Have you heard of the app/game called Draw Something?! Matt and I are completely obsessed. We have played over 150 rounds and laughed so hard. It’s kind of a win-lose-or-draw with partners. You draw a photo of a word and the other guesses. Unfortunately my phone doesn’t have screenshot and you can’t save your drawings (at least in my Froyo version) but I have snapped a few photographs of some of our work.
Me drawing Portrait
Each time we try to be as creative as possible in setting the scene and pull in as many inside jokes as possible – so if the word is “trash can” we draw our front yard with the trash can popping up last – rather than just make it easy and drawing a typical can.
Good example: Snowball. Instead of drawing snow, I drew the Simpsons with their cat (who is named Snowball!)
Here’s Matt’s version of Anthill
And his Computer showed a screenshot of KERF!
One of my favorite drawings of the week has been Matt’s version of Heaven where he drew a tiny Lillian : )
Matt is definitely the better artist of the two, but I have come up with some pretty hilarious creative drawings!
<>end of nerd segment</>
I made rice krispie treats for my book club tonight! Karen brought over the ingredients – I think I gave her this box of brown rice krispies I wasn’t going to eat that I bought at the Whole Foods closeout last year a long time ago. So I made a big batch and saved 25% for Karen and 75% for book club.
The secret ingredient: 1/4 cup TJ’s Cookie Butter!! I’ve been trying to get rid of this jar for ages. Ever since I tasted Biscoff Crunchy I realized cookie butter has nothing on Biscoff. The 1/4 cup didn’t add tooooo much flavor, but there’s a hint there!
This was my first time making RKTs! They weren’t hard, but they were super sticky!
Ready for overnight oats!
Taste test!
I also made an egg salad sandwich for dinner after hard boiling some eggs. After a few bites of RKTs and the egg salad that wouldn’t fit on my sandwich, I didn’t know what to have for lunch.
I’m in a weird food funk this week. Our garden greens have bolted and are not really that edible anymore, so I’m at a loss for what to eat. We have TONS of fruit and that’s about it.
So I put watermelon and nectarine together in a bowl
And paired that with a cup of cottage cheese
And that was lunch.
I’m planning to eat my sandwich as late snack/early dinner before yoga and then have more snacks at book club. Weird day!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
I love adding peanut butter to my RKTs, then drizzling melted semi-sweet chocolate on top… mmm. 🙂
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
I love rice krispie treats! I found a recipe for cookie dough rice krispie treats that I am dying to try. They sound amazing 🙂
Gretchen says
Completely obsessed with the app!
Vivi @My.Beautiful.Air says
fantastic digital art! what an awesome game, and your rice crispy treats look amaaaazing! your mom skills are showing. 😉
Katharina says
What is the froyo version of Draw Something? Love the drawing of Heaven…RIP Lillis Billis. 🙁
KathEats says
It’s the older version of Android – my phone won’t update to Ice Cream Sandwich 🙁
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I love the idea of adding some nut butter to the rice crispy treats! Haha I would try those and ignore the wheat in the cookie butter just to see what it tastes like! I love homemade RKT, but I HATE the packaged ones. They have a weird smell… Haha this hatred started when I was about 10, I can’t remember the last time I actually ate one. Probably when I was 10.
Ashley @ Hudson on the Potomac says
I love DrawSomething! I’m not very artistic though and drawing on my tiny iPhone screen doesn’t do me any favors!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
My husband and our boys play that all the time. I only help with the guessing though. My husband is an illustrator and our boys both can draw…me, not so much. It’s a fun game though!
Khushboo says
Mmm RKTs totally bring me back to my childhood!
Rachel says
me and my sister are obsessed with Draw Something!!! We play it all the time haha I never though of adding PB to rice krispies.. sounds really good!
Brie @ Coxswain Dilemma says
RKTs are divine. Especially with butterscotch!!
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Looks like a good lunch and not weird at all! I just bought nectarines at the produce market and can’t wait to have one later!
Jordan @ Bake Write Sleep says
Wow, the drawing for portrait is really intricate.. haha. KMFT and I play but we play where we see if we can draw the least amount of detail and get the other person to guess it.
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
adding cookie butter to rice krispie treats is a brilliant idea! i can’t decide if i like biscoff or tj’s version better… i like different parts of each more than the other.
lynn @ the actor's diet says
i’ve yet to try the cookie butter from TJ’s – i KNEW it wouldn’t be as good as biscoff!
Carrie says
I have book club tonight too! We are discussing The Dovekeepers (which I didn’t finish.) What is your group reading?
