Banana Dough Boy Smoothie!
Overnight ingredients:
- 1/3 cup oats
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3/4 frozen banana
- Pinch salt
I put them all in the blender to soak overnight.
In the AM, I blended them up and added crushed graham cracker, Groovy Granola bar and sunken sunbutter.
I’m a little teapot, short and stout!
Mint Cookie tea + milk
For some crazy reason, our high today is 60*. I can’t wait to play outside!
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Hey Kath! Yummy breakfast. How many calories do you think you eat each morning for breakfast?
KathEats says
400-600. This was probably in the high 400s.
Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
love that mug. love. I don’t know about whirred oats uncooked, but I will try it.
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
It’s really good, I promise 😉
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says
This weather sure is wacky! Have a great Tuesday, Kath!
Emily says
The 60* thing is AWESOME! It is 57* here in Ohio, but it is pouring down rain and very windy! Not so much fun for outside playing.
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
Delicious looking breakfast! Once I get a blender, I’m trying this! Enjoy the warm weather! I’m jealous 🙂
Michelle@PeachyPalate says
One word…Yum!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
I need a doughboy breakfast in my life soon – I never have time to blend in the morning (yeah, that extra 20 seconds is out of the question). 🙂
Mattie @ Comfy and Confident says
Yum! that looks so good. I love the addition of graham crackers, they are the tastiest little treat. It is like half cookie, half cracker!
It is snowy where I am with a high of 30. I hope you enjoy the warm weather!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Ahhh I’m so jealous of your warm weather! I really need to leave Chicago… haha only a year and half left of law school.
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
YUM! We have a high of 7 today (a whopping 45) but that’s warm compared to this past weekend. I’ll take it! 🙂
Jen says
Try fruit toppings! Blueberries. Also, raisins and cinnamon make great toppings and sprinkled loose rolled oats.
Maria @ Sinfully Nutritious says
Yum! I cannot wait to make my shake. Just got done a workout and a doughboy sounds good to me!
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Our temperature is swinging back up…all this up and down with the temperature is bananas! It was so creepy looking outside this morning…all misty, dark and rainy. My run was very messy.
HRCK the Herald says
Yes please I’d like batter for breakfast!
I have a question about your “squiggly line” approach– after a big weekend like this past one, do you actively try to make a few days of dips in the line, or do you eat just as normal (or maybe find that your body wants a few lighter days)?
KathEats says
I’ll probably skip alcohol/desserts and any extras this whole week for the squiggly, although sometimes subconscious like you say – I crave healthy food after a vacation
Sam says
OH how I wish those mugs were at least 24 oz. I’d buy them all up! <3
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Graham crackers + sunbutter are one of my favorite snacks. I need to try them in my oats!
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
“Like batter?” That was rhetorical right?
kathleen @ the daily crumb says

Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Still very chilly up here! I would love some warm weather! We had a wintry mix this morning.. but not enough for a snow day.. or even a delay!
Kristen @ Change of Pace says
This weather is so strange! Isn’t it supposed to be chilly in January?! The high here in NC today is 68*. WHAT?! Your breakfast looks delicious as always 🙂
Cait's Plate says
Gah! I’m so jealous! I woke up to a blanket of snow! Play outside extra for me 🙂
PS – Mint cookie tea!?!?! I WANT THAT!! Does it taste like thin mints??

YUM! That looks so delicious!! Man, I love me some smoothies.
Stacy @ Say It With Sprinkles says
I’ve been really in to tea lately – I go through phases – but I’ve been liking the standard types, probably because I don’t have fancy flavors like mint cookie tea! Yum! =)
~Christy @ wonderofallthings says
Enjoy your romping out in the sunshine! 🙂
Hannah @ Eat, Drink and Save Money says
I usually eat my breakfast at work since we have to be here at 6:30. You have inspired me to make overnight oats in a jar and bring it with me. I had made them before, but today was the first day I brought them with me. So easy! Thanks!
Andrea @FrSeed2Stomach says
I woke up to a couple of inches of snow here in Boston and had have my hot oatmeal this morning, but that does look yummy.
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Enjoy the balmy 60F weather in January. Quite a treat!

Rebecca @ Naturally Healthy and Gorgeous says
You have the prettiest cups and bowls!
Heather H @ Run Eat Play says
It’s snowing and freezing here in Chicagoland. Blah. I love your mug!
Chris says
Love your smoothies Kath! Maybe you could make a separate category for them? You know, “rainy day smoothies,” (gee it just started raining as I’m typing?) “clean out the freezer smoothies,” like you’ve done for oatmeal. What’s the best blender do you think?
KathEats says
Hey Chris!! I should do a smoothie page…
But in the meantime, you can find them all by searching for the SIAB (smoothie in a bowl) tag: https://www.katheats.com/tag/SIAB
Or the set recipes on my Recipage: https://www.katheats.com/recipage?search_term=smoothie&ui=26
Rachel says
That looks like a big old bowl of goodness! And your photo style is always great.
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
Alright, you’ve convinced me. I’m trying this one out. I made an attempt at a dough-boy smoothie over the summer, but I don’t think I let it soak overnight. I also didn’t have my Vitamix then. I’d have to see if it could survive my 20 min. commute in the morning also, as I like to eat when I get to work, rather than at home.
It’s warmer here, but super rainy!
Hilliary @Happily Ever Healthy says
Mint cookie tea sounds amazing!
sally says

Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs says

Blessing @ Working Mom Journal says
Back to the more healthy stuff! Seems like you had a stomach full of goodies up in NYC.
Susan Eaton says
Hey girl, for the non-expert oatmeal people (but I’m trying to get that way), which kind of oats to use? I know I see a picture of it but can’t see if you used the steel cut or the whole oats. 🙂 As usual I love referring to your blog when I need a recipe. 🙂 you can reply here or email just as long as I know I got a reply. 🙂
KathEats says
Hey Susan!
I use old fashioned rolled oats from the bulk bins. Or Quaker Old Fashioned, which are even doughier! Sometimes I cook with Coach’s Oats too (http://coachsoats.com/)
Blue says
Mint cookie tea? Sounds heavenly. Where can I find it? (Brand name?)

Yum that looks magnificent! Does the banana thaw in the fridge overnight?
Life's a Bowl says
Doughy oats? I’d love to add some chocolate chips or peanut butter to make it cookie-like 😀
