made your kale chips for the first time last night and hubby and I absolutely LOVED them. I must always have kale in the house now. 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration, Kath!
Miranda @ Working Mom Works Out says
Aww, cute kitty!
And the salad looks delicious. I have to say that I’ve always hated salad dressings. But since I started using honey (inspired by you), I can’t count how many salads I’ve eaten.
Hope the rain staves off for your ride!
KathEats says
🙂 I feel the same way! I love salads so much more now that I don’t put on gross bottled dressing
Katie @ Nourishing Flourishing says
I know this is weird, but that is the most delicious-looking salad I think I’ve seen on the blog yet…? Maybe it’s just the simplicity of it, or the strawbs (ok, definitely the strawbs) — but I would like to eat my screen right now.
Have a great rest of the day! : )
Carrie @ Nutrition By Carrie says
No such thing as too many gratuitous cat photos. Especially the ones where he’s running toward you with his tail straight up. Too cute! Sigh…I miss having cats. There aren’t even any outdoor cats in my neighborhood, so I really do look forward to your el Tigre photos!
Salad photos made me hungry…good thing it’s time for lunch in my time zone. I have my own salad-with-leftovers planned!
kaila @ healthy helper! says
WHAT AN AWESOME SALAD! I love the mix of sweet and savory! Eggs are one of my favorite salad toppers! So fabulous Kath!
Jenny @ Shelf Love says
From 1994-2000, I lived in Cville doing my graduate work in French. We had a cat who looked exactly like El Tigre, who started out as a feral cat! One of my co-workers at a bookstore tamed him and gave him to us, and he was our cat Oskar for 14 years before he died. Maybe El Tigre is a relation!
KathEats says
Awww – maybe he is your kitty’s grandcat!
lynn @ the actor's diet says
i don’t know much about cats, but i know grapes/raisins are deadly to dogs
Alaina says
That cat is too too cute. 🙂
Your GH pictures are making me want to head there right now!
SquatLikeALady says
What a pretty kitty! He sure knows it too 😉
And those photos of your salad are GAWG! =) I’m copying you but subbing the egg out for salmon tonight 😀
Allie says
El Tigre is adorable ! I love the picture of him licking his little paw 🙂
Way to rock the body pump class 😉
Hope the meeting goes well!
Lynda says
just dropping by to say that today, I was driving by Harris st to look for the habit for humanity store, and I totally saw your store in McIntire plaza~ The posters on the windows looked so good, I wish I could’ve jumped in for some bread already !
KathEats says
Sweet!! Hope next time you drive by we’ll have bread ready for slicing!
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
killer salad is right! 😀 you and Panera bread are way up there on top of the list for salads hehe
Running With Mascara says
That cat is sooo cute! I always wanted a tiger-striped cat! You take such beautiful food pictures!
Sarah@The Flying ONION says
Haha…did the cat actually *eat* the strawberry? I’ve never seen that before. 😀
KathEats says
Well we didn’t see it, but I’m not sure who else would do it!?
Jess says
My cats eat all kinds of weird things, including fruit and veg. It probably was the cat!
Alie says
My cat goes crazy when I bring home strawberries. He mainly likes to come steal the green stems from me, but I don’t think the berry will hurt him!
Mary Frances says
Hope you make it without getting wet.
Maybe El Tigre was thinking the same thing about you. Being so busy with everything and the bakery, maybe you just missed each other. Might want to get a cat toy on the end of a fishing rod to play with the kitty(s) because you don’t want them to get too fond of the strawberries or they might just beat you to them.
Stacy R. says
Just started my third week of body pump and I’m loving it. Haven’t experienced a huge change in my weight loss yet, but my arms are looking amazing and I’ll rock my wedding dress!
lynn @ the actor's diet says
by the way – i just saw this and thought of you:
http://bit.ly/lPwY3Z
it’s about keeping cats out of your gardens (for litterbox purposes)
KathEats says
Haha -cute!!
Lisa (bakebikeblog) says
ooooh I love Body Pump!
Ally says
El Tigre is awesome!!!
Rebecca @ How the Cookies Crumble says
I had a cute kitty with markings like that in college. He went to live a farm in Charlottesville. Could it be my little pumpkin Mr. Higgins? My little cutie would be about 13 years old now so I’m guessing not.
Love a big salad on a nice day. Perfect spring time meal!
KathEats says
Maybe a relative?!
Molly @ RDexposed says
Maybe you need a gaurd dog to keep both rabbits and cats out of your garden.
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
Aww, El Tigre is soooo cute. Reminds me of the kitty we had named Tigger. Looks just like her!
Your salad looks amazing. Love everything on it! YUM!!
Foodie (Fab and Delicious Food) says
What a cute cat!
Love zucchini on salads!
Emma (Namaste Everyday) says
I seriously need to get body pumpin!!!
Kaitlyn @ 7 Plates says
Beautiful cat AND salad.
Katherina says
Awww kittay!! <3 What a cute kitty!
Vanessa says
Everytime el tigre appears in your blog, I smile. Too cute.
Lisa @ Fit in the Midwest says
I’m with Vanessa above and almost wrote the exact same comment. He makes me laugh out loud. Love that cat.
Congrats on doing a great job with Body Pump. I really need to get back into it soon.
Spiceaholic says
Hee! Look at the tail on him! He’d make a great kitty boyfriend for our Chloe.
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I love it when I have the perfect leftovers to add to a salad! They always take it up a notch from just a plain old salad!
Karis (Karis' Kitchen) says
Love the photos of El Tigre! He reminds me of my cat Merlot. Although I think El Tigre is getting a bit more exercise by roaming around outside, because he’s definitely more svelte than Merlot 🙂
Kat @ Cupcake Kat says
Aww he’s so cute! That is a gourmet worthy salad. Yum
Hannah says
That cat has the most gorgeous eyes! How funny about Glee!
Khushboo says
I love that you refer to jelly as jam! Having grown up in London, I always associate jelly to be jello.
Lenna says
Awesome salad and awesome cat!
Steve Sigmon says
I think a bird transported the strawberry to your porch, and Mr. Kitty was transported by hypnotic bird-watching to a new level of happiness. The strawberry was just a fragrant prop left by stage hands.
Maggie says
I think a big problem with body pump is that people are too quick to compare themselves with others. Remember that different bodies are capable of building muscle in different ways and at varying levels! It hurts people who are not genetically able to build a lot of muscle to be compared to those who are able to, based on how much weight is on their bar in class. It’s about doing what is right to build your own body’s strength in that moment!
