The Easter Bunny just made a stop through Virginia and gave us a bunch of his offspring to babysit for the weekend. Aren’t they cute enough to…eat!?
He keeps complaining of cold, though, so I think a visit to the oven will warm him right up!
I slept horribly last night – I think I was anticipating my alarm all night. Baby kept kicking me too!!! I did all my usual defenses to put myself back to sleep:
- Re-adjust eye-mask
- Bathroom trip
- Drink of water
- Turn fan on higher speed
- Remove a layer of blankets
- Re-do ponytail
- And then finally…some juice
Guess which worked? Fell right back to sleep after the juice. I have to BEGIN with that next time!
I actually biked to the bakery this morning. Matt needed me here at 7 and walking takes 30 minutes. I usually have the time to walk, but not this morning due to sunrise, and since I’ll be making 6 trips back and forth to the gym, home and bakery today, I asked Matt if he would tune up my bike, which was already put away for a very long time. I’m being VERY VERY careful (not that I’m not always careful, but I kept my speed low on the hills and practiced extreme defensive driving) It’s mostly neighborhood streets, so not too many cars.
Baby said “wheeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!” the whole time – he wanted me to go faster, but I had to tell him not till he’s older!
I really miss biking! And unlike some of the other things not recommended in pregnancy that are generally OK as soon as the baby comes out (foods, drinks, etc.) I doubt I’ll be biking at all with a newborn.
I brought overnight oats to eat (and plan on having hot bread tomorrow morning!)
Official recipe is here! Layers of plain yogurt, oats, milk, chia seeds, cinnamon, salt and banana. Plus a dollop of sunbutter and Cville Cluster crumbs on top! Served with a big hot mug of coffee – mostly decaf. Mmmmm! Best part of bakery mornings is the free already made coffee
See you when the bunnies are baked!
Stephanie @ Legally Blinde says
I can’t get over how cute those bread bunnies are!! They definitely look good enough to eat, haha. Hope your work at the bakery goes well!
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
How cute are those!?! I wonder if people will cut them the same way they eat chocolate bunnies, ears and tail go first of if they’ll start at one end and progress to the other. Apparently I start Fridays by overthinking.
Happy Friday!
Angela @ Happy Fit Mama says
Love the bread bunnies! Wish we had a GH closer to us ’cause I’d pick one up in a heart beat. Enjoy your day at the bakery!
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Nothing better than free Coffee!!
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
Awww!! Those little bread bunnies are super cute. Free coffee is the best! Have a great day! 🙂
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Bunny Bread…how fun! I will have to try that with my next batch of bread. The kids would love it! I need my bike tuned up…biking weather is soon upon us! Have a great morning!
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Cute bunnies! That is quite a list to get back to sleep! I can’t sleep in pony tails~ the bump in the back is extremely uncomfortable. I used to when I was younger and found I had a lot of breakage in my hair from sleeping with an elastic in.. because the hair would pull whenever I would move!
Laurin says
I think I am unnaturally excited to see that bunny bread all baked up! So so cute!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Sounds like a fun morning at the bakery! And I’m all about defensive driving on my bike, I’ve learned cars are not looking for bikes, so I have to look for them! Have a great Friday!
Molly @ RDexposed says
Any vegetarians/vegans buying bread bunnies?
KathEats says
Probably!
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
Blasphemy!! 😉
Mom says
I always feel so guilty when I bite the head off a chocolate rabbit. Funny, I sure can devour marshmallow peeps lickety split though.
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Too fun! Who wouldn’t love a bread bunny? Sorry about the sleep, but I’m glad the juice worked. I hope you guys have an incredible day at the bakery!
Jasper {crunchylittlebites} says
those bunnies are friggin’ cute! Have fun working — yikes, I hope you get a break!
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I would most likely buy one of those bunnies! BTW, I know our GH around me sells gluten free bread – do you guys sell it as well? My favorite is the GF Dakota. Oh. My. Gosh. Making french toast with that is by far the best thing to have ever happened to me.
Chelsea says
This post is just too cute, made me smile!

You might want to look into the Burley Bike Trailer! Probably will be good for when he is about 9 months!
Anna @ On Anna's Plate says
Ahhh, those bunnies are so cute!!! Love ’em!
Cait's Plate says
They definitely ARE too cute to eat. I love those little guys every time you show them.
And once again, I contemplated overnight oats last night but decided to go without it and now looking at your breakfast it’s ALL I want 😉
Congrats on 19 weeks by the way!

