Who needs a nap when you can energize with
VEGETABLES!!A handful of us healthy living bloggers took a break to go on a power walk and drink some veggie juice
I could not wait to get a juice. I was totally craving all things green.
I ordered Spinach, Celery, Carrot but I think I was served Kale, Apple, Carrot – I saw him putting apple into the juicer? It was OK though because it tasted amazing!!
The top layer was foamy and the denser juice was on the bottom. It was like a veggie cappuccino and I was in love!
Goooo nutrients!
Our power walk continued into Central Park
It was such a gorgeous day!
We departed for a quick glam session and then headed back out to dinner
Larbs, Me, Sabrina, Bekah, Camille, Emily, Tina with Jess and Ashley in the front
Girlz!
Our dining spot was Eatery
And we were all impressed
Round ‘O drinks included a Manhattan for me!! Gotta have one every time I’m here. This guy was extra sweet – almost too much so – but I loved it.
Mom and Larbs got apricot beers
On the table we munched on Sesame Rice crisps – they were good!
For dinner I got a Tofu Stir Fry – with kobocha squash, shitake mushrooms, spinach, snow peas and forbidden rice in a curry sauce. EX. CELL. ENT. I managed to eat most of it – tasted so fresh and flavorful.
Sabrina got a gorgeous chicken caesar salad – pretty enough for a photo
And I plate full of sweet potato fries to share 🙂 I had a handful
And Mom and Larbs got a shrimp roll up of sorts that was heavenly
Look who made an appearance!! Tina‘s Mal 🙂 Posing as my mom in badge form!
We all headed back to the hotel to check out some of the parties going on. One big one was all sparkles and neon lights
Complete with a unicorn cake!
From Charm City
I grabbed a slice but was kind of disappointed 🙁 Crisco icing is so not my cup of tea. Fun cake in general though!
Our group was excited to run into some of the big foodies – Simply Recipes, Steamy Kitchen, Savor The Thyme and The Pioneer Woman herself!
The best part of blogging is most definitely meeting people in real life 🙂
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
What a fun night!! Makes me wish I was there!
Nancy @ The Wife of a Dairyman says
What a fun opportunity to meet everyone in person! I’m sure everyone is so welcoming and supportive too:) Thanks for keeping the rest of us updated!
Fit Chick in the City says
It was so much fun hanging out with everyone tonight!
Maria @ Oh Healthy Day says
Loved the unicorn cake and the Ace of Cakes Show. Was actually considering using them for my wedding (if I happened to inherit a lump sum of money), but Crisco icing would turn me off too. Yikes. Thanks for sharing the pics though – I feel like I’m there 🙂
Nikki says
I love your black and white dress. So cute!
Amy @ Amy Starts to Run says
Love love love your dress! Looks like you all had such a great time!
Camille says
Ahh, a Charm City cake! Too cool!
Bekah says
So nice meeting you Kath! Glad I introduced myself- otherwise I would have had quite the uneventful night… I probably wouldn’t even have made it Sparklecorn.. ahem. 🙂 Good luck with HLS next weekend!
Kath says
So sorry for spelling your name wrong!! 🙂
Jackie (Peaces of Earth) says
Foodie/blogger heaven right there!!!

Cynthia (It All Changes) says
Meeting other bloggers have definitely been some of the highlights of my blogging “career.”

Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
What a fun day! I love NY! The whole trip seems so great. Have a great eveinging!
Brittany (a healthy slice of life) says
What is the biggest difference you’ve noticed between people in real life vs their blog lives?
Kath says
Oh gosh, I don’t know! i think everyone looks a little different in real life because they are shorter/taller than you imagined, their face looks different in 3D, etc. So maybe there are some physical notices (like accents). But personality wise, everyone is ALWAYS nicer in person!! Not that they’re mean on their blogs, but the whole blog world is just really nice.
Rianne says
Hey Kath! Long time reader, first time commenter. 🙂 Thank you for creating such a wonderful blog, it’s always a pleasure to try your yummy food recommendations and read about your daily endeavors.
I was wondering what the name of the juice shop is. I’m moving to NYC in a few months and am a fresh juice fanatic.
PS – I love the orange nails!
Kath says
I think it was 1 Minute or Minute something! One Minute sounds right..
Diana @ frontyardfoodie says
Jealous! I feel like a group of my friends are hanging out together and I’m not there! I want to meet everyone! Maybe next time. This baby coming is worth it I suppose. hehe
Paige @Running Around Normal says
What a fun day! A power walk through Central Park sounds fantastic.
Hannah says
You’re so right about the best part of blogging! Just this week I had dinner with one of Sydney’s top food bloggers – she’s been going for 6 years and is somewhat royalty. I love the community around blogging 🙂 (And I like being able to see yummy food like this when I’m a bit hungover and can’t stomach it myself 😉 )
Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter says
I started doing a cake decorating class, the the icing is straight crisco and powdered sugar, but it sure is a beautiful cake!
Mastering Public Health (@MasPublicHealth) says
Just reviewing your posts from Friday and Saturday and this looks like a blast. I especially enjoyed your creative oatmeal-on-a-plate concoction at breakfast. Hotel/event breakfast buffets are the best (unless they’re majorly skimpy): finding the healthiest stuff is always a fun challenge, and you can’t beat the “rebellious” feeling of slipping a few portable goodies for later. 😉
Stacey says
Ah, I ate at Eatery when I was in NY a few months ago and had the same thing! It was SO GOOD! I wasn’t expecting it to be so spicy (or maybe I’m just really sensitive to “spice”) but I just loved all the flavor. I also really loved those sesame crisps.
Chelsea says
Isn’t The Pioneer Woman fabulous?
Sounds like all y’all are having a wonderful time! I might need to go next year, despite my lack o’ blog.
I’m curious how your sister is enjoying it, since she’s not really a blogger, right? How does someone who’s outside the community find fitting in?
Kath says
She fits right in! Everyone who reads KERF knows her and my friends are pretty much her friends. Mom and Sis had a great time with the swag and food. They were probably a bit more bored in sessions, but that’s why they went shopping on Sat afternoon 🙂
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
love that unicorn cake! not a fan of crisco either
Ashley says
Love that first photo of you! Ya know, I always wondered if their cakes were actually good…I would have guessed, not really. 🙂
Suzanne says
That’s so awesome that the cake was done by Charm City Cakes. I love that show and Duff. It looks like such a fun place to work, and their cakes are hands-down the best (best-looking that is – I’ve never tasted one).
And I’ve been to Eatery and enjoyed it as well. Glad you had a great time! 🙂
Freya @ Brit Chick Runs says
Good gosh, when I grow up, I want a unicorn cake at my birthday!!! WOW!
Love that meal – kabocha squash in a restaurant?? That’s pretty amzing!
Pat Kilmain says
Ha! My two favorite bloggers in one photo!! Sounds – and looks – like you’re having an amazing time!
Wei-Wei says
Wow. WOW. Meeting Pioneer Woman and Steamy Kitchen? You guys are so LUCKY! I love blogger “celebrities” 😀 (Do I even need those quotation marks?!)

Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
Awww…what fun! From veggie juice to glamming it up to meeting all kinds of lovely bloggers. What a blast. 😀
Whitney @ Whitinspired says
Bummed to hear that the Charm City cake wasn’t very good! I kind of figured though, they seem to compromise taste for looks on the show.
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
Yet another awesome day!! I’ve never bought a green juice, but there’s definitely plenty in NYC- I should give it a go! Hope you enjoy your last day!
Chelsey says
What a great night! That restaurant looks so good!

Artemis @ t.a.p.e.s.t.r.y says
A Charm City Cake – wow! If you got to meet Geoff I will be ever-envious 🙂
Did you & the fam like the apricot beer? Actually, yesterday my friends and I were drinking my favorite apricot beer by Pyramid Brewery. It’s a local CA brewery, but maybe you’ve seen it? If so, you & Matt should try their Audacious Apricot!
Kath says
Yeah, it was great but it was also $7!! YIKES! DIdn’t know that when they ordered
jane says
i just moved out of nyc. sadly $7 for a beer really is not expensive there…hence why i left ;-)!!
Amy says
The unicorn cake is absolutely beautiful! Amazing.
Lele says
My aunt and uncle were on Ace of Cakes and I thought charm city cakes were not very good either! But mine appeared to have real butter in the icing- but only real butter. It was buttercreme minus the creme!
Moi says
Did you get the recipe for the veggie cappuccino? Or could you replicate it at home?
Ash Bear says
Your pictures turned out so well! I love the one of me and Sabrina and our Starbrite picture! Hope you don’t mind that I used them on my post too!
Stacey@http://stacey-healthylife.blogspot.com/ says
Crisco icing, that’s GROSS.
Jennifer(Savor) says
It was a great honor and highlight for me to finally meet you kath AND Congrats on the RD exam!
