It really feels like ages ago that we lived in Charlotte. It feels more like the city I grew up in than Hillsborough does in a way. But in some ways, we really did grow up here. As we drove into the Queen City this afternoon, we talked about how we felt like we were teenagers when we lived here just pretending how to be adults and we didn’t really grow until the next stage of our lives in Cville.
We had many good times here though, and we miss our friends!
We drove by our old neighborhood to visit our old house which looked pretty much the same
We also went by Great Harvest Piper Glen and as luck would have it, the famous Jeff + Janet were there closing up!! It was so fun to pounce on them in surprise like they did for us on our opening day.
And then we arrived at Kate + Nate’s! They were sweet to have a group of our friends over for dinner to celebrate old times. Caitlin (and Carson and Jason), Diana (and Dan), Kate (and Nate and Liam) and me!
Although this time there were TWO babies!! (Three if you count Baby KERF!)
Cuteness
We had a lovely buffet of food plus burgers and dogs on the grill for dinner
Burger + salad + veg
For dessert, Diana made sugar cookie dough balls – deliciously doughy!!
And we brought a huge box of goodies from our bakery
Plus watermelon!!
After hours of talking, we’re all exhausted and excited for a hot day tomorrow!

I adore that back shot of Nate holding Liam, as his beautiful blond curls shine in the sunlight… masterful!

Ah, I know the feeling. I think of my relationship with my husband that way sometimes. Now with the baby, we have to be adults more often than not! …or be a kid again when it’s play time with the little one 😛
