There are many titles I could have used for this post..
“Baby it’s cold outside”
“Frosty the Snowwoman”
“It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas”
but I didn’t want to freak any of you out!
Instead, we’ll sing about red and orange leaves!
Why was I so cold? Cause I was out running!! So proud of myself when I do that. Running first thing is never easy. Even when you get to eat dried mango and hunks of bread beforehand. It’s cold folks. I could see my breath with every puff. My gloves were just right. My fleece was zipped all the way up. And the heat has been on and off all night.
I’m a hurry – gotta leave before 9 to get to Hillsborough in time for lunch with mom! DOH it’s already after 9!!!!!
Quick no-cook, no-dish breakfast of 1 cup of Kefir, 1 big banana, Cville Cluster, some flax flakes I got from the Whole Foods sale, chia seeds, sunbutter …and leaves!
Vanilla tea warmed up my core
Have a wonderful day!!!!
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says
Have a safe drive, Kath!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
“Baby Its Cold Outside” is my FAVORITE winter song. Which is good because its now stuck in my head. 🙂
Way to go with the run! I’m such a wuss when it comes to cold.
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Flax flakes have nice ring to them – love the sprinkles! Thanks for laying off the Christmas phrases… maybe one more week? 😉
Katie @ Raisins&Apples says
I’m meeting up with my parents this afternoon—so much to get done before then! I’m hoping to find some fall sprinkles for myself today.
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
Good for you to get in your run early and in the COLD nonetheless! When it’s that cold and early, I don’t even try, so I’m impressed with your accomplishment. 😉
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
I could’ve handled the first 2 title options but not the one that references Christmas! haha
Have a nice lunch with your mom!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I love when Blaine and Kurt sang “Baby it’s Cold Outside” on last season’s Glee. Have a safe drive!
Cait's Plate says
I have those same leaf sprinkles! I don’t understand the purple ones so much.
And I ALSO thought to myself “I haven’t had a bowl of cold cereal in a long time. I should really have one” (but then we were out of Quaker Oatmeal Squares so that plan got foiled).
Your post today and my post yesterday morning were so similar it’s freaky freekeh 😉 – I talked about going for a morning run (I also feel so proud of myself when I do that!), how it was cold and then how I went in to eat a cold breakfast despite all that! Haha.
Have a wonderful (WARM) day!
khushboo says
after the first few steps, I laugh running in the cold- so refreshing!
~Christy @ wonderofallthings says

Emily says
Fall sprinkles make everything better! Have a wonderful lunch with your mom!
I have a question: what kind of Kefir do you use? I’ve never seen “plain” kefir at the store!
KathEats says
I don’t remember the name of the brand, but there are tons of plain options. I also love Organic Valley’s plain drinkable yogurt
Marie@feedingfive says
Doesn’t freak me out at all. I told my husband that the day after Halloween was when I could start playing Christmas music. I have yet to do it, but it isn’t far off.
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Your breakfast looks so cute with the leaves! I love it.
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says

Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Usually Christmas music and decorations would freak me out already but I was walking through Target on Tuesday and all of the Christmas stuff made me feel all festive and excited for the holidays already. So bring it on! 🙂

Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
Nice little quote on that “placemat”- and I like the positioning of it too, in the photo.
It’s a quote that I need to remind myself of every now and then! 🙂
Sweet and Savvy says
I need that placemat!! 🙂
Jen says
I love that cloth/placemat!
Susan H. @ the food allergy chronicles says
I set off on my morning run after my kids have left for school. The mornings are certainly getting cooler here in Southern, Ontario, Canada. I have had to unearth my warmer running gear to layer up. We have had a couple mornings with frost…all in all it has been one of the most beautiful and long lasting fall’s we have had. Although I must say, there is something so serene about running on a snow covered road in the just falling snow…but I can wait a bit longer for that!
Mai says
It’s finally cold here in Texas today (more like windy), but I think it’s a one day thing. :/
The leaf sprinkles are too cute.
Cathy says
Make it 2 days Mai. ha Tomorrow morning will be chilly.
Anna @ On Anna's Plate says

