Part I of our reunion weekend!
When we arrived on campus late morning we met up with some friends at the big all-alumni BBQ picnic.
They had plates of food already arranged for us. The food was good, especially the corn salad!
After lunch we met up with none other than Papa and Mimi! This weekend was the perfect win-win for them to get to spend some time with Mazen and give us a little free time to attend the reunion events.
We tried everything we could to get Mazen to say hello to the Wildcat but he was too distracted by all the golf carts around to care. We ended up going on a golf cart ride around campus to see some of the new buildings and changes.
Back at the picnic, they had kids’ activities and free snow cones!
We went by the bookstore to stock up on logoed clothing for all ages, and then went to our hotel to check in for the night. After dressing up, we all drove back to Davidson to chill out at the Brickhouse for a while before our class dinner started. Mazen ate dinner with Mimi and Papa and then they went home for a bath and early bedtime.
Our class dinner was under a tent and we beelined to the bar : )
The food was great – huge filets of salmon, quinoa salad, broccoli salad, rolls. Plus berry crisp and whipped cream for dessert.
Roomie Alaa’ and I had a good time hanging out!
Late night we went back to the Brickhouse for a bit – old times.
Sunday morning we headed back to town for breakfast at Toast. We had the most amazing weather the whole weekend, so the 30 minute wait outside wasn’t too bad. The Town of Davidson has grown up so much since we lived there!
Worth the wait it was – I ordered scrambled eggs, a huge flapjack and bacon. That pancake was epic with some raspberry jam on top!!
We said our goodbyes and drove up a few exits for a special visit to Brittany’s house! Although we have been friends for years, Brittany and I don’t think we have actually met in person before! We found it funny that we couldn’t really remember. Her girls were super cute, and Hailey and Mazen played well together.
After some chatting on their porch we had a light lunch – salads with herby chicken, chimmichurri sauce and some amazing herb and olive goat cheese.
The four hour drive home was quite uneventful! We may or may not have shared a DQ Blizzard on the drive home, but at least lots of kale salad was waiting for us at the Whole Foods salad bar!!

Looks like a great weekend! I love love love your black dress and accessories, as well as Mazen’s shark shirt! So adorable. It also looks like Davidson was a beautiful place to go to school.
It’s also my 10 year college reunion this year (how did that happen!?), but I’ll have to miss it due to being 8 months pregnant…

I have been a KathEats blog-reader for so many years now! Today I felt like the ads were out of control! They were animated and popping up all over the place, blocking pictures, etc. There was also an audio/video of Sabra hummus that I actually had to pause. I was enjoying reading the post, but all of the ads were so very distracting. 🙁 Other brands I saw were Clorox, Fairlife milk, and others.
Karen says
Hey Kath – These sorts of obtrusive ads are they type I was referring to last time I reported to you…not sure if these are considered “pop–ups” or these are authorized by you, but just so you know…
Meg says
There are also auto-play ads that don’t allow the reader to scroll past until the ad is finished playing. It’s getting a little ridiculous, Kath.
KathEats says
Listen, I’m doing everything I can to work with my ad guy to fix these. He has tried several things – I have a lot of ad networks, and it’s really difficult to pin point which ads are the culprit without screenshots and exact details. He told me last week he found a big offender and had it removed, but we need to tell him they are back. It might just be one network that is coding their ads incorrectly. Please know that I do not intentionally have auto-play or pop up ads that you must click away from to view. The ones that are at the bottom are not considered pop up and you can X them away at the bottom right corner. I appreciate the feedback, but please don’t assume I am here cackling with dollar signs for eyes as you guys suffer.
Karen says
Not at all, Kath…I just wanted to alert you so that you could take action if you deemed necessary. (I only read a couple other blogs, both of which don’t subscribe to ad networks, so I just didn’t know what your paremeters for ads were.)
Stacey says
I haven’t ever seen these types of ads before so it could be a setting on your computer. Try turning off your pop-ups and see if that makes a difference. I have no idea of course, but it seems it’s something more than Kath’s ad guy since not every follower is affected.
I love how rosy Mazen’s cheeks get 🙂
