Good morning! Would you like a warm bowl of Scottish oats filled with banana and pumpkin? I do. And I just ate one!
Pumpkin had no trouble being on its best behavior this morning!
This was incredible. Scottish oats are made by blending steel cut oats in a food processor to increase the surface area, reduce the cooking time and increase the creamy porridge. Topped with some Cville Cluster granola bar, coconut and chia charger, which I just discovered is a blend of peanut and almond butters (=why it tastes so good) and there are also swirls of CHOCOLATE in there! (Vegan chocolate, FYI). Delicious seedy crunchy flavor.
Gingerbread tea, filled with foam. Good enough to eat with a spoon after drinking the last drop!
Our house is all drills and bangs this morning. Our porch electrician (who is putting in a ceiling fan and a few sconces) agreed to step inside for two smaller projects: a much-needed exhaust fan in our bathroom and…moving the dining room light! Very convenient to have him be able to do both. Our porch is looking incredible – the siding boards are going up and trim installed and we have STEPS! As soon as the sun is out I’ll share some photos.
So hurry up sun!

Mmm I’m so inspired by all your delicious sweetly flavored teas!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
I love my Scottish oats, but had no idea how they were made. Interesting! I’m about to roast a giant pumpkin… these may make an appearance in the breakfast tomorrow morning. 🙂
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
I love the sound of the teas you’ve been drinking lately. I definitely can’t do without my coffee, but have loved teas (particularly black teas), since I used to live in England. I think I will be placing an Adagio order soon…

Zoe @ loseweightandgainhealth says
Woo Hoo – moving the dining room light 🙂 . It is always worth asking how much to change something so that annoys us.
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
Purple is my favorite! I love the color of that bowl 🙂 That tea sounds lovely!
Jennie says
This might be a silly question but how do you make your tea foamy? Are you just warming milk and adding it to the tea? Do you warm it on the stove? Microwave? I don’t drink coffee and your tea looks delicious. 🙂
KathEats says
I have a hand-held frother from IKEA!
Jennie says
Okay thanks. I’ll need to get one!
Erin @ Big Girl Feats says
I was going to ask the same question! IKEA is probably much cheaper than the fancy chef stores/kitchen stores I’ve seen them in. Thanks Kath!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I love pumpkin in oats—SO good. Good choice 🙂
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
Oooh, looks delicious – I need to remember to break out the chocolate chips for my oatmeal soon. I used to enjoy a bowl of Cocoa Wheats every now and then, but I discovered that I could easily add a chocolate twist to my oatmeal for a healthier, yet still decadent and chocolatey, breakfast 🙂
Carolyn says
Whay do you use to foam your milk? Your tea always looks delicious.
New reader btw. Hi there.
Be well,
Carolyn

This IKEA frother: https://www.katheats.com/the-cost-of-froth
It’s great!
Susan H. @ the food allergy chronicles says
Your lavender breakfast look is so French Country…once your porch is complete (with sun) you can imagine yourself overlooking the french countryside…imagine!
Katie says
Question- I just realized that these Adagio teas are loose leaf- what’s your preferred brew method? Do you have one of those little metal tea baskets? Would love to know what you do to make yummy teas from loose leaf! Thanks 🙂
KathEats says
I started by buying their teas in teabags (a lot of them do have that option) but then they actually send me the IngenuiTEA brewer and I LOVE it: https://www.katheats.com/bread-water
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
i picked up some scottish oats at trader joe’s yesterday.. have yet to try them, but your breakfast looks delicious!! so exciting the porch is almost finished.
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
At first when I saw the word ‘sconces’ I thought it was scones – LOL! Can’t wait to see the porch progress!
Lynn @ the actor's diet says
Gingerbread tea!!! In such a holiday mood already
Khushboo says
Do you add milk to these flavored teas? love the froth!
KathEats says
Yeah that’s what the froth is!
Amanda says
I can’t wait to see the latest progress on your porch. I’m living vicariously through you since I live in the city and don’t have outdoor space. 🙂
Breakfast looks great! I’m currently enjoying a pumpkin spice smoothie (added in a little TJ’s pumpkin butter) with some crushed graham crackers and walnuts on top. It’s so good!
Cait's Plate says
I’m SO in love with that purple bowl.
And I’m loving your foamy, frothy teas. I need to do this more often, I feel like it could be the perfect accompaniment to my afternoon snack.
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
That is the perfect cold morning breakfast!! How do you get your teas foamy, though??
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
I read that quick and thought you said the electrician was hanging “scones”…haha I think I read too many food blogs!
Roxanne says
I think a buttermilk scone would look great in the hallway don’t you think LOL
I am so glad you fessed up, cause I “read” the same thing!
Molly says
Me too!
lauren @ spiced plate says
I, too, am loving that froth! When I used to work in a coffee shop I’d make the foamiest milk I could conjure up (a feat with almond milk) and it would be so lusciously comforting.
I love adding pumpkin to things — recently I added some to refried beans and it was delightful. Your breakfast looks amazing!
Hilliary @ Happily Ever Healthy says
I had a warm bowl of pumpkin oatmeal this morning with dried cherries, delicious! Pumpkin oats are always a good choice, espicially on cold Minnesota mornings. It was 13 degrees this morning!
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
Love scottish oats! They are my favorite 🙂
Angel7 says
Looks delicious, Kath!
Can’t wait to see pictures of your porch! I bet you both cannot wait to utilize your new porch!

Irina says
beautiful looking breakfast. Makes me hungry. Even though I am very full from my lunch!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
How finely ground are the scottish oats? I’ve ground steel cut oats before but the outcome has been more like cream of wheat than oatmeal.
KathEats says
They are the texture of grits
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
I’m glad your pumpkin worked better today, and I am so jealous! I was in the mood for pumpkin oats this morning but realized I had run out! Banana for me…
Melody (Redhead in the Kitchen) says
I keep hearing so many good things about the chia charger stuff. Gotta get some! Especially now that I know it has vegan chocolate in it. Whoa.
Lena @Fit on the Rocks says
I’m glad the pumpkin finally worked out for you! Can’t wait to see the finished project 🙂
SkinnyRunner says
we dont have fans in any of our bathrooms and i swear, its like swamp monster in there. gross.
KathEats says
I never associated bathroom cleanliness with fans, but it’s so true.
Roxanne says
I have a window to open so our “swamp monster” goes out the window! (It’s cold in the winter though)
Elisabeth says
Definitely can’t live without my exhaust fan! I couldn’t even get dry without one…
Mac says
How do you make that perfect foam on your tea!?!
KathEats says
See a few comments up – a frother
sonya says
You already have a link dedicated to your oatmeal. Maybe you need a dedicated link to tea!
KathEats says
I think so!
Tami@Nutmeg Notebook says
Pumpkin is so versatile and filling I love adding it to my morning oats with a good sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice too!
Julia H. @ The Petite Spiel says
LOOKS SO GOOD. Now I’m excited to make myself oatmeal every day when I go home for Thanksgiving break next week. Nice to have easy access to a clean kitchen!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
It’s always a good day when pumpkin behaves! 😉 Can’t wait to see more pictures of the progress. So exciting!
Health Bee says
The gingerbread tea sounds delicious!
Marie@feedingfive says
I was catching up on last nights post. I cannot even count the times I have eaten food off the floor, it doesn’t even phase me. Throwing all that delicious cauliflower away would have made you sicker than any of the germs.
Way to put those guys to work. So handy.
Christine @ Oatmeal in my Bowl says
I love when the servicemen are willing to do a few more tasks. When I had the plumber over for one job, I ended up having him close out another couple tasks on my list. 😉
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
Scottish oats? You learn something new every day!
I loooove the purple glaze on that bowl. My potter friends would be all over it. 🙂
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
how funny! xD I had almost the same exact bowl of oats this morning, and I thought to myself, “i wonder if Kath will have something like this today…nahhhh” haha. I still haven’t tried Scottish oats, but it sounds heavenly!
katie @KatieDid says
Very excited to see updates on the porch I’m sure it’s looking so gorgeous. Only a few months until the sun pops back out and its warm enough to use! 😉
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
So cool…I love porches…they are the best!
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Glad these were a hit…much better than yesterday’s pumpkin fiasco with the frozen pumpkin.
Emily says
Just read this and thought you may have some input… http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/16/pizza-vegetable-school-lunches-lobbyists_n_1098029.html
And that breakfast looks delish!!
KathEats says
I think this is absolutely awful news.
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
Is the consistency of Scottish oats like oat bran? Or are they chunkier?
KathEats says
Actually pretty similar
Stacy @ Say it with Sprinkles says
Those pumpkin oats look super delish!
~Christy @ wonderofallthings says
Just curious…was this frozen pumpkin or new stuff?
KathEats says
Frozen – it works great in oats
~Christy @ wonderofallthings says
good to know! Thanks 🙂
