Tonight’s trip brought back SOOOOO much deja vu from Chem this summer. Driving up, eating a portable dinner, the lab…….
I think this class will be much better though. The prof is the EXACT OPPOSITE as my Chem prof – almost too type A for even me!! But I like her OK from the start and it doesn’t seem to be impossible. A little too much emphasis on colored pencils and typing up all of our handwritten lab notes, if anything.
For dinner I packed a Mystery Salad that I made this afternoon. It’s somewhat similar to this one we made early this summer if you want to try something similar: Greek Quinoa Salad. I wasn’t that hungry at 5:30, but I’d rather eat when I’m not hungry than be starving in class. I’m really glad I did eat because I didn’t leave until well after 9:00! (Class is over at 8:45…this was the FIRST class…that will tell you something about the prof!)
Plus a side of kashis –
I’m exhausted from the day and need to get to bed so I can get up at 4:45 for my early flight to Boston!! I’m going to get breakfast at Jamba Juice – the only one in our area is inside the airport! I’ve also got an English muffin packed with AB and jam and a ton of LaraBars. I’m taking my computer with me so I’ll be blogging the whole trip – maybe from the airport. I’m stopping through LaGuardia so if I have time and wireless I’ll post then. Otherwise, see you from Beantown!

Sorry you got out of class so late, but at least you are already done with one! So yay for that!

Good luck in class! I’m getting my Phd in molecular biology and I think I worked the hardest in O. Chem out of ALL my classes ever (inc. grad school)! Colored pencils/pens will save your life! You are gonna rock it out though, type A people excel in O. chem! 🙂

I highly suggest the Coldbuster from Jamba! :p

I can’t believe you got out so late on the FIRST class! The prof sounds very… detail oriented?
Have a fun trip! And enjoy Jamba Juice 🙂

I also hated eating early before night classes, but if I didn’t I just thought about food the whole time and didn’t concentrate on the course material. Blah…night classes.
I hated organic lab, but I had a really evil instructor. Good luck!

Your Quinoa looks better than mine for sure. We are new to the grain and I haven’t perfected a recipe for it yet, but we really do love it.
That is great that you are raising money for SGC! Why the random amount?! {You don’t have to answer this, I know I comment on your blog much more than you do on mine and there is no expectation. I know you are a busy lady and you get A LOT more comments than me to respond to so please don’t feel pressure!}

Haha, I’m a science student and was always confused when my arts/humanities friends would say “Oh, it’s the first day, you’ll get out after 10 minutes.” Not in science!
That’s a lovely salad.
Have fun in Boston!

I make a salad much like the greek quinoa but I put tandoori paste in with the quinoa while it cooks and make a limey dressing. Yours looks good through!
