Good morning 🙂
Today seemed like a good day for yoga – I was craving the feeling of a yoga stretch and did 20 minutes of Hip Opening Flow.
It was also a good day for a smoothie! But I decided I wanted to do more than just liquid, so I made this soup –
First I blended together 1 large banana, 1/2 a cup milk, 1/2 tsp chia seeds and a handful of ice. Then I added half a cup of Oikos (it sunk to the bottom – I had imaged pouring the smoothie overtop of the yogurt, but I had way too much smoothie!), half a cup of blueberries, 1/4 cup AgavePlus granola and a drizzle of Hazelnut butter!
VeggieGirl sent me this nut butter a while ago and I made an effort to use up a lot of the others we have in the house before opening a new jar. I’m not sure how I feel about the flavor. It wasn’t as hazelnutty as the coffee flavor smell is, and it had a bit of an earthy taste, but overall, you can’t’ go wrong with ANY nut butter!
I used Polly’s PB stirrer to mix!
I liked digging down to find yogurt and berries! And granola on top of a smoothie is just fabulous.

I forgot to mention that I went for a 4 mile run before work yesterday!! I realized it when I was driving there and was thinking about how to summarize the run – and I realized I’d already blogged!!!

Sorry about the hazelnut butter – I should have sent you their Almond Haze, which combines almonds and hazelnuts. THAT one has maaaaaaajor flavor.

I have to ask, is it more fun eating it as soup or thru a straw? Haha. Enjoy your day!

That’s so funny, I just thought today about how I wanted a smoothie but more in a “bowl” like form 🙂 Thanks for the idea!

That peanut butter stirrer is genius! Stirring natural nut butters it the messiest process ever! Your breakfast looks delicious though, and yay for a yoga morning! 🙂
Lori says
I really like hazelnut butter. I made my own, so not sure how that is different from a brand, but it was toasty and delicious!
And yummy idea for the smoothie with granola! I like smoothies, but love to have chewable food, so the granola is a great idea.

What a yummy breakfast soup! Perfect for a summer day!

I thought of you when I stopped at Great Harvest (here in Atlanta) for the first time yesterday! Soon, you & Matt will have your names on the bread bags. 🙂 I went in to get the peach cobbler swirl bread but it was sold out. I got a kahuna bar and it was SO good!

Looks like a perfect summer breakfast! Have you ever tried protein powder? I just bought some but am torn about whether it’s necessary… I don’t weight train, don’t do heavy work-outs and eat enough fish/poultry to meet necessary requirements but my protein keeps me more satisfied than any other food group so am trying to incoroprate higher protein oats!

I feel the same way about the hazelnut butter. I bought some the other day expecting to love it (because I LOVE hazelnut coffee), but it was the first nut butter that I wasn’t crazy about……never thought that would happen……ever!
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
Soup for breakfast looks delicious! 😀 And it looks like it came out nice and thick too! I was attempting to add granola on top of my smoothie/soup one time and it sunk right to the bottom…
Will have to give it another try with your lovely concoction, for sure… 😀
Happy Hump Day!

I just wanted to pop in and pay homage to you and oatmeal. A couple of months ago, your blog inspired me to try new oatmeal, starting with the whipped banana oats. Then, I moved on a bit…got a Blendtec for my birthday, so was hitting the smoothies pretty hard. Got Vegan Brunch for my birthday, made some muffins.
But today…bread is gone, no muffins, and not quite enough fruit left to use in a smoothie, so I went for the whipped banana oats again.
Oh. My. God. They were so good, an hour later I am still on cloud nine. I added a little 7-grain cereal to the mix and a tsp of sunflower butter. They were divine!
Thank you for getting me back into oatmeal…

Stacey ,
Soup because it takes longer!
ellie ,
I am not a fan of food in the form of powders! I’ll eat them if they’re given to me, but I won’t buy them. Per ounce, they are so expensive, and you’re right that you probably get enough protein, as Americans eat so much. For satiety though, that’s your call.
Marcia ,
Yay!
