One really great reason to get up at 5:30 in the morning: A full body massage at Charlotte’s best yoga studio!
In preparation for our long run this weekend, Emily and I met for the 6:30 hot vinyasa class at Y2Yoga with Tanner!! Class was great. Love any yoga class that includes both DJ Earworm and Falling Slowly!! I left feeling like all of my kinks were worked out.
We made our way back to my house for huuuuuge bowls of oats!!!
Pumpkin Chia Banana Coconut!
Pac Man loves bubbles. Especially when they are caramel flavored by Spring Blend!
Sportin’ my springtime bowl – it’s from Homegoods (’cause I know you’ll ask 😉 )
I’n going on a FIELD TRIP today!! Up to the nutrition research campus in Kannapolis. So I had a bit more time this morning before I left. Wheee!
Crazy Bag Lady
The Open Sky team is constantly working with vendors to try to get deals for shopkeepers and their readers. I’m excited about this one because this is the perfect example of a product that I wouldn’t have ever known about if it hadn’t been brought to my inbox by the Open Sky sourcing team:
I am often in ‘crazy bag lady’ mode: gym bag, DSLR camera bag, purse, lunch box, work bag and this tote box is such a lifesaver! It keeps my water bottle upright, my camera from being smooshed, and note that loaf of bread not shifting to the bottle of a bag 😉 The strap is the best part though – half box, half bag. [And it’s machine washable!]
Envitote has offered to give away 52 of their Envisack produce bags (a $300 value) with the purchase of the canvas tote box this weekend. They look like this:
Great for being GREEN at the grocery store! I’ve got a couple of canvas bags that I use and have been meaning to stock up on a few more.
So the Envitote is $20 – plus the two free bags. There are 26 of them available (heh heh – I did pick the number!)
Good times!
[Excited that we had internet this AM! Hope it holds up!]
Freya @ Brit Chick Runs says
I’m very jealous that your gym opens so early – my nearest one doesn’t open til about 8am, let alone hold classes before then!
I’m equally jealous of your oats, they look like a work of art 🙂
Have a good field trip!
shannon (the daily balance) says
glad to see your internet is up and running! YAY to an early start! I wish I could say I did the same this morning, but my body needed rest in a bad way — hoping I get in a workout after work (although it’s always harder on Fridays!)
have a great afternoon!!
The Paris Food Blague says

The most annoying thing about living in NYC? Not having a car to stash stuff!! I always feel like a crazy bag lady. Today I had 3 bags – purse, gym bag, and lunch bag. I’m often away from my apt for 13-14 hours at a time. I think I need to buy an envitote 🙂
Krystina says
Your breakfast table looks divine.
Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin says
Your oatmeal always looks better than mine! Is that coconut butter AND coconut flakes on there??
Kath says
Yes!!
I totally forgot to do the “In The Mix” part!!!
Abby says
I think a massage is the only thing that could get me up at 5:30. Although that would also be pretty difficult!
Ameena says
What a great bag for the car…I usually have 10 things falling around my trunk so this is a great idea.
A Life Less Complicated says
Love your cherry blossom bowl! So pretty 🙂
I’m also thinking it’s time for me to try coconut butter! Every time I see it on your blog, I drool!

I just ordered the bag – what a great looking bag! Looking foward to recieving it.
Tracy says
I’ve wanted to order that bag since the first time you showed it. It was worth the wait….now I get the produce bags, too! Thanks for the special, Kath and Open Sky!
Ashley says
I’m tempted to order that bag, but I still haven’t received half of my naturally nutty order so it makes me nervous that it won’t make it here….am I the only one who had trouble with the naturally nutty? I ordered two different two packs (cinnamon vanilla and dark cherry chocolate), and only recieved the cinnamon vanilla last week (long time!), and haven’t gotten the other set….maybe it’s my evil UPS man….I’m convinced he stole my ATT modem anyway, lol…
Tana Collins says
Ashley, as the owner of Envicorp I can promise that your order WILL BE SHIPPED PROMPTLY! We ship all orders the same day. Get yours today – this is a great deal!
Kath says
So sorry to hear that. If you call the Open Sky customer service number they should be able to help you out. The whole mix up with the sunflower seeds shouldn’t happen again!
Ashley says
Thanks guys! Much appreciated 🙂
Karen says
I couldn’t agree more, Kath…I ordered this bag when you introduced it, and was so pleased with the design and construction when it arrived, I ordered a second one immediately. It’s such a practical, terrific-looking tote – perfect for trips to the farmer’s market (or even picnic-ing) this summer!
Heather says
love the tote, it looks very handy! I hate how my water bottle nevers stands up in my bag right!
Andrea says
Delicious oats, and gorgeous bowl! Have a great day, Kath! I love the bag and will have to check it out!
La says

I’m super excited to report that I made my first “Kath” oatmeal last night. I’m calling it that because I added cottage cheese and peanut butter… two things I’ve never done before. It was delicious!!! Thanks so much for the great idea… I think it’ll become a staple dish. Hope you have fun on your field trip today!
Kath says
🙂

Nice! Finally some internet. That meal looks so colorful and appetizing and you really know how to stay organized with that bag. Hope you have a good time and the network is still available when you return 🙂
Sarah @ LongLegsHealthyLife says
woo woo! I bought one of the bag combos! I’ve had a good week for online shopping, I wanted to buy some books, and then I got a coupon in my email for books, I was looking at your OpenSky store thinking about buying the envitote, and today you have a bonus! What a great Friday! Glad your internet is working for you today, I hope it gets fixed for good soon!
Kacy says
That bag is a great idea!
Michele | aka Raw Juice Girl says
Oats look delish, as always! 😀
Love reusable bags!!!
Lu says
I bought the EnviTote. I was sold by the time you said it was half box, half bag. Where has this been all of my life. I usually carry a bunch of stuff with me everywhere I go in a canvas box with no handles. It is better than using plastic bags, but this item is the answer to my needs. Amazing.
Lee says
Aww, Falling Slowly is going to be our first dance song when we get married in June.
Emily @ The Front Burner Blog says
Such a fun morning – yoga and an oatmeal date! 🙂 That bowl kept me full allllll morning!

i was gonna ask about the bowl – it’s so pretty!
jessica says
Hi Kath! I just bought some chia seeds in a bulk bin at the health food store and I’m wondering if you know the calorie content for a tablespoon? Also, at which point in the process of making your oatmeal do you add in the chia seeds?
Kath says
I think they are 35 a tbsp – check Nutrition Data.com?
I put them in in the beginning!
jessica says
Thank you!
Maureen says
What a cool bag! I think I need one.
Good luck with the long run this weekend.
I was wondering, do you have a training plan that you are following for the 1/2?
Is it something that you could post?
Kath says
Here’s the plan in Google Docs:
