Hand or foot!?
That’s a thumb/wrist being iced inside a big warm sock : ) Thumb still hurts. Icing HURTS. But I think it helped – at least temporarily.
It was HOT on the porch this afternoon and I loved it! Sweated in my chair : ) People keep telling me “ohhhh you’re due in August – good luck with that heat” but I’m not worried at all. I don’t plan to do any sports at noon in the high sun, and I’m sure by August we’ll be using our air conditioning, but I just love warm weather sooooo much I vowed years ago to never complain about heat and I rarely do. Cold and rain on the other hand…
Snacks this afternoon came directly from the package. I wasn’t too hungry and had just a few handfuls before dinner was ready.
Karen brought over the most delicious chicken + mushroom marsala pasta! She used this Giada recipe plus fresh Mona Lisa pasta!
We grilled up a bunch of veggies on the side. Summatime!
This dish was incredible!
The sauce wasn’t too rich and the marsala taste just right! Loved the shrooms and chicken bits.
Veggies were grilled in EVOO, smoked paprika and salt
After something that rich, sometimes you just need to end with something simple..
Get LOST!

Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
That dinner looks amazing! And when you talk about being due in the summer I think of Father of the Bride 2 when the mom and daughter were both almost full term and they had the AC on so high everyone else was wearing coats! haha
Kelly @ Vegolosophy says
Looked like a yummy dinner!!

I had an August baby…in TX…be glad you don’t have our scorching summers!! 🙂
Jennifer says
It will be nice to have a summer baby. You have so many cute outfits to use and don’t have to worry about bundling them up so much. What day are you due in August?
Hope your thumb feels better.
KathEats says
31 st!
jane says
that’s my birthday!! A great day to be born if you ask me! 🙂 I have always LOVED my birthady
Kellie says
When you use smoked paprika, do you use the sweet kind or the hot kind? I picked up some sweet smoked paprika and am not sure this is what I thought I was going for… 🙂
KathEats says
I actually don’t know… But I think sweet?
Sarah says
what gorgeous photos.
Jen says
Looks like a summer meal! Gah, I think I’m going to have to watch Lost soon…
Emm says
You know, my carpal tunnel got worse during my first pregnancy (and post-partum with all of the patting, rocking, etc.) It might be worth checking out with a doctor for preventative measures for your hand.
Donna says
Did I miss something? What happened to your thumb?
KathEats says
It has a tendonitis-like problem (I say like because I don’t know what’s wrong) that comes and goes – I think from too much typing
Catalina @ Cake with Love says
I cant believe that you are due in August, thats only a few months away, time flies, I am sure you will be ok, and heat won’t bother you at all! I love all that pile of veggies, looks very delicious and nutritious!
marie says
Today in Ontario it was almost 80 F and so humid. Ugh. I really hate the heat and have never been so lucky to have air conditioning which means that you never get relief from the heat. I think it wouldn’t be so bad if during the summer I can at least sleep well, but it’s so hard to face the heat when you were sweating and tossing all night.
Katie @ Creature of Habit says
The best cereal snacks come straight from the box! Most days I’d rather eat it by the handful than covered in milk.
~Christy @ wonderofallthings says
Of all things, it’s the popsicle that grabbed my attention. LOVE them, but only during the summer. Sounds like you had the perfect day for it today. What kind do you get? Enjoy your night!
KathEats says
Edys whole fruit… mmmm
~Christy @ wonderofallthings says
I thought it had to be 🙂 but thought if there was another great brand out there, I needed to know!! Thanks!
Natasha says
So silly that people tell you that about delivering in August. People always have something negative to say. I delivered in July in Texas heat and it was my easiest pregnancy and delivery out of 3. The hardest was my October baby who arrived in flu season. Don’t let people scare you. I think summer babies are wonderful!
Annette @FitnessPerks says
Ooooh that looks like an awesome dinner! I LOVE popsicles–gotta get some for the hot weather season 🙂
Heidi Bundles Of Hugs says
Wow that dinner looks fab! Recipe?
KathEats says
I linked to it in the post
Lindsay says
That recipe looks oh so scrumptious! And I understand the need for heat. The SUN has finally started beaming down on the city of seoul, the cherry trees are opening up and I LOVE to sweat it out in the sunshine (sunblock applied to my porcelin skin of course!) of our tiny porch. Cheers to great weather and great meals with friends!!
Becky says
Love LOST! Are you a Jack or Sawyer fan?
KathEats says
Jack all the way (he reminds me of Matt at times!) but I went through a big Sawyer phase 🙂

Mmmm I need to buy some popsicles..and a grill…and a sweet sweet mother-in-law!

Hey Kath, I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this to you, but carpal tunnel syndrome and similar ailments are actually pretty common during pregnancy: http://www.lilsugar.com/Why-Didnt-Anybody-Tell-Me-Pregnancy-Carpal-Tunnel-5593207.
If you haven’t had problems with it before despite having been a blogger for years now, I’m willing to bet it will disappear very soon after your little guy is born!
(Also, for future reference, if you find the base of your thumb to be extremely painful a few months after he’s born, google De Quervain’s, or new mom thumb/hand. I got this several months after my son was born and ended up needing a cortisone shot. Fortunately, that totally fixed it.)
j3nn says
I’m the exact opposite! I’ll always, ALWAYS complain about it being too hot because I can’t stand it, lol. It was in the 80s here today and longed for the frigid nights just days ago. It’s too soon to be this hot in NY!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Popsicle looks good! I should buy some to keep on hand! Definitely probably a better alternative to my craving for ice cream in the heat…
Khushboo Thadani says
I was a summertime baby and I love it..so much nicer to celebrate your birthday when the weather outside is nice!
Morgan says
I make this exact recipe for family all the time! Is there mascarpone and Dijon in the sauce?! It’s sooo good!

Hahah oh my gosh, when I was first scrolling down on that popsicle image I thought it was your finger dipped in sugar. I was like “wow…that certainly is simple!”
Hillary says
I’m the same way with weather. I hate (and complain so much about) the cold that when it’s really, really hot, I soak it up (and do my best to keep complaining to a minimum!)
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
I just love Giada’s Everyday Italian cookbook! All her recipes are delish! Your chicken dish with roasted veggies looks amazing! Hope the thumb feels better!

I’m so late, but dinner looks wonderful! Makes it feel like putting on Fresh Prince Summa Summa Summatime! Fresh grilled veggies is a must always in the summer.
And becareful with the thumb/wrist. I have carpal tunnel in both hands and had surgery on both. Cute sock though.
jojo says
oh no, I hate injuries… I hope it gets better!
I’ve had my wrists injury from holding the baby in awkward positions too much (also called new moms syndrome, De Quervain syndrome) for 8 months now.. it’s more common than known, be careful!!!
April says
Kath, I get a similar issue occassionally with by wrist. I recently started going to a chiropractor that specializes in “active release technique.” My BF and I have seem amazing results with all sorts of back, neck, wrist ailments. You might want to check it out ….. http://www.activerelease.com/
