Very short post for you tonight because none of my photos turned out. Go read about chocolate instead!
The above photo actually did turn out though – because we went to a rockin’ dance party at our neighbors’ and that’s what it was like! Our neighbors are actually the coolest “adults” we have ever met. And so were all of their friends! Matt and I didn’t end up breakin’ it down, but we did make a bunch of new friends.
We nibbled on some amazing dips and crackers, guac and chips and grapes at the party.
For a light dinner before we left, we shared a big bowl of leftover salad –
And I tried the latest flavor of Siggi’s I picked up at Whole Foods today! Sadly it was not what I was hoping for. It’s very high in fat (coconut + 2% yogurt) so it’s pretty calorie dense despite being low in sugar (200 calories per container) but it was not the thick, creamy treat I was hoping for. Instead it was runny and tasted more like vanilla than coconut. Not worth the premium cost, but it was filling. Blueberries + chia seeds made it more fun.
Debating a LOST – or perhaps some Hunger Games before bed!

I agree with you on the Siggi’s … although the strawberry flavor is pretty good, its subtle.
What kind of dressing do you put on your salads?
KathEats says
It’a a homemade blended balsamic – I’m getting the recipe from the inventor
Tracy says
Looking forward to the balsamic dressing recipe! I was just thinking about that last night when I was creating a dressing for my salad.

Too bad the Siggi’s didn’t work out. At least the description sounds marvelous 🙂
Christine @ Oatmeal in my Bowl says
Love the Siggi’s container. Looks very cool! And looks like a fantastic party! What a great in motion picture you took. Could pass for a spooky ghostly Halloween pic, too. Sorry, its my fave holiday. 😉
lynn @ the actor's diet says
go watch LOST!
Jasper @ crunchylittlebites says
stinkers about siggi’s…just think, texture and overall flavor profile for Chobani (i give them A+) and siggi’s marketing would equal DYNOMITE! … I’ve not read the first Hunger Games….but I am on the waiting list at the local library! i know, im a nerd!!!!!!

Glad you had fun tonight! Curious how old your “adult” neighbors are? Probably closer in age to me than to you! Time sure goes by fast!
PS- I find neighborhood parties to be fascinating as all that brings the guests together is where they live, yet strong bonds can be formed. 🙂
KathEats says
I’m honestly not sure, but I think they have at least 10 years on us. Want to be careful of my word choice!
Leah says
I think the reference to “adults” may be offensive enough on its own. I have an older friend who really hates when someone tells her she looks great “for her age”. I try to imagine if I were that person, how would that make me feel?
KathEats says
Well anyone over the age of 18 is an adult, including us, so I think it’s more of a fact. Adults verses kids or teens
Karen says
I’m in my forties and am more than okay with being called an adult and/or being told that I look good for my age!
Kath – Hope you and Matt have a relaxing Sunday.
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
I’ve never tried Siggi’s and so thanks for the review on that one.
Glad you guys lucked out and moved in next to super cool neighbors. Sure beats the alternatives!
Lauren says
Totally agree on the lack of wow for the new coconut flavor. The orange and ginger is really good though!
Angela @ Happy Fit Mama says
That happened with us at the first block party we attended when we moved into our new house. Almost all of our neighbors are “adult like” so we thought we’d make an appearance and be home within a 1/2 hour. They were so cool! For being “adults” they can party harder than any college kids! Needless to say we stayed longer than a 1/2 hour and had so much fun.
Maria @ Sinfully Nutritious says
I wish I could find a soy yogurt Greek style. I have to add vanilla soy protein powder to plain soy yogurt to get it thick and rich. I guess I should try straining it overnight. I do not like thin running yogurt.
Sarah@The Flying ONION says
How disappointing on the Siggi’s! They could have made coconut amazing.
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
I just started Hunger Games and it’s great so far! Love the first photo…it’s so cool when you get movement in a photo like that.
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
That’s too bad, normally Siggi’s is great! I love their blueberry!
Maggie @ say yes to salad says
I don’t like siggi’s regular Greek yogurt either. Haven’t tried this one. I don’t know why they are so popular!
Chris says
I LOVE dance parties!! But more urgently, what are you cooking up for football food today? Bite-sized, tapas-like meals are my favorite!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
I tried Siggi’s once (b/c the price tag usually deters me) and wasn’t impressed at all either. I had high hopes too!
Paula says
You can make your own yogurt with just a crockpot, a small container of plain yogurt with active cultures, a half gallon milk( best to use 2% or whole) and an instant read thermometer. It makes great yogurt and you know exactly what is in it. Then you can sweeten, flavor, fruit and crunch to your hearts content. Oh and it’s about half the price of the big tub of plain yogurt in Walmart so I have no idea how much I save when comparing it to specialty brands. You can drain it and make Greek style too.

Neighbourhood parties are the best! Fun to get to know your neighbours…great sense of community!
Stacy @ Say It With Sprinkles says
I have yet to find a really great coconut (or really great non-dairy yogurt, for that matter!!) yogurt – maybe my expectations are too high, but I love a good, thick yogurt and I can’t tolerate the dairy stuff! I guess I’ll have to keep looking!
Angel7 says
I like the first pic. 🙂 It looks like that was a rockin’ party! Fun times on a Saturday eve!