Liz @ Tip Top Shape says

Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Love your linens, as always! Enjoy your visit with your Mom!
Jennifer says
It felt extra cold outside this morning even though the temps were warmer than the rest of the week. Weird.
I’ve been meaning to ask you if you have ever used the same post title twice. You come up with such clever titles and it just made me wonder or maybe you’ve never thought about it. 🙂
KathEats says
I do have duplicate titles!! Just recently I used “Polly Put The Kettle On” twice!!
Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
I felt like I was running through a freezer last night. clearly it meant it was time for me to bake something.
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
Hahah it is getting so cold! Great breakie! I love the little leaves 🙂
Maria @ Sinfully Nutritious says
Keep warm Kath…
I tried Trader Joe’s new Vanilla Cinnamon Black tea this morning. It was really warming. I was sitting at my desk and kept smelling cake batter? I realized it was the tea cup was still on my desk with the tea bag. Really warming and sweet tea, no fake taste.
KathEats says
Sounds amazing – can’t wait till we get a TJ’s!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says

Not too cold here, though 😉
deva @ deva by definition says
I went running today in a cold gear top, but with my ears and hands bundled up – I get HOT once i get moving!
How were the sprinkles in your breakfast? Did they make it really sweet?
KathEats says
they are more for decor than flavor, but a few bites of sweet are fun!
Shannon @ My Place In The Race says
It’s definitely getting colder outside fast! I love the little candy leaves. Too cute 😀
Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn says
Spwwwwinkles 😉 I love how in some parts of the country, people freak out when it’s 60 degrees and say it’s cold, but up here in upstate ny it’s not acceptable to say it’s “cold” until it is below freezing. Sorry upstate new yorkers, you’re a pussy if you can’t walk barefoot in the snow.
Have a good dayyy kath!!
Health Bee says
Great job running! love your breakfast. 🙂
Kiran @ KiranTarun.com says
Sprinkles makes any breakfast so festive. Yum!
Have fun with your mom 🙂
Louella says
Good job.. getting out for a run. It is so much harder when its cold out. I had a brisk walk already today. That is one of the many benefits of having a dog. It has just turned cold here, so we were walking faster than usual.. to get back home and warm up..
Love your blog! Have a great day! God Bless ;]
Heather says
Its getting chilly here tomorrow, I can’t wait! It really makes it feel like Christmas is coming.
Christine @ Oatmeal in my Bowl says
Work is burying me right now. Gotta catch up on all your posts. Love reading them. 😉
Enjoy your lunch with mom! And I am loving the autumn sprinkles! I know for Halloween, I just found skulls and bat sprinkles. Going to need to look out for these ones.
I love to run when its cooler…well I love it when I am into the run and my body has warmed my soul a bit. I am sure you have some great autumn leaves/scenery to enjoy along the way.
jenny says
Hi Kath! Just wondering what type of Garmin do you prefer for running? Thanks!!
KathEats says
I have the Forerunner 305
Caitlyn says
I had splurge on some winter running clothes last week. It was getting a bit too cold running in shorts and a t-shirt!
Melody (Redhead in the Kitchen) says
I have those sprinkles! Oh, do I love a festive sprinkle. I’ve been talking myself out of getting up early to run… thanks for the inspiration!
Angel7 says
Thanks for not making the post title about the snow 🙂 I am sure we are on a downward spiral with regard to the weather getting cold and snowy. However, since the snow is not here yet, it is better to think about just chilly fall weather.
I do like the snow, though. But after four or five months of snowy, cold weather each year, I have had enough, which is why I do not complain about the hot, humid days during the summer months. We do not get enough Vitamin D from the sun for much of the year where we live.

You’re a much braver being than I, Kath. I don’t care how warm or cold it is outside, there aint no way I’m getting my butt out there for a run before I’ve had my breakfast and morning cup of coffee. Then again, I don’t really run very often so I shouldn’t be talking. I did manage to do a load of laundry before I ate, though, so I consider that a success. Have fun with your mama. I dig your tablecloth, by the way. Is it homemade? Muy adorabs!
Linda says
Yeah! We are back in our house!
jojo says
Love the sprinkles! You’ve motivated me to go running, no excuses here in California. It’s cold but nothing compared to your “cold” lol
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
Ouch! haha your descriptions make the weather sound beautiful, yet painful. 😀 But really, good job for getting out there on a chilly day~ 🙂
Christine (The Raw Project) says
Congrats on the run, I actually prefer running in the cold over heat. Gorgeous breakfast!
Erica says
Those sprinkles make your breakfast so much fun! Hope you have a wonderful day!
Catherine says
What brand of leaf sprinkles are they and/or where did you buy them? That’s a fabulous idea to perk up healthy cereal–I think my kids might actually go for that! Those are adorable and I would love to find the same ones.