KathEats says
History of Love!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
OK, currently downloading the app as I type this!! I have heard of it before but hadn’t really thought much about it till now, and I am excited to play. Pictionary was one of my favourite games as a kiddie (and still is!) so I can see what’s going to happen with my evening tonight… 😛
Dani @ The Indecisive Wife says
My husband and I also love to play Draw Something! We’ve enjoyed some pretty good laughs over each others drawings 🙂
Erin @ erinberries says
I play that game all the time too. It’s addicting!
Angel7 says
That is a great app/game! I love the pics., and especially Matt’s pic. of Lillian in Heaven 🙂
Sometimes I like a light lunch as well. The thought of something heavy does not appeal to me at those times.

Oooh I happen to have a jar of cookie butter (okay 3 jars) and I’ve been dying for recipes for it! I think I may have just found the perfect thing 🙂
I’ve never heard of Draw Something, but I can definitely see how it’d be dangerous for me!
Annette @FitnessPerks says
I haven’t tried either cookie butter–but I bet they’re good!! We too have lots of fruit–it always sounds good to me 🙂
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
“trying to get rid of”….Okay, I don’t have that issue 🙂
I have never tried Biscoff crunchy. I generally prefer smoother nut butters and spreads so havent tried that one. Original Biscoff, but not their crunchy. I guess if it’s that good, I ought to try it!
kate says
Wow! The Whole Foods sale was a long time ago, I remember because I was going to go but the line was too long to handle with a 2 year old. Was the cereal still in date? Or, does it not matter if they are stale when you mix them with everything?
KathEats says
Tastes fine!
Lexi @ You, Me, & A World to See says
Getting rid of nut butter? It’s always welcome over here 🙂
Courtney says
Yes, totally addicted to that game!!!
kristen @ verbs and vignettes says
those are some pretty amazing drawings! i love that you stretch out the guessing as long as possible. i just started playing a few weeks ago. i stink, but it’s a lot of fun, especially when you’re playing against someone in the same living room.
i LOVE rice krispie treats. only homemade, though. averie shared a recipe with some cake mix in it so they tasted like cake batter. 🙂 your cookie butter idea sounds amazing, but i cannot buy another jar and risk being alone in the same house with it. hahaha.
j3nn says
I was just thinking about making RKTs!! They’re so good but I’ve never made them! I think I may have to check out Draw Something; sounds like something a nerdy couple like Dustin and me could get into. 🙂
Chelsea @ Chelsea's Lovelys says
My husband and I LOVE draw something. We go back and forth all day! It is very entertaining and gets quite competitive! Ooh and that Biscoff Crunchy sounds good and those rice crispies look great!
Megan says
I LOVE Drawsomething. A friend of mine introduced me to it a few weeks ago. I’m up to 200 rounds with her. 18 with my husband (He’s a cop so he just really doesn’t have time for stuff like that). And about 90 rounds with another girlfriend of mine. It’s so addicting.
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
RKTs are my boys favourite…with a dairy allergy, I use Earth Balance Vegan Sticks instead of butter. I also spray the pan with canola oil to avoid using the parchment paper. It is a staple go-to snack on my counter! RKTs never go out of style!
Jillian says
So funny- I’ve been playing the original online version of that game (it’s called Draw My Thing, and I like it even better because it’s actually competitive) for years, so I was surprised when it suddenly got so popular as an app!
Full Flavored Life says
These photos are beautiful! That watermelon and nectarine looks so delicious.
Elisabeth says
So funny you’ve never made RKT! That was one of the things my great grandma & I always made when I went there, so they’re a bit nostalgic for me. 🙂
Emma says
Haha I love draw something, I used to play it with my friends but I got really sick of it when most of them just wrote out the words! So lame.
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
Cookie butter added to rice krispie treats sounds incredible! I banned myself from buying cookie butter ever again though- I couldn’t keep my spoon out of the jar.
I went through a Draw Something obsession about 3 months ago. Greg and I would spent at least an hour each night playing and I had about 30 different games going at once. And then one day, the novelty just kind of wore off. I think it’s because I discovered Instagram. 🙂
Tracy says
My kids and I (and my mom) are also obsessed with Drawsomething! You’re much more creative than we are though. You’ve inspired me once again 🙂
Tiffany says
Hey Kath,
Where did you buy the bowl that you put cottage cheese in? It’s very pretty. Thanks 🙂
KathEats says
it’s a Ramen bowl from OpenSky