Those are adorable! The baking bug just got me yesterday – I made chocolate cupcakes with nutella frosting. So bad… in a good way. 🙂

Those bunnies are so adorable! I think the baby wants to eat one 🙂

The same thing happens to me– I resist getting up to get a snack because I’m afraid it will disturb the “relaxed” state I’m in… The when I finally give in and eat something, I fall right to sleep. My friend who’s taking psyche right now said its because food (esp carbs) stimulates our parasympathetic nervous system, which is in charge of calming us down/making us sleepy. It’s just so confusing when you don’t actually feel hungry!
KathEats says
Very interesting!
Christa says
I need to try these chia seeds!
Jessica says
Every time I read about the bakery, I want to drive the 72 miles to my nearest GH. I still have never been there!
I have a wedding coming up in July and I admire your sense of style, you have worn some super cute dresses! Can you give me ideas of good stores for a cute dress for a wedding? Online preferably, since I am in the Midwest and might not have some of the stores you have. Thanks!
KathEats says
Hey Jessica, My favorite stores are LOFT, GAP, and Banana – I bet they all have cute dresses right now!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
The bunnies are so so cute! Random fact: When I can’t sleep, my fall-back-to-sleep routine seems to involve re-doing my ponytail too. How odd is that!? Maybe my subconscious just feels more comfortable knowing I’ve got a good looking ‘do. 😛 LOL. Have a great day Kath!
Jen says
Too cute! This time next year you’ll have your own little Baby Bunny! 🙂
Chelsea says
I love the bread bunnies! I’ve been contemplating making Dr. Oz’s ‘sleep smoothie’ for nights when I have trouble getting back to bed. It’s a mix of tart cherry juice, banana, soy milk, and ice. Supposedly tart cherries are one of the richest sources of melatonin!
Kim @ Spoonful of Sass says
Those bunnies are too cute! Hope you have a happy Easter!
Allison K says
I think a ponytail would keep me tossing and turning all night! I have found, that during my pregnancy, unless I am awake because I have to obviously use the bathroom, or in my 3rd trimester because my hips are aching, I probably need to eat something. It was hard to get over my normal thoughts of “I don’t eat in the middle of the night.”

My mom biked while pregnant with both brother and me, she said she thinks thats why she had such speedy deliveries. She biked right up til the end as that was her only mode of transportation.
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Love your bunny breads – so cute! They’d be a perfect hostess gift.
Heidi Bundles Of Hugs says
Super cute bunny bread! When I can’t sleep I find that drinking a glass of juice or water always puts me back to sleep. It took a while for me to figure that one out too. I love riding bikes its so fun and different than the same ol walking everywhere. I was riding my bike till I was 8 months pregnant then the big belly was in the way and almost impossible to pettle. Enjoy it, haven’t seen that bike since them. That was well over a year ago 🙁
Heidi Bundles Of Hugs says
wow did I just spell pedal* wrong..I blame the baby and lack of blood supply to my brain :p
Megan @ Megan's Munchies says
Bread bunnies always make me smile!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
Those bunnies are too cute, Kath! I would love to make something like that at home with my daughter. She’d have so much fun helping!

When my daughter was about 5 months, I put her in the Bjorne and biked with her (carefully and slowly) on the beach path that I usually run on. It was nice, and she seemed to like it 😀
The bunny bread is adorable!
Candice @ Outdoor Chirp says
O how I wish I lived closer to a Great Harvest! Ill have to stop by there on my next trip to Cville (love it there!) I totally forgot about overnight oats! What world am I living in?! Definitely putting some in the fridge tonight.
Bucky says
I’m not sure where you read that you can’t bike when you’re pregnant. I biked up until about 8 months which is when my centre of balance got wonky. Plus, I had my toddler in a front bike seat with me and my belly didn’t fit anymore. It’s great exercise.
KathEats says
My doctor said it’s fine, it was just a personal decision not to since I normally ride on roads with cars.

Just bought some Twin Oaks tofu (the herby kind) at Earth Fare today. Can’t wait to try it!

The bread bunnies look great. What a brilliant idea. I couldn’t sleep with a ponytail – sounds uncomfortable!

It will probably be a couple months before you even want to THINK about sitting on a bike after giving birth.
